  1. yeah not far from the college (my house). dont know if they hotwired it but it woulda only needed a screwdriver to start it.

previous owner had the car stolen and recovered, so i got it for next to nothing coz it was running rough. fixed it nice and cheap and has been going great. but i havent been driving it coz i got another daily/ tow car. so i been storing some shit in there and now its all gone.

i dont actually care about the car. if someone finds it with all the stuff in it, they can have the car as a reward

    DM

Badluck dude you shoulda shoved a steering wheel lock on it or something if its that easy to start.

brb looking for your car so i can have it as reward :D

  2. What if i get a R34 25GT N/A. If i give it some mods like podfilter, extractors and catback exhaust how much extra HP would i get ? And would an auto box handle this. Also a stage 2 shift kit for the auto box will that be wise ? since i dont like the smooth shifting in normal auto but since R34 has tiptronic mode you can change at whatever revs you like ? Or does it still do annoying things like switching gears when you dont want, although automatic downshifts are nice.

  3. yea it was my stupidity but it was also lack of experience, knowing what i know now i would have braked rather then panicking and trying to accelerate out of it (fishtale up the road into light post), 1 gigantic shit storm later with a certain company trying to pin a very large ($25k+) con job on me and i learnt a lesson (i didnt have to pay the money, the company got caught doing the dodge on me, i was extremely lucky)

I still keep the front left wheel at home, memento of retardation :)

Yeah man brakes are the way to go, i remember when i was learning to drive with my dad i would accelerate on the roundabout probably too much and out of it and to correct myself i would not touch the brakes but just steer and gas, and my dad told me to always use brakes in situations because im not experienced enough to get out of situations with just the wheel and gas. And braking is good when fishtailing because the car should straighten up.

How much did it cost to fix up your car and was it capable of still driving or was the shaft and rims etc bent too much.

  4. Not safe! The toyota guys would skin you for that haha, nah they do look fairly rickety but they are a surprisingly comfortable and cruisy car for something 32+ years old.

If this is going to be your first car, definitely buy a shitter of a car.

In my first year of driving before i had the major crash and wrote off my car and smartened up I never drove to the conditions and lost it in the rain twice (once at 80km and was VERY lucky to escape that, came to a stop in someones front yard between a large concrete light post and a gum tree with no more then 1m either side), overtaking on roundabouts and around corners, didn't maintain the car, drove for only myself and didn't take much notice of other peoples driving.

I was telling my sister the same thing about 2 weeks before her crash, she was overtaken on a roundabout but kept going the same speed, exiting the roundabout the other car had to slam on the brakes for the form 1 lane ahead and my sister ran right up the back, with experience she would of known to slow down to leave a gap.

My big crash just involved me driving like an idiot, accelerating too hard out of a roundabout and sliding into a light post

O shit son that looks bad!!!

But i guess its completely your fault for hitting the gas too hard off a turn. Or did your boost kick in too at that time . But depends how you drive, if you dont take unneccessary risks for no reason you'll be fine, but i think the main thing you gotta learn is watching and predicting other peoples driving and learn to avoid their mistakes costing you money, thus you are true i think i will drive around for 9more months in a crap box before getting a nice car. But i really do want a r34 so if the turbo laws are in place or itll be too expensive to keep a turbo car ill just get the 25gt and hopefully find one with gtr brakes etc. And how much diffrerence do the brakes make in the skylines ? I rode in my friends twin turbo supra and that thing brakes hell hard.

*by the way im not jewish*

  5. Canberraconnect.com - 13 22 81 would be the best place to call, I've tried searching all the government websites but cannot find it in writing. I was pretty much 100% sure that is ruling but who knows, crappy websites.

Was saying that if you cant get a turbo/v8 then 1st gen celica, hatchback or bmw is your best bet. If you can get a turbo car, buy my 33 GTST haha

Also something else, have you owned a car before or will this be your first and how long have you had your P's for. Your first car is supposed to and should be an absolute shitter of a car, its where you will (not might, -WILL-) make all your crappy driving mistakes. I shouldn't be preaching this, i've only got 2.5 years driving experience, but the majority of people i know have all made some stupid mistake that has caused some varying degree of damage to their car within their first year of driving or at least had a very near miss. No point in ruining a skyline over some stupid mistake ( :D )

Yeah id rather not get a 1st gen celica doesnt look too safe :). Id probably just cruise on a falcon in the mean time or buy some 1000$ car, maybe a stick so i can learn it since im only AUTO, i like the semi-auto gearbox thus why i want the r34, not much a fan of manuals but i guess i barely driven them.

And the r34 25gt doesnt seem too bad, hopefully that guy is still selling the seriesII one looks pretty nice.

But i guess you're right about driving a shitpile for a while, it gets you used to the road and gets you better knowledge of maintaining and repairing the fcker since a 1000$ car will need that, but hopefully wont require purchase of parts. And what accidents have you had during your first drivings ?

  6. Differences that aren't to do with a turbo engine (ecu, wiring, compression, intercooler etc.) are things like larger brakes and basic supporting mods to go with a more powerful car. You cant just remove the turbo and drive it. As always, if you want a turbo car it is cheaper to buy one turbo, same with N/A. If you want an N/A car, buy it already in that form rather then convert.

20"s will most likely rub and i dont know of any non-chrome 20" wheels so theres the added douche factor of that aswell

Think the kind of car you are after is a BMW sedan (325i) from what you have said. Around you price range ($15,000 max for a pre-98 model), a bit of go (V6 from memory), comfortable sedan with a classy (see also: Yuppie) look but at the same time this is the most common car to see in a Uni carpark with 20" chrome wheels and phat bass pumping hectically :D

Can't find the link but it was 2006, can guarantee it. You can get a v8/turbo with a reasonable excuse but its not worth the effort.

Haha yeah no douche bag but 20" chrome wheels yes. :) Maybe not 20" but 18-19". I think more like these ones

    Blitz%20Chrome1.jpg

But i agree they overly chrome ones do look a bit homo.

You damn people where is the love for skylines trying to make me get 1950 celicas and hatchbacks and bmws!!

Do you have any clue to who i ring to make sure about the v8/turbo thing, because i keep reading that its NSW and not ACT

  7. You will be dissapointed with an N/A GT25 R34, they are gutless... Youre better off waiting and getting a turbo when youre off your P's.

I recommend getting an AE86 Corrolla and going nuts on it - Awesome cars.

Gutless? Is there other differences in the 25GT compared to GTT apart from turbo ? Like strengthened internals and tranny etc and shocks/springs ? Otherwise i can always get a GTT and take the turbo out and keep it in my boot :( because i noticed the price is basically the same, i wont get a turbo back exhaust etc.

But apart from that other differences in 25GT ? If so nice 19-20" rims and sound system and keep the car clean would be fine but power is always good to have even when not using it, just there and you know your car can go fast.

And can you link me to ACT site that says V8/turbo banned for P platers and what date etc because i can only find the NSW link. And i cant wait 3 more years!:laugh::P Bloody hoons and stupid drink drivers ruining things for me.

  8. 30 year old car!!! :) What about a 1000$ lancer :). Or a 25gt r34 skyline N/A for 14-15k. (more reliable ? )

And the price of rego (650$) would include the compulsory 3rd party insurance ?

Also if i get a temporary car that still has rego on it for like 5 more months, am i allowed to drive it without needing to re register it because i see people selling their cars saying (STILL REGISTERED TILL 09 JANUARY ).

  9. Goddamn you serious ? Turbo and V8 was 2006 cutoff ? f**k i wasnt even 17 in 2006 July. So i guess ill have to go with an N/A car. I guess it will be nice since im after a neat and clean car im not there to rev the shit the out of it, i just want a nice ride that looks great and makes me feel proud that i own something i can look after and mod and play some nice trance in ;).

I know a few things about car internals, maintaining them and servicing them myself but i have no idea about the bureaucratic stuff and all the laws about registering and insurance. So how much for registration for 1 year, with an N/A skyline non comprehensive. My brother payed about 360$ to register a falcon for 6 months without any comprehensive.

And unfortunately im not the lucky bastard whose parents pay for his / her 2007 Mercedes and uni fees, i gotta work 32hours while studing full time and i pay my dad 50$ a week to live in his house since he is also renting so the decision of getting a skyline is still not too certain as if i keep 18k in the bank i can get ~100$ free interest per month from that.

Anyway thanks for the replies i guess i still got ~7 months to decide what to do but my love for skyline might increase as im sitting here without one, catching a bus that takes 1.5hours to get to and from work (including wait) considering i only live about 15mins drive lol.

    Enough complaining from me :)

    :) :)

  10. Hello!

Im currently on my P plates and by the end of the year i shall around 18k in cash and was thinking about throwing it all away on an 1998/99 r34 gtt with turbo and a few mods but a stock turbo is fine as i can add some mods later if i dont go broke or just some nice rims.

But i have never registered a car before and would like to know the process involved and if its possible for me.

    * Is it allowed for a P plater to register a car with turbo ?

    * I dont mind picking up or looking at a car around NSW/Vic region and maybe bringing it to ACT, would the registration be possible

    * What mods does the ACT prohibit on import cars ?

    * How much would 3rd party insurance (standard one) cost for 1 year for turbo car or if my dad registers it or if i register it (if its possible for me)

    * How unwise is the decision of getting an expensive car while studing in uni collecting a fee of ~19k in debt while living with his parents while petrol prices are going up ? (i can answer this)

    Thanks.
