  1. Google + SAU + Chris Rogers = Problem Solved Have to say a big thanks to SAU and an even bigger thanks to Chris. Its been a long storey of frustration trying to get the standard head unit swaped for a double din. Brief explanation; Tired 3 installers here in Ireland to sort out the stero, all looking for upwards of 2000 Euro, and even at that couldnt figure out how to actually source the parts or install. So I googled, found SAU (loads of info) which lead me to Chris. Droped him a mail asking for some help (long shot I thought). Next I know parts ordered thru Chris, shipped straight from Japan to Ireland ..... Cool me thinks ..... but then a bit of panic cos I have no idea of anything to do with car electrics. But its all came apart and back together new new fascia,AC controls adaptor cables and head set .. So thats it ... Happy for now. Next bit of the puzzle is to figure out how the head set to sat/nav screen adaptor works ....
  2. hello again to all at skylinesaustrslia Really need some help so maybe you guys can help. But first off, I want to say a thanks to Chris Rogers, for those that dont know, i'm in dublin ireland, prob only about 10 350gt's in the country so no real forum/club/help as such, anyways Chris offered to send all the bits i need to do a double din swap (centre consul panel, adapters, ac unit etc), that is a pretty decent thing for someone to offer, yeah so really, thank Chris. So heres my problem, i will try and keep this short. I can get all the gear i need to do a head set swap out, problem is the total cost would be in excess of €1700.00 (expensive head set included). Plus there always the fact that i would like to keep the cars centre panel (unless as it is) orignial. So what i was thinking was i would keep the centre consul as is, and add a second head unit elsewhere on/in the dash. Unfortunalty i dont know the first thing about electrics ... What i have learned from striping out the original head set is that the power to the a/c unit doesnt work if the head set is removed. So if i want to keep the original head set and a/c controls in tack i would need to keep the power supply. The wires attached to the back of the head set are coloured coded and labeled so to an non electrial type like me. its easy to see which wires are for what. What i was wondering, can the existing power and ignition switch wires be spliced to feed a seperate head set and just extend all the existing speaked wires to attach to a new head set. ok this may all be completely wrong, hence i need some help and again sorry the post is so long any adice much appriciated oh .. Chris, while i am looking at the above solution, it may prove to be beyond my knowledge, if that the case i hope i can still take you on your offer to send the parts if needed. thanks tom
  3. thanks for the help lads .... my car is a 2006 350gt .... had 300zx for years, never liked the look of the 350's till i actually saw one irl ... liked it a lot then. I'd like to wait for the conversion disk, but need a proper cd/radio ... was thinking about a Kenwood DNX-7200 (seems pretty good) Chris you flying to Ireland any time soon .... you get the flight and i'll pay the install
  4. hello all, been spending a few days reading all the posts on sat nav conversion/replacement .. getting more confused. a few bits you might be able to help me with 1 ... is there any real chance that russian conversion cd will ever happen 2 ... I'm just about to get a double dinn replacement units (2k ) ... not really happy about this as i would prefer to keep the centre console as it, but it just dont work. 3 ... by putting in a double dinn unit and moving up the ac control unit, does the original pop up screen have to be taken out or can it be left in the unit ( i dont want to put in a blanking unit if possible). 4 ... last thing, if i do go the double dinn route and leave in the original screen, is it possible to run a cable from the new unit to the original screen, ok i would have the same image on both screens but i prefer the position of the original screen (easier to see) thanks for any help/advice you might have
