  1. That actually makes alot more sense. I forgot some people seal of their boot from the "inside" part of the car to prevent whatever boot noises from coming through.
  2. ty guys, thought it was that but wasnt sure.
  3. Hey guys, (Reffers to R33 Skyline) I found an opening on the bottom, rear end, drivers side of my car (boot area). Theres a box, with square holes, surrounding it and the opening is about a feet squared. Only thing seperating the outside from the inside(of the car) is a piece of flappy plastic. Does anyone know what that is? If you look under your rear bar (right side, behind the tires) you'll see it. Was thinking of sealing it off to hopefully get rid of some road noise/outside noise if it's a "useless" part. Advisable?
  4. How do you do the bumper n skirts? lol
  5. How did you do the firewall? underlay? or deadening mats?
  6. Hey guys, There doesn't seem to be a post on this so I shall start one. Where do you put your sound deadning mats(or whatever alternative methods/materials) to eliminate road noise and/or car rattling? This is refering to Skylines to be specific, but all other general vehicle solutions are welcomed. Specifying exact location and your methods will be great. example: "changed seals on door" or "sprayed sound deadning on wheel arches" or "sealed of service holes with duck tape and aluminium" etc etc You guys get the idea =). This post is NOT about the material brands(ie dynamat vs brownbread vs flashing material(flashtac, quick roof)). I'll start with one: There was a small hole under the car(under the front passenger seat), probably used to let water out. Was sealed with (duck tape + aluminium) and sound deadener.
  7. Hey guys, Need some advice/info on how to merge existing paint with new paint without painting the whole part(ie entire door). Bought some aerosol cans; I have my primer, paint to match and my clear coat all ready to go. I'm working on paint damage(paint peeled off), and it's smack in the middle of my door. There isn't any dent or rust, only the car paint & clear coat came off(primed surface was left). It's about an inch or two wide. I've already prep the surface and it's almost completely smooth, I sanded the area of the damage and half a cm or so outwards of that. So, heres what I need to know: How do I merge my car paint + clear coat with my current paint job? Step by step instructions would be appreciated. eg. "Spray past damage area with car paint by 1 cm, then spray past painted area with clear coat by 1 cm." Thanks guys.
  8. Hey guys, Was thinking of restoring the external plastics of my R33, refering specificly to those along the edges of the window when the doors are closed. The hard glossy plastics. There are minor scratches everywhere, but nothing deep. Kinda like a scratch you can buff off ur paint; problem is it's plastic and it doesn't "buff off". Any ideas? Sanding? Fillers? Miracale products? Special polish? Can't seem to find a DIY-tutorial on it. Instructions will be appreciated.
  9. Hey guys, Have an auto N/A R33, it's in pretty good condition. Regualrly serviced etc. It's done about 90000kms and im thinking of selling it. It has some cosmetic mods like 17" and stuff, don't it factors much in selling price tho. What do you think I can get for it? Its fully P-plate legal, if thats a factor. I live in melb(hence this is in the vic thread), and was wondering if theres such a thing as "local price".
  10. Try turning off HICAS all together, pull the fuse and the plugs(under car). I had this stupid prob where my HICAS was not functioning properly and felt like i was oversteering when taking corners slow on wet days(which i found out later it was acutally the HICAS doing some extra turning for me). Sometimes even "swaying" while driving straight on a wet day(whn driving alittle harder thn ususal). See if that works for ya
  11. The vibration is something constant that happens at 0kph and 100kph, it only happens when i move the steering wheel in any way. If i constantly move the steering wheel, i will constantly feel the vibration. (very mild vibration) It shouldnt be the alignment, got alignment done rescently and well it the steering is still all good. Havent checked my p/steering fluids and hoses but have no idea how to do so w/o sending to mechanic. Shoudlnt be a concern should it?
  12. Hey guys, every since i bought my 33. I always thought it was a normal thing that the left and right signal has to be turned off manually as it was an old car. Steering didnt feel so responsive (yet again thought it was normal)... but somethign weird happened today, went to a friends place and left the car out in the hot sun for a few hours. All of a sudden, when i started driving the car... the steering started vibrating (very abnormal for my car) a little everytime i move it... it felt better i guess... a little stiffer. The signal also turned itself off when i turned a corner (this is not normal for my vehicle)... had the car for almost a year now and i found this really odd that it suddenly "fixed itself". Happy about the "miricle" i guess, but if it were to somehow "break" again... would it be a simple fix?.. How would i go about doing so? (maybe a clean? replacement? repair?)
  13. Tested the problem with air conditioning on/off, i dont think it effects the frequency of the "burst of revs". Only seems to happen on idle. My R33 is an NA (think this should cancel any issues relating to turbos). Ermm, got the spark plugs changed not too long ago, should not be the problm. Havent quite got arround to cleaning the AAC valve yet tho. Anyway, GL DrewII u seem to have a real problem there.
  14. Hey guys, Theres this weird thing that happens to my car at stops/when its idling... it does burst of small revs like 250rpms .. kinda like a cough (the car shakes abit). It happens approx. once every 10 seconds. Should i be worried? or is this normal? thanks
  15. Come on guys, its not THAT bad. Anyhow, any of you happen to have a Pearl Blue rear bar for a R33 lying arround? If not continuing with suggestions? I know Veilside is abit crazy but I'm sure theres something that can look alrite with it.=/
  16. Yeah, it has a full Veilside Kit. Can't really afford to change to whole thing now though, so just looking to replace the damaged rear bar. M-Sports doesn't look too bad but i prefer something a little smoother arround the edges. Anymore recommendations =D?
  17. Haha, i s'pose. Always wanted to get that crazy looking rear replaced sooner or later anyway. (installed by previous owner =P)
  18. Hey guys, Just got into an accident today and FUBAR-ed my rear bar (bye bye Veilside bumper T_T), gotta get it replace. Any good suggestions of models purchase-able in Victoria? Preferably aquirable in the eastern suburbus/city. A model and location to get the rear bar would be awesome. Suggestion of a good place to paint the part will also be cool =). Thanks
  19. hey guys, fianlly found out the problem.. i brought it to beurepairs for an alignment but they told me it was aligned, turns out my front right tyre is moveable when they lifted it up....like as if it wasnt bolted on properly. Then went to ultratune and the mechanic told me the bit connecting the tyres to the car was screwed (i think he said the front axel or smth) and i had to get a new one... hence the skidding towards one particular direction. He deemed it dangerous to drive and im without a vehicle till i can find the part and replace it =/ then another problem arises... the mechanic told me that considering it was an import, he may not be able to find parts for it. Soo... anyone know of a good place to get these type of parts? (in melb, westrn subs)
  20. Yeah, when i think about it... it probably is the alignment, the last mechanic i brought it to he said that he cant seem to align the car properly.. and lol i do know that different surfaces with different frictions will cause movements but considering that it was way worse than the commodore and toyota camry that i drove quite recently, i think i have a serious issue... A good picture would be that at the traffic lights a toyota corola can hit 40kms before i do, and if i tried to it would just skid sideways abit. Tyre pressure sounds bout right too.... bloody tyres are slightly bigger than the rims, the mechanic released some pressure saying that it'll make things better till i change the tyres. anyway, thanks guys... would've forgotten bout alignment if u guys didnt mention the possibility. =)
  21. Hey guys, I seem to have some serious problems with traction on a wet day. I have a NA R33 1993 AWD skyline. I bought it not too long ago, the steering response feels bad. My tyres seem to start to turn after i move the steering wheel about 1-2 inches, feels rusty. Anyhow didnt seem to be a problem when i bought it, but on wet days (which i recently found out) it seems to lose traction and go side ways when i accelerate from a stop.(even at normal and sometimes at relative slow acceleration). I dont seem to have any problems with turning at a relatively fast speed on turns tho (wet day). Today, i acclerated normally and it moved side ways... then when i regained traction and accelerated it did it again (wet day). Looked like a damn fool =( . Any ideas on what my problem is? (ps. tyres/steering wheel moves abit when driving on 2 different surfaces at the same time, even on painted arrows) Thanks.
  22. Hey, Just rewired everything today and still having problems with whining (every 5-10s)... reving the car didnt seem to effect the whining. Heres what i did: Wired remote wire on the other side of the car (away from RCA) Wired power so that it the furthest possible distance (1ft @ amp) from RCA cables Wired ground with larger gauge than power with at least 1 ft from RCA cables Amp is a 1400w system Speakers are 700w each (x2) Just realised that the amp cables i bought were for 1200w and amp is 1400w.... i increased the gauge of the ground cable significantly but it didnt affect the whining at all. Will chaning my power cable so that it has a greater capacity solve my problem? or it shouldn't make a difference when it comes to these problems?
  23. Hey guys, Been having problems with my back brakes. Here are the symtoms: . Brakes produce clunking noises every tire revolution when i press on halfway on the brakes . Brakes produce sliding metal noises whn i press a quarter way through . Brakes produce ringing noise when i im not pressing on them while driving Finding the problem quite odd as the brakes pads are new. They were changed just before i bought the vehicle. What could it be? Something loose that i could possibly tighten myself? (reassembly?) Help! Its really annoying. Thankksss
  24. The brake pads were changed just before i bought the vehicle. So im not too sure if it was because of bad replacement of the pads. Would it be an easy task for me to remove the wheel and reassemble the brakes myself?
  25. LOL, oh yea.... thx for the correction. quite stoaned didnt realise
