  1. Another great cruise, Thanks James. A suggestion for the next one, have a planned route acoompanied by maybe a route map through google maps with designated regrouping points ( so people know exactly where everyones headed to when they get split up in traffic ) say for every 20mins of driving or so to allow people who got separated to regroup and join the convoy? I think that was the only issue yesterday other than that it was amazing! So much fun trying to keep up with Matt's Nur! It was great meeting you all! And the ribs at the end of the day was amazing as always!

Here is some the photos from the day :)

Great shots Milan and Raj! Milan you can see the bright red of your SV6 reflected in my rear brake disc :)

Owen's new number plate got a lot of attention, and how good was Govett's Leap lookout, with David's car in front :)

  2. A good day out today, thanks to James for organising the event.

I apologise (to the extent to which I'm responsible, anyway), for the pace early on. It was apparent to me that there was a miscommunication regarding who was actually leading the group (Terry or myself) and after Terry pulled over at Glenbrook and most of the group appeared to follow him off (and after calling to confirm that Terry was under the impression / had been told he was leading) I decided to take off and have a bit of the road to myself, because at least I know this corner of the earth. I wasn't expecting everyone to be following me from Glenbrook onwards. Up until that point on the M4 I was doing at or below the limit to ensure everyone was nice and close.

*Anyway*. With regard to the rest of the day's pace, to be fair, we covered 280 kilometres all up. This also included no fewer than six waypoints / destinations along the way. Think about that! From Rhodes, to the twin servos, to Echo Point (three sisters, where there was no way we could park 20 cars in the vicinity) to Govett's Leap Road, Govett's Leap lookout, Megalong Valley tea rooms, to Bell via Mount Vic and then via Windsor Road to Victoria Road and finally RibTerranean. All in all, besides great food, cars and company, we also took in some amazing roads and were utterly spoiled by the weather. These roads included Cliff Drive from Leura to Echo Point then back to the highway; Govett's Leap road and lookout at Blackheath (with a simply amazing view over the Blue Mountains), Megalong Valley Road (despite some sharpish dips / undulations, an utterly incredible drive anyone who did it would agree); to Darling Causeway and Bells Line of Road through Bilpin and down past the lookouts at Bellbird Hill. Finally (for those who could make it), great food and service at RibTerranean Balmain.

Taking all that into account, I don't think anyone who did the whole thing could really rate the event as anything but a brilliant day out and above expectations for a club cruise.

Please bear in mind I was not an organiser of this cruise and was just along for the ride like the rest of you!

Edit: Great job on the pics so far guys, keep them coming.

Was also great to meet old faces and new - Pete, SammyD, Travis, Raj

  3. Yep they've had two airbags since the series II R33 in 1996 and optional side bags in the R34 since '99 I believe.

Was good that the article at least went some way to talking about the qualities of the R34 as a tuner car. It also mentioned that the 34 can still be a challenge and won't do everything for you, which, to Kristian's point, is kind of a big drawcard for many people here on this forum.

  4. We have a small work outing coming up in the next couple of weeks and this sounds like the ticket, we're not only sold on the solid menu but the possibility to see mean as skylines parked outside. Wouldn't be an issue to accommodate 10 - 12 people by the sounds of it?

Hey mate, give James a ring on (02) 8065 0987, they have a whole private upstairs section for functions etc, so I doubt there would be any problem.

Was a fantastic day, and great to meet some new people. Excellent run up the mountain despite the early start, that 10 degree air does wonders for our turbo motors! :)

Obviously a massive shame about the R35, but what a brilliant finish to the race. Hope this means even bigger attendances next year and well into the future.

Great pics Ravi. I've got a few more to come (and some that snapper Dave took too) :)

  6. A great session; aside from the heat I think the weekend afternoon format really worked well and I learned a lot - I think there was a good combination of basic and more technical information, and everyone I spoke to only had positive things to say. Thanks very much to Ian and Craig for their time, as well as Terry and the rest of the SAU Exec crew for organising it. It's stuff like this that sets the club apart from regular forums or FB-based groups.

Also Nick - loved the Clio! :)

  7. We pit the latest GT-R supercar against a pumped up version of its predecessor to see how far Godzilla has come in a decade.

    Nissan GT-R R35 vs Nissan GT-R R34

Can what was once one of the most dominant and influential cars to come out of Japan keep pace with its younger high-tech sibling?

The short answer is no. But in modifying a 12-year-old R34-series Skyline GT-R to near-identical levels of performance as the current model, we begin to get an appreciation of a dozen years’ worth of automotive engineering.

The technological advancements of the past decade have been significant, to say the least, and the new GT-R takes advantage of every single one of them. It is now, arguably, for the price the epitome of high-tech, high-performance motoring.

  8. cruise details will be up tomorrow but the jist is the follows.

Meetup Penrith Panthers carpark (next to McDonalds) on Mulgoa Road, Penrith

Meetup at 4:30am to coffee up and say hi etc

Depending on if we need a stop halfway we will stop for 15 mins at Blackheath or Lithgow to stretch legs and bathroom

Leave 5am sharp and head up Great Western Hwy Just past Lithgow then jumping into Batshurst after 2hrs of hopefully no traffic

then ill lead everyone into the designated parking spots and we can all go get setup opposite pit straight and enjoy the festivities

    Sounds good Dave

  9. I dunno about huge quads, they've certainly filled out my jeans now, but the main problem is severe lack of flexibility when wearing them lol

    Can barely tie my shoes!

Combined with the trend in skinny jeans and shorts which is in full swing. Forget trying to fit your wallet, phone and keys in your side pockets. I swear my jeans, shorts, or suit pants have almost blown out trying to tie shoes.
