Turbo's Not Boosting! Please Help!
andygtr93 replied to JvN!L32GTR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Ive had the exact same symptoms twice... both times the rear turbo let go quickest way is get under the car, hit the cat converter with your hand, and see if it rattles. If one turbo is gone, the engine wont boost. Get a set of GT-SS turbos if you like the standard response but want more power. Dont replace with one standard turbo like I did... its cheaper short term, but Im just coming out of a $10G plus repair on my engine -
Im in... everyone loves pizza

Hey guys, found out today that unigroup is booked out till the 23rd of september so I'll be waiting 3 weeks before a dyno sheet is attached to this.... oh well Drove it to work today.... I never realised how much I missed it till I gave it a hit down the F3... thats made the whole thing worth it Congratulations to everyone who has rebuilt or replaced anything in their skyline in the past, or even in the future... they aren't exactly the easiest thing to fix, but when they're going... they're awesome

I'll give a power figure once the power fc is in and tuned... HKS GTSS turbos Custom (EXPENSIVE) oil and coolant lines Exhaust manifolds opened up Sard 700cc injectors Tomei fuel pump Tomei 260 cams with standard gears unknown bigger cooler HKS pod filters Nismo NE1 exhaust with twin cats exedy lightened flywheel and cushion button clutch Nismo plugs Greddy Profec B spec 2 boost controller Hoping for a shade over 300kW but the response is awesome all through the rev range If I could afford texi I would... but I got over 2 grand in rego coming up in early october and my 12 grand savings that I had 2 months ago, quickly became just enough for a power fc tune and petrol to get me to work and back till I earn more... and Im gonna have to borrow cash for rego as it is Thanks guys, the smile goes from ear to ear... pretty ugly sight actually

OK guys, this is probably a stupid thread, but Im sure many people will have been in the same place so can understand me on this one... Its been over 4 months, somewhere between 13 and 15 grand, and so many late nights and long weekends, but my skyline lives again I bought it in october, had the gearbox out in early november to replace the clutch and flywheel, blew a rear turbo in january, and popped the engine in april... Its alive again though... with new engine, new turbos, new hoses, and a few painted covers and the power fc will be installed and tuned in the next week or two, along with the fuel pump, injectors, and boost controller.... ABOUT TIME!!! What do you think???

Do we have a confirmed date on this yet?

Thats the one.... doesn't go to anything... that's awesome... Ive been trying to figure it out for over a week I should have paid more attention when I was taking it all apart. Thanks for your help mate

Can anyone confirm or deny this???

Is the oil temp sender plug towards the front of the front of the filter housing? Ive got one plug which is a spade shape of the front of the filter housing but thats plugged in... the wire Im talking about is a smaller plug, with a more circular shape single pin.. it isnt hidden next to the yellow plug with the rubber boot around it is it?

Hey guys, just wondering if someone who has done a few of these can help me out? Im ready to put an engine in my gtr, Ive swapped the vacuum lines off the inlet side, ive put the exhaust side including the turbos on, swapped the wiring harness over, and now I have a single pin connector and no visible sensor to connect it to As the wiring runs, it should be near the back of the oil filter housing, or near the aac valve There is no single pin connector on the car near it, and Im just wondering if there is an extra wire in the harness for an accesory I dont have or anything like that... Im hoping to put the engine back in the car tomorrow after 4 months off the road... PLEASE help me out here guys

R32 Gtr Turbo Coolant And Oil Lines... Help!
andygtr93 replied to andygtr93's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Ok guys... please dont laugh, my wallet is in too much pain at the moment enzed wouldn't touch it, another hose repairer we use at work wouldn't go anywhere near it.. and after some convincing, I finally got pirtek to make teflon coated braided hose for $850 for 4 coolant, and 2 oil hoses... it looks pretty cool, and all fits perfectly with the hks gt-ss and the dump pipes but OUCH... I think the next upgrade to my gtr will probably require me to sell an organ, anyone know what a used kidney is worth? How about a liver? -
Blue Smoke From Exhaust When Sitting At Lights
andygtr93 replied to bnr#@'s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
It sounds like it.. all the symptoms are pointing to that. Sorry man, that sucks Ask your performance shop though... I could be wrong but that does sounds right -

To replace valve stem seals... exhaust and inlet manifolds off, which means turbos off, from my experience it would have to be near impossible to get the inlet manifold off with the engine in the car, possibly new head bolts depending if the ones used are stretch bolts, then getting the old seals out, the price of new seals, and then the reassembly. depending on labour rates, parts availability, and condition of everything else internally... could be a costly fix Hence the reason I'd be recommending to monitor the engine oil every few days. Or you could join the ever expanding club of GTR owners who spend all their money on their cars and get the head port matched to the manifold while everything is off the car As usual its a case of how big your wallet is -

Id just be monitoring the oil level and how much its blowing when you start it first thing in the morning... just MAKE SURE you check the oil level regularly, the last thing anyone wants is a GTR with a popped engine, as Ive just experienced, even parts are expensive and if you're not a mechanic, the labour charge would be painful Best of luck with it -

The oil has to be getting into the cylinder from somewhere then. If its isolated to a single cylinder, that means it wouldnt be from the turbos because then it would go into all 6 cylinders and there would be oil on all the plugs. Seeing as how you have had the valve stem seals replaced thats the first place Id be checking... How much smoke is coming out and how closelely can you monitor the oil level... like if it only slightly drops over a few days it might be cheaper to just live with it and check your oil regularly -

Is the oil on the electrode of the spark plug or the ceramic? Oil on the electrode side of the spark plug and blowing blue (oil) smoke would indicate to me that your valve stem seals are leaking. If your compression is fine then it won't be rings. Does it blow blue smoke when you first start it? The metal valve stem seals would expand slightly when it heats up with engine temperature which, in theory, should mean it would leak more on cold start, then when the engine is at operating temperature -
Im in... pretty flexible with dates but a Sunday would be preferred Andy, R32 GTR
