  1. Ultimately finding a decent Skyline isnt gonna be cheap and can be a fairly long process with lots of homework involved. for an extra 5k youre more likely to end up with a better car overall. And you wont get a decent GT-T for much less than 20. I would consult redbook on this one, and look further than the two cars youre looking at. Perhaps worth a look at some reputable dealers or something similar to get a better idea?

And i mean reputable...cuz there are some real crooks out there.

  2. I just finished with an engine transplant on my 33 GTR.

My question is do I need to tell VicRoads? My understanding is from the Vicroads website is that I just have to drive down and get someone to inspect and make sure its the same engine. (Which it is just another RB26.)

Is it worth me taking my car down, or will I just get defected?

Let me know if anyone has had a similar experience.

I haven't had an engine transplanted, i have a thing for originals - but my advise to you is this. If youe unsure, give their office a call, ask the question. They'll soon tell you if you need to bring it in or not. I believe your insurance company will definitely want to know, however - as slways, better safe than sorry.

  3. Didn't mean you personally (unless you represent the entire Australian car industry).

And I could not agree more with the quote, hopefully it will happen like that!

Silver S3 FTW!!!!!!!! (swap headlamps for the ones from my S1... please?)

    ahahahahahaha. hahahaha...

don't think hes gonna fall for that somehow. S3 headlights are f'in sexy...i love em.

Have you tried sourcing the part elsewhere?

  4. kamikaze ninja, if your gtr is the one im thinking it is - damn nice dude, i was looking at it when it was forsale a few years ago! :P might still have some pics of it!

Bought the car from JapCars in Fawkner about a week ago. Under the impression it wasn't landed till maybe a couple months ago... but yeah. Lol i love the car...its amazing. just this one tiny niggly problem that ruins it for me =(

Getting it fixed by the boys at the dealership on Monday though, so should be fine.

  5. the blue is the build plate isnt it? that shouldnt ever be removed... as per the 'new to skylines' thread stickied in this forum.

I know mines still got the blue build plate but also has a sticker in the passenger side door, when opened, in pink, saying its compliant. other than that i havent really paid all that much attention to other plates and such...so im not probably much help. But make sure every decision you make in buying a GTR is thought through. you dont wanna buy a lemon just cuz it was the prettiest one.

  6. mmm...my turn.

    1997 R33 GT-R (Series 3)

    -Cons:

-After buying the car a week ago the fuel pump already needs replacing - thank god for warranty.

-Low front bar makes parking/driving up and down most standard driveways

-Shoddy roads in my suburb make my suspension emo.

-Idiots in commodores always trying to race it from the lights.

-Gearshifts jerky of a cold morning until engine warms up completely.

Everything else is fine. Lovez my GT-R.

  7. Oh thank god...

I just picked up my R33 Series 3 GTR about 5 days ago and she does this at least once every few days. Had no issues yesterday but driving home from work today, she died on me twice as the power just drained...ks dropped off, boost gauge needle went nuts, revs dropped to well below 1000 and then just died altogether. i was able to keep it alive for most of the drive by keeping the foot down and revving higher than i usually would, but this didnt always work. Luckily its under warranty for the time being...but i live about 90 mins from where i bought the car. so...this is a pain. do we have a definite cause - the afm or fuel pump - or is it a random thing?

  8. This will probably not be as helpful to you as the posts made by the other guys - given that they own 32 GTRs and i kinda...don't =b

But my R33 GTR is much the same. Getting more mileage out of the petrol now I've switched to Ultimate, but on the V-Power it averaged...oh...bout 18L/100. Nothing more fun to drive though.

worth every cent i spend on fuel and upkeep.

  9. Would be a good assumption that the 34 is only a GT for that price. If its really a GT-T...I'd be very, very wary.

I went through the same choice not too long back...oh the 33, i love the 33...but the 34 is newer...less ks...that sort of thing.

    So what i did?

    I bought a Series 3 R33 GT-R.

    =D

The guys are right though - was the same with me and my GT-R...i walked onto the lot, saw it there, went for a ride and just had to have it. You will know when you find the right one.

  10. Hi guys.

This may seem an embarrassing ask...and trust me it is lol =D

I've just bought myself an R33 GTR...Series 3 (1997). Now while ive managed to work out most of the switches and such inside the car, im still unsure as to where the switch to turn the rear wiper on is? and how to work the climate control panel (above the head unit) with any real kind of confidence.

All help is appreciated guys =D

    Thanks.

  11. Thanks for all the help guys. I'll admit to being a lil apprehensive about the whole process because...as youve said, you dont get to see it or drive it till you buy it...

Dave, can you tell me roughly how much id pay total cost to import a 34 GT-T? i've looked at your website and i do like the black 34...the one with 50 000kms on it...but i'd like to compare prices, see how much it would cost, that sort of thing...

and also, to chopobo (know it was a long time ago that post was made but whatever lol) it will depend what state youre in as to whether a 33 GTST is legal for a P Plater. Here in Vic they blow the older 125 kW p/ton law, if youve gotten your P's within the last year its even more illegal as that law does not apply to you (ive had my Ps for 2.5 years...almost free and clear! lol) thats why i hadnt bought one yet. Still got the N16 series 1 for the moment...plan to keep em both for a while, finances permitting. always good to have a backup...just in case. plus shes too fun to let go of just yet. Llama, would you have any tips on decent mods for the pulsar? you may PM me if you'd prefer

  12. Hi guys i'm fairly new here but I have a couple of questions...

first a quick background I guess, I'm 20 years old, I'm 21 in 9 months and so i've started saving up for my first Japanese import - ive been in love with Nissans since I was 16, but I decided to do the honest law obiding thing and wait till I was off of my P's to buy my first Skyline, because I was after the turbo model. Now that it's coming closer Ive decided to do a bit of research and ask around...

Would it be better to look around import specific dealerships such as the ones mentioned further up in this thread or importing my own direct from japan (through a broker, of course)? and if you do import the car through one of the brokers that have been given glowing reviews in this thread, is there any kind of security in that? for example, if you import a car and it turns out to be a dud and un-compliable/registrable do you then have to live with a car that you cant drive? For the moment I'm considering keeping my current daily even after buying an import for a little while just as a runaround and maybe turn it into a bit of a project later on. It will be costly but worth it i think. But yeah if i could get a couple of answers to the above questions it will be much appreciated...as im a bit of a newb to the import industry

  13. Ah I wish I could go...been a big dream for a while to go see Japan but I'm focussing on saving for my first Skyline  bit exciting. Only 9 more months and the P Plates stop ruining my life lol
