  1. I rang SAS today to get an update - they had my car there for a week doing development work almost a year ago, but held off pending availability of the replacement ECU.

Latest advice is they are waiting for us. - apparently there is a good number of M35s waiting to be tuned once the process is proven.

Is there anything I can do to progress this exercise.

  2. Bought a 2003 M35 today :(

Got a fairly good price on it imo, $15,250 inc on roads.

    Grabbed this one:

    http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Automotive/U...ternalHotlink=1

Bit of minor body damage - scratches but no dents. Took it for $15,250 which I was happy with. Apparently they had them sitting there not moving as they weren't advertised online so to make room for new cars they slashed the prices and put em online.

Judging by the average prices on carsales and such for this year, model with these factory options (no sunroof, but I don't want or need one) and these kms I see advertised for $19k-$22k plus on roads.

    Well done.

    Seems like a good buy.

There's no doubt you will enjoy it.

    Welcome to the club

I shall post photos as soon as I take ownership on the 13th - I'm going to Melbourne so picking it up the day after I get back. Yes, useless post but none of my friends know what a Stagea is nor would they care :)

Stephen There used to be a company called sliding performance that did bush bearing high flows, they lasted less than 6 months doing so. There are also companies that use Garrett ball bearing cores, this shortens the distance between the housings and also requires modification of oil and water lines. We @ GCG are the only company that use the factory bearing housing, and once the unit is modified, it is 100% bolt on, no further modifications are required. Regards,

<<-- tell 'em the price son, tell 'em the price! -->>

Stephen Thanks for the enquiry. All of these units come with a ceramic turbine wheel, that has a boost limitation of 14psi. Once this boost level is exceeded, the risk of losing the ceramic turbine wheel greatly increases. In upgrading this factory unit, GCG Turbochargers replace the weak ceramic turbine wheel with a larger than factory steel wheel. Whilst the unit is apart, all parts are replaced with new parts, such as the ball bearings and the seals. GCG also fit a larger compressor wheel, and machine the compressor housing to suit. A full gasket kit is also inlcuded in the upgrade. Once the unit is modified, there are NO further modifications required for re-fitting. Another advantage is that all factory heat shielding can be re-used, and the unit looks factory. The price to do this upgrade is $1955.00 Including GST. Regards,

Did they provide before and after dyno figures perchance?

  4. As per your instruction I reset mine too, but the same thing happened and it started flashing again a few weeks later.

They are struggling with the Japanese too, but seem to think it could be a loose contact or something to do with the wiring. They are going to check all the Airbag wiring and circuits etc. and hopefully find the source of the error.

Once it's cleared they will do another consult and see how everything is going, fingers crossed it doesn't take them all day to locate the issue :|

Will update once I find out what the GO is.

I saw Bis XXB at Hornsby Nissan today - front disks off.

That power duct is very tiny for a lot of money.

Please let us know if you can feel any difference in performance, and how the service went in general.

My car is now due for a 60k service, and I can walk to HN.

  5. Called him today, hes found a few front cuts in Brisbane, but they wont separate the ecu from the fronts.

they said they will try grab just an ecu for their next container.

So i asked him to see if he can track down the black one for me as that seems like the easiest option.

I'm going to Brisbane in a couple of weeks.

Could you please find out which wreckers have the front cuts and get their names and possibly addresses?

I would like to see what other parts they might have - boost guage, wood trim, driving lights etc

    MM

  6. has anyone tried a SAFC or alike to try and trim the AFRs at all?

    Super AFC will not work.

I had mine at Unique for a day, and they could not get it to work with the onboard computer.

And yes, they know what they are doing, they put a SAFC on 300zxtt years ago and that works fine.

  7. Andy, do you have a contact at Pedders?

I've been speaking with Danny at Pedders in Penrith, good guy, tried quite hard to help. Basically told me that the only thing he could dig up (within all the pedders franchises) was a fellow with a white m35 (not AR-X) had some springs matched from another model of car (have seen pics, VERY low) and that if I didn't want to go that low, they could lower and re-temper my std springs for around $600. That way I could have the exact height I wanted.

No solution on shocks, so basically $600 for soft, low springs and my std soggy shocks. Not really what I'm after.

Apparently, when a franchisee does work on an unusual car, they submit the specs of the parts they used, to Pedders r&d, and they list this info on their database, for future reference. The lack of info suggests that either, only one franchise has worked on an m35, or, If they have modified one, they didn't submit anything to r&d.

I've tried another suspension specialist in my area, but unless you speak to the owner (which I haven't been able) and don't own a commodore, (or something easy) the guys aren't prepared to look outside the box to find a solution.

At this point, it's looking like I'll have to import japanese components (Tein or Nismo look good at the moment) myself to do an upgrade, but I'd like some feed back from anyone who has done suspension RECENTLY, what they're using, where they got it, performance etc. I had my heart set on Bilsteins but as you explained Andy, they were a limited run item, so, no go there. I can't even get a part no for a sensible height lowered spring...

Sorry to drag this off topic.

As mentioned in my other post - North Shore Prestige has my blue "Bilstein" springs. Too low for me, but if you really want the look - ring Ben

  8. Hey crisis,

Was going to head out to a few that are on lots and have a better look for things like sunroof space etc, model in ref to trx was 250t rx four.

How low did you drop the arx before it became non carpark compliant?

As suggested in another post, I put in the "bilstein" kit - shocks and springs. I'ld say 1.5" lower

North Shore prestige did the job. The blue springs

They still have my "Bilstein" springs over there on consignment.

    The new ones are yellow.

Back to the sunroofs - check the m35 vs the older models - Tanfles has an earlier model - they may be different?????

  9. zei remember andy coz he always ends his postes with

    cheers

    Andy

and remember (all be it a long time ago) he had a stag (hey i could be wrong such a long time now)

Havnt posted on snsw for quiet a while, halfway through last year? still the same name on there "tangents" had a pewter s15.

remember when you were selling your s15 to get the stag... you got someone to advertise it on the intranet at the RAAF base...

trying to find a black or white 250trx four or a black arx and of course with sunroofs, i'm 6'2" but who cares :( torn between the 2 models... like the leather and the pop up tv screen on the arx but like the ride hieght and non puffed out guards of the trx.... unless i can find the center console of an arx somewhere and jam it into the trx???

If you are 6'2, sit in a car with sunroofs first.

I'm way less that 6' and my hair touches the roof.

Haven't heard of a TRX. RX? The ARX has all of the features and then some more, but I changed my suspension as soon as I got it. (See sydneykid posts on this topic)

Ride height can be an issue with such a long car scraping on ramps and speed humps. I had mine lowered and couldn't use it as a daily driver, so raised it again.

  10. hey i got my m35 now on the road and i don't know what the problem is.

car did about 380km to a bit over half a tank an now after refillling i'v used roughly the same amount of fuel and have about a 120km less on the dial. the only thing done to the car was a oil change and stuff like that so i don't know what the problem is. also i have been taking it relatively easy to get som good milage to. has anyone had similar problems? its a 2001 rs v four m35 with 60k on the clock. cheers liam

Taking it easy does not seem to make much difference. I get around 500k out of a tank - town or trip.

They run rich and need aftermarket tuning to get the best economy and performance.

I'm waiting on a tuner to give the final go ahead to do mine.

  11. OK, according to the last batch of details provided, the list goes like this:

    • C34;
    • NM35 AR-X,
    • NM35; Blacktown
    • NM35 AR-X;
    • NM35 RX
    • NM35 ARX
    • NM35,
    • NM35 AXIS
    • NM35 ARX
    • NM35 AR-X

I'm about to change the thread title to include ALL Stageas from the Sydney metro area (those beyond that are also welcome too if they are able to attend on the chosen date and time), so the group might get a bit bigger, we'll see what happens...

    Nah - This isn't an M35 do .... I'm a moderator!

  12. wow

    wow

    down boy lol

Don't get me wrong - I wish we could use some of the lovely aftermarket solutions that are out there for the RB motors

It's just that we have a very different car with its own set of challenges.

  13. I fear you've misunderstood Nick's comment!

Nick is referring to changing the Topic of this particular thread as it is a general Stagea meet, not just M35's.

I read this as being for M35

There is already a general get together on Thursday nights

  14. Danny, do you mind if I change the thread title to "NSW Stagea owners" to generate a bit more interest?

    Can't support that idea

M35s are a totally different beast

    I would support a separate M35 forum

We can't use the same mods

We can't use the same suspension

    We have totally different cars

  15. It's not a stagea, it's not even based on the stagea. It's based on the same frame as the v series skylines and the 350z cars. It's apart of nissans crossover range, just like the murano is to the maxima. It looks nice though, VQ35 powered. I don't think Australia is getting it though.

So is the M35 Stagea isn't?

  16. I've had one for 9 years. It's a Nissan - of course it's reliable if you look after it.

Beautiful car that still gets regular head turners.

Quite a bit quicker than my Stagea, much more sporty feel to the car, but nowhere near as good a daily driver.

    Lethal in the wet.

As someone said, its an 18 year old car. It will need maintenance. Many have very low ks for the age as owners tend to use them for a weekend car.

Having said that, several Aus300zx members have 300+ks on their cars and they still go well.

I'm planning to give mine to my daughter for her 21st. It was born the same year and month as her.

Should last her for ages as a weekend toy.

  17. A cold Air intake system on your car will cost $790. (NM35 2001)

I spose that isn't too bad, if the system gives good results.

We can also piggy back an aftermarket ecu and boost controller plus tune for $3000.

woah, that sounds pretty over the top, unless they are using a top of the line ECU / Boost Controller.

Just some food for thought, if anyone wants to know who quoted me this as you are interested send me a PM

FYI, I'm still talking to the chap who was going to do the tune on "project axis"

Says he's almost ready (99%), but needs to source a CPU ex Japan as backup insurance. I believe I saw a couple on Importmonster this evening, and there was also mention of a half cut import being brought to WA. The ECU should be available shortly.

He's talking a whole lot less that that figure.

As a matter of interest, I found a company that says it can address the slow launch on drive by wire cars.

    http://www.jdmstyle-usa.com/trec/index.html

This is a small part of the tune offered by the tuner mentioned above.

I'll let you know how it goes when we move forward.
