Its in the right foot......plenty of people drive around with this sort of HP at the rears only ( My VU ( ss ute ) is 700hp and over 1000nm rear wheel drive and not much weight in the back without the spare etc.... was a brilliant car to learn propper throttle control especially in the wet biggest issues where making a turn out of a side street uphill in the wet the rears would just spin and spin and it was almost impossible to get traction but after some proper practice and some forced self control....... it drives fine.
Tuning and changing your suspension may well help but learn to control what you have got appropriately first....

Does the tapping noise dissappear or become less noticeable after the car has warmed up ?
I had ( still have ) a Holden Ute 2002 SS ( LS1 Engine ) which developed quite a loud piston slap noise ( many of these engines suffered from this issue and it was well publicised at the time ). Many owners had Holden rebuild the engine under warranty but they were real pricks and very difficult to get anything done. They refused a rebuild on mine because it had aftermarket cam and heads etc....
Point of the story being it has been driven hard actually very hard for 6 years and whilst the noise is still audible when cold ( the 5.7 V8 with headers cams and open exhaust do help to drown it out ) the engine has not missed a beat. With 190,000 km on the clock
It is worth noting that ever since the problem was diagnosed I have been using a Moreys Oil additive which is made for older engines ( ie with more wear ) it seems to have a thicker property to it and I just add about 500ml of it to my oil.
Like I said earlier she is driven very hard and has been for 6 years and still going strong.
I would get the problem professionally diagnosed but if a rebuild is out of the question due to cost etc... then consider using the oil additive and keep driving until a rebuild is really really required.

Yea I moved it when it was cold (only atm i dont want to drive to hard or far with the smoke that was coming out) but the catch can has been in there for 6 months plus and this is the first time any smoke has originated from the engine bay and yea its coming from the top of the filter.
I have driven it hard before and this is the first time its done it.
I had the same issue with my Holden Ute LS1 5.7 V8 about a week after installing the catch can, smoke ( I would actually describe it as more of a vapor ) started coming out of the breather at the top. Have you smelt the smoke ? reason I ask is that mine did not smell at all like burning oil but more like a chemical fume.
Long story short I never had it fixed and after about 3 months the problem ( not that it really was a problem ) went away.
Sorry , this doesnt answer your question but I would be interested if anyone has any ideas as to why this happens.

Amazes me when people write on a forum asking for advice from obviously experienced people and then they do totally the opposite to what they are advised WTF
From reading this post three things are pretty clear
1) Not many like or recommend the microtech.
2) Almost all recommend PowerFC
3) A certain tuner insists on using the Microtech
hmmmmm.........
Question - it was a month ago it was all sorted is it still running ? running well ?
Secondly I would hope your tuner has a strong business that will be around for a while ( like the life of your car ) or you may have trouble around darwin ie: getting a retune in the future....

I honestly hope nothing does go wrong..... I wouldnt wish that on anyone but I just dont understand why you would go against what almost everyone recommended.
