  1. Not a good idea to use a NEO thermostat as they open @ 82c (cooling system at about 88-92ish celcius) while the genuine non-NEO opens @ 76.5c (cooling system at about 80-84ish celcius), NEOs by design like to run alittle hotter which is why they have the different thermostat.

    Thanks for the advice.

What's your take on running it with a larger aftermarket aluminum rad?

  2. A friend of mine is trying to install a thermostat designed for the NEO (PN: 21200-V7205) in my series 2 RB25DET and so far he has managed to crack two of the housings when tightening.

Is the R34 thermostat housing different and therefore necessary to install the thermo?

Is there a "ring" or washer that is supposed to be used when installing the thermostat?

  3. Thanks alot for the quick reply.

I'm going with the car to pick up the CAS, so basically what you're saying is:

    1) Look for one that fits the plug (it's easy to unplug rather than remove the entire thing).

    2) Ensure it also has a rubber plug in the centre?

  4. I'm looking to find a replacement for my CAS in my RB25DET SII. I've used the search and looking at them I'm still left a little confused and would like a 100% sure answer before going to my contact for a replacement.

Now the guy I'm supposed to check for my replacement says he has a number of RB CAS' but he's not sure from which motors they're from (either RB20/25 or 26). What I would like to know, short of removing my CAS and walking with it, is their anyway to identifying which CAS would work in the SII?

  5. I think mine is doing the same :S

So far I'm leaning towards the CAS on my RB25. From 4500 up on a dyno sheet it can be seen where the graph drops off from 145 hp and tries to climb again only to reach a max of 145 @ the rev limit.

  6. it could be a few things, when did the problem start? Whats changed since the problem started?

any error lights on the dash? auto or manual ? any hacks / mods done on the car which are bogus (ie mangled safc installs etc)

any diag from the greddy emanage? how is it tuned? does stock ECU give any errors (get consult)

This is what happens when people actually use the search :P

I bumped an old thread because I am experiencing similar problems. Dyno'd my car and it barely made anywhere close to what it's supposed to.

  7. I have a 500km old wideband O2 sensor installed which tells me AFRs are fine :D Confirmed by a second dyno sheet from the 158kW run which shows identical AFRs throughout the rev range to the 205kW run a year ago. 11.8 for the last few thousand RPM. Air/fuel filters are <5000kms old and plugs are <2000kms old.

Cheers for the suggestions so far, i'm about to start pulling it apart.

    Ever resolved this problem?

Experiencing the same on a completely stock RB25DET. Didn't do the conversion (into an A31) myself so I'm about to purchase a multimeter to start checking if the fuel pump is receiving the required voltage or if the coilpacks, AFM or TPS are failing.
