  1. doesn't limp mode kick in around 2500rpm? that's often caused by a dodgy air flow meter.

Yeah that sounds about right but i can stab the gas and it will rev high. How do you test the air flow meter, change it? Its a z32.

The motor had standard intake manifold and injectors, i have now put a front intake plemun, 650cc injectors, fuel rale and regulator and 80mm throttle, so she is over fueling big time atm.

Im just trying to get it driveable to get it to the tuner then the nis tune will go in.

  2. Heya peeps

Just replaced my blown neo motor in my r32 in installed a second hand long motor in. Now if you stab the throttle it will rev high then cut but if you slowly rev it to 2500rpm it cuts the injectors. i tested the hz to the injector and it dropps of completly at 2500rpm.

There is a few mods to the car so one of these could be the problem but was just wondering if any1 has come across this before and has a quick fix, that would be sic:)

    Cheers

  3. hi im after the stock rb20det intercooler piping ( not the intercooler)

im after the pipe from turbo to intercooler and the pipe from cooler the the intake ( i have the one that crosses the vally) just need the one that joins the cooler to the pipe

    cheers

Yeah mate i've got it but im in perth

    Call me if your interested

  4. Hey guys just chucked another motor in my car in the cam sensor is buggered.

    Any1 got a r33 late series 2 or r34 rb25det cam sensor laying around?

    Im located in perth.

    Cheers

  5. Cheers guyz,

yeah the lower the boost the better for the motor but just curios to how much they can take befor the head gasket goes or holes in pistons:) my old supra didn't take mush till the gasket went.

I've just high flowed my neo turbo from Stao at hypergear 52trim with a high pressure actuator. Is a good tune a nis tune from hyperdrive in perth or can any1 recommend a tuner in perth for rb motors?

  6. Hey guys,

Got a rb25det neo in a r32 and was running 15psi for 2 years (mainly track and drift) and it loved it never failed me once! Im really impressed with Mr nissan, its my first one, i was a toyota fan before :rofl2:

Got a new turbo on the way and a nistune so i would like to up the boost a bit maybe 18psi mark depending on how the tune will go. I will make sure all the fuel and spark is sweet.

Just wonder what these motors can take daily? it can have some hard days so if it wont last long above 15psi i will leave it there.

    Cheers

  7. My old motor has finally failed so swapping all the after market parts onto the new one.

The old motor is a rb25det neo out of the r34 and its had gtr cams fitted and a few other mods that made it fun on the track:) the vct has been disconnected.

I have a replacement motor just need to know if there is anything i have to do to the new motor so the gtr cams work? like disconnect the vct.

I'm going to get a nistune once its running to make sure it's all running sweet

  8. Hey guys

cheers for all the info good to see everyone putting the bit in:) i've got a bit to think about then, i'll speak to Stao.

A bit off topic but i've just measured my cams out of my neo and i have

    Inlet 86mm

    exhaust 82mm

That means they are gtr cams, why would they do that? obvoiusly better performance!

    Standard neo are

    inlet 84mm

    exhaust 87mm

Just wondering if i replace the original cams in the second hand motor im going to put in, with the gtr cams and disconnect the vct is that all i have to do to make it work?

  9. Hey guys

Change of plan can't get pistons made up for my car for 8 weeks so not rebuilding atm, im just going to buy a second had neo motor and smash it in for the meen time.

My original motor (rb25det neo) has had the vvt disconnected, ant reason for this? and what can i do with the other motor being installed in regards to the vvt swap everthing off the old motor?

Apparently in japan it had gtr cams put in but yet to conform it, the cams are out but need to measure the lift... What is the standard lift?

Also the injectors are blue and top mount. the only numbers i could get was EBJE100 any idea what they are? couldn't find anything on the net.

    Cheers

  10. Hey Guys

I have stripped down my rb25det neo motor and slightly melted 2 pistons and seized a comp ring! The car is a r32 set up for drifting and track work and im really happy with the performance it had and how long it lasted(2 and a bit years of thrashing until something leaned it out) Would like to keep this set up so instead of buying a second hand motor I want to rebuild so I know it’s fresh!

The trouble is no one has pistons for a rb25det neo. Im over sizing the block 0.5mm and was going to use acl 86.5mm forged pistons. The only difference I can see is the standard pistons have valve cut outs on the piston head and the acl’s don’t but the dome is more central so looks like the valve would sit on the edge of the dome.

There is not much info on the neo motor so if anyone knows much about them or tried using r33 pistons pls let me know

    Cheers

  11. Hey guys

Currently got my neo motor stripped down and have slightly cooked 2 pistons and seized a comp ring. Its in a r32 and it was a good set up for track and drift work. Im want to rebuild it because then i know the motor is fresh and i can get good new parts cheap and machining through a mate.

The trouble is we can't find pistons for r34 rb25det neo motor only rb25det pistons apparently they dont make them for the neo motor. I'm oversizing the block 0.5mm and want to fit acl pistons 86.5mm. the only difference i can see in the pistons is the standard ones have valve cut out in the piston head. the acl don't have valve cut outs but the raised dome section is more sentral so it looks like the valves will sit on the edge of the dome.

Not many ppl know much about the neo motor and can't help me out. has anyone seen or tried this, just want to know if it will work

    Cheers

  12. Maybe I took the OP's comments a little differently, but I'd think he's generally looking at the "drag" between turns, not a 1/4 mile? Don't under-rate how fast and easily a 300rwhp Skyline can cover ground...

Agreed 100%. Sounds like he is out there and doing it. Incidentally how do you find your 32 deals with heat loadings?

That spec high flow was mine Adrian. 300rwhp @ 12psi. Max boost by 2700rpm. Easy, reliable power and because it made power early it was very easy to drive fast point to point. Not really a drag strip weapon, but in terms of getting power down early out of turns it could get the jump on 260-300rwkW cars and generally punch above its weight.

I've not seen anyone else run with that turbo spec, but it certainly worked. Not sure, but I don't think it would do much more than 300rwhp, cranking more boost should yield bigger mid range stick though. I often wondered if an OP6 housing would have allowed it to make torque as the rpm went over 6000, but not have a major impact on torque between 2000-3000rpm.

Given that this is a proven unit, I'd go this way. Really very similar to the unit I had built, with the advantage of some extra flow capacity if desired. Back it in this should produce the 300hp @ 12psi as mine did, but with the ability to make another 40hp with a few more pounds. Possibly some differences in boost response right down low in the rpm, but I'd be certain Stao could supply the 48T cartridge if it was an issue.

Cheers dale for the comments sounds like you have a good set up just what im after, what ecu and set up are you using?

Yeah i do beat up on the car alot and the temps stay fairly good. say when im drifting it sits at 7000rpm for about 5 to 6 laps (dependging on how long the tyres last) and the water temp stays below 100 deg but the oil temp can climb up to the 120 to 140 mark depending and the ambiant temps. i have a oil cooler and big alloy radiator and never had overheating issues even on a 38 deg day, On track days i have done 15 laps straight driving it real hard and its fine, just the tyres that give up:)

So you would reccommend hi flowing the standard turbo?

  13. Cheers for the guys that are helping me out. hp doesn't always mean faster!! its how its set up and how you drive it, the japs did there thing on this car in japan and its a awesome car to drive.

At 260hp this car cooks 4th gear drifting with brand new 235' s on the rear, got tenth fastest lap time out of 70 cars with second hand street tyres on and was doing the same lap times as the evo's and gtrs. i've dragged plenty of ppl that say they have done all this shit to there car and dyno at 420hp and so on and i still just pull away from them, which just cuts them because they talk their cars up so much and spent so much money chasing hp!!!

As for my set up it has blue injectors which i think the purpleish ones are standard so if anyone knows what the blue ones are let me know? a gtr fuel tank, z32 afm, bigger coils, gtr cams, oil cooler, 2 way diff, orc clutch, all suspension is adjustable camber and so on, a shitty old apexi which i need to change to prevent my motor from leaning out again and service the injectors if they are not standard. any reccomendations on ecu? im thinkin the nis tune cause im running out of money

  14. Hey all

Im running a neo motor in my r32 and was making 280rwhp with a standard tubro! untill it leaned out, cooked a piston and snapped the turbo shaft. Currently rebuilding the motor and need to sort out my fuel issues then a turbo. With my current set up the standard turbo had good low down response and torque, not much lag and would cook third under boost. The suspension and driveline is sorted and I mainly use it for fun on the track, time trials and drifting.

Not chasing any more power just want to know what would be the best turbo for that same sorta low down response and torque, so basically similar to the neo turbo but a bit better:)
