  1. The guy who owned it before me installed a performance clutch and exhaust, but that's it, so it's pretty much stock... Can't imagaine that either of those would affect fuel economy right? Yeah that was my plan (to get it seviced), just thought i'd try to find out a bit about what it could be before I took it in. Thanks for the responses.
  2. Is this normal? 17L/100k is a bit ouch. I'd hate to think that I'm burning a hole in my pocket when I don't have to be. The car's gone 100,000k but the previous owner drove it like it was a shopping trolley, so the engine should be in pretty top condition. Assuming it isn't normal, what are some possible reasons I would be getting such low k's? Might be worth mentioning that it feels like it's running a bit more sluggish than it was when I got it several months back (but I could be imagining things). Thanks.
  3. Arrg so many differring recommendations/opinions. I was sure that fully synthetic was definitely the way to go... but now i'm told semi-synthetic? As for viscosity, I'm now looking at 10w40. Is that a good choice for an RB25DET engine that's gone 100,000k?
  4. Sorry to ask a question that’s been done to death, but after doing all the research I could I still can’t come up with a definitive answer about what type of oil I should be using. This is my first car and I’ve only had it for about a month, so I’m about as uninformed as they come. -My car is a pretty much stock R33 GTS25-t Sedan. -It’s done just over 100,000 k and the engine seems to be in pretty decent condition. -I don’t use it on tracks and rarely ever push it above 4000rpm -I’m currently using it for 30k trips to & from work 5 days a week, other than that I mostly use it for quick 5-10 minute trips. -I live in Perth, so the lowest the temp gets to here is about 1 or 2 degrees on a winter morning. I was about to go and buy some Mobil 1 5w50 but a bit more reading told me that I’m probably better off with Mobil 1 0w40 or 10w30, seeing as I don’t use it on tracks or anything. If recommended I’m willing to fork out a bit more for some Royal Purple or something, but it apparently that would be slight overkill for how I use my car. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks.
  5. I'm a first car owner (bought a 4 door R33 GTS25t about a month ago) so I don't really know what to look for. Can anyone recommend a honest & fair workshop that's well informed about skylines? I live in Subiaco, so relatively close to that is preferable but not necessary. So if anyone has one in mind that they highly recommend but isn't near by, I'd still like to know. Also, I'm thinking it's time for an oil change and it looks like Mobil1 5w50 is my best bet, but I can't seem to find any at petrol stations. Where is the best place to look? Thanks in advance.
  6. In fact now that I think about it it’s probably just a blown fuse. Only problem is that I don’t have an owner’s manual, so I don’t know which one to replace… Does anyone happen to know of a link to a PDF R33 owner’s manual by any chance?
  7. It's a stock steering wheel. I might take that off and have a poke around, make sure everything is connected properly.
  8. Erm... how do I check that exactly? Approximately where abouts is the horn unit under the bonnet? Behind the steering wheel? Don't laugh.... This is my first car haha.
  9. What are some common reasons for a horn to not be working? I'm no greasemonkey, but i'm sure that if some one were to suggest some possible reasons for it not to be working and where/what to check on my car, I could figure it out. Thanks for any advice.
  10. Really? The extra doors/length must really add a significant amount of weight then, assuming the specs between the coupe/sedan are identical…. Anyone able to give more confirmation of this, or know if this is consistent in the R33 model?
  11. I'm seriously considering purchasing a 4 door (sedan) 1996 GTS-t Skyline. Now obviously the sedan model isn't going to perform quite as well as the coupe, but is the performance hit anything significant? I was planning on getting a coupe, but the sedan I'm looking at is a pretty damn good deal. Thanks for any advice.
