  1. Hi All,

I am running my 32 gtr in club sprint I was gutted last night to find out I can't run toyo 888s, so now I need a different tyre that meets the "street spec" rating ie rating over 100 any ideas?

im running Ku36's in clubsprint....what problems you have with the RSR's

  2. dropped it down today. going to try changing the oil to see if any improvement. if not its off for a refreshment.

im pretty sure the guys are using redline superlight shockproof gear oil which is ATF like.

yer the word is that the lightweight shock proof is excellent for other gearboxes but kills getrag.

my fingers are crossed that the oil is all it will need!!!!!

  3. hi all

im having problems when down changing from 4th to 3rd in my gtr. it first started after some track work and appears after another track day and a couple of mountain runs that its getting worse.

im getting a crunch/grind when down changing into 3rd. it only happens at high rpm and sounds like more of a gear grind rather than a lighter feeling syncho crunch. its really not happy trying to engage 3rd. all other gear engagement is fine either up or down gears.

just wondering what could cause this problem?? there is very little information out there about people having problems with the renowned strong getrag so am a bit confused..

would fluid help or does this sound more like a rebuild. what about clutch or could the syncho be shot. im taking it in to be looked at on wed but just thought id but a call out to anyone who may have experienced something similar

    cheers everyone

  4. i priced one of my re55s once, got it fix, my next trake day i did my fastest time, not saying the tires was better then b4 but it was fine at the track, just tell bob jane of whoever that u race on these tires so they do a great job!

    best of luck

how many laps in total have you done on it after the repair. was it only sprints or 6+ lap sessions on them

    cheers

  5. yer it has def punctured it. pumped it up and splashed water over it = bubbles.

there is about 70% tread left on them so would love to repair it if i know its safe and tried by a number of guys on here.

i had a front left let go on me not that long ago on Lakeside braking from 200km/h so i know that "oh f**k me" feeling and really wanna make sure its safe.

other problem is that i cant just replace one tire with full tread on a gtr can i ??? in regards to slight difference in rolling diameter or am i worrying to much..

    cheers guys

  6. does anyone know if the factory front diffusers on a r34 gtr still fits with the trust sump extension in place. i would assume it would be very close or a nice square would need to be cut out.

    any one got personal experience??

  7. I'll be there :D , well, hopefully a few of us will be :)

is there an entry form for general practice or is it just rock up and have fun... also do they have timing equipment working on these days.

    cheers

  8. Yer thats me, Cheers for the comment Harry. Congrats on the sub 60..thats awesome

The tire shop took responsibility for poor fitment. There was a small tear where the leak was at the bead. they said the bubbling was then formed from driving back into pits on the flat tire.

So they have ordered me a new tire and recommend i get it fitted elsewhere. Was very happy in the way they handled the situation.

Lets just hope there is no tears in the other 3.

  9. I also had an interesting time on sunday. First session of the day, second lap, i managed to get a front left flat. Turning on to the straight coming down the hill i thought thats weird i seam to have lost some grip. Through the kink seamed fine as the right side was loaded. Then as i hit the brakes at roughly 200 coming close to carousel the front left dipped on me. Once again thinking thats weird + HOLY SHIT. Managed to slow it down and went to turn in and understeered big time. Somehow got it around and back into pits to find the tire dead flat.

Went and pumped it up again to find the bead was leaking. got the psi up to 35 and the leak sealed. i then droped it back to 30psi (RE55s) and it was fine. i thought ill put it on the back assuming there would be less load on the tire and get back out there and take it easy.

However when i took the wheel off there was also two massive bubbles on the inside sidewall.

And that was the end of my day :P;) ...however im looking at the good side of things and glad i didnt end up in the tire wall!!

Took it to the tire shop today to see whether it was due to a fault in the tire or a fitment mistake...will be interesting to find out.

  10. Hi all i joined a while back trying to sell an evo 9 i had....now i have bought my new toy a bayside blue 34 gtr! Its the best car to drive and theres none in the part of brissie where i live...

    cheers

    Nathan!

where in bris are you... im on northside. you dont see many out my way on the roads.

  11. Defo

I would want the TT's for things like hillclimbs or 1-2 lap sprints.

SR2 all the way for 5 laps etc.

    :)

shit... ill have to do a couple easy laps then two hard. i swear i had picked up the sr2s from my mechanics. didnt realise till on the rim yesterday. and they were in my garage since march. oh well. should get some crazy grip when they re at the right temp... gotta be better than the 19in nankangs ive been on the track with the last couple times :)

  12. Wheels look great. Not sure if you are aware, the TT compound you have will go off within a lap or two as it's very soft. Maybe look at a SR2 compound if you attend track days regularly.

    Regards

    Andrew

Funny story cause i thought i had SR2 s till yesterday. Should have opened my eyes. Had heard they go off quickly but didnt realise that quick. I ll see how they go and try the SR2 s next time.

    Cheers andrew

  13. rims arrived. here are a few pics fitted on the rims and car. look like they pretty much fit perfect.

thought these pics will help anyone in the same boat i was in the future. now just gotta get to the track. 18x10.5 +15 rims with Re55s 265/35/R18.

    cheers.

  14. i run 265's on my 18x10 wheel on an R32.

On an R34 why wouldnt you go 285 over a 10.5 rim?

    Michael

Cause i already bought the re55s several months ago. my mechanic got onto a bulk buy so picked them up at good price.

thanks for the feedback guys...the more opinions the better!!..even if it does make the decision harder

  15. Cheers andrew

my main concern is will a 10.5 stretch the 265 slightly too much and will this especially on the front promote less grip and understeer then with a 9.5

im getting to the point where i dont think it will matter as i am no pro driver but still want the best set up.

  16. Hi all

About to purchase some track rims for my 34 gtr. i currently have 265 re55s tires waiting to put on them. i am just interested in whether you guys are running 18x10.5 or 18x9.5 rims with this tire or tire size.

so far im getting told that a 10.5 is too big one minute and then another opinion saying that the 9.5 is too small. i have no experience here so need advise from more experienced people.

    Cheers

    Ben m

  17. Here's some quick chops for ya mate.

Not sure what the titanium silver weds should look like in the lightning of the pic of your car I used so I did 3 diff shades, hopefully one is close enough.

Dont think I got your gold right in the carpark pic (though its hard to tell what it would look like in that lighting as not familiar with it) but hopefully gives you a rough idea of the black LMGT4s on ur car.

    cogs

cheers mate that awesome... i got no idea how you guys do this stuff.
