  2. quick question fellas...putting an after market forward facing plenum on my 25 with 770cc injectors would i need to change the fuel rail or can i just leave the standard one from the 25?? cheers

  6. hey guys got my 180sx with a RB25 in it, its been unlicensed for a while but been thinking about getting it licensed as i will be starting my motor build for my 32.. Just wondering if any knows and/or has been through the process and can give me a heads up on people that can give the certificates and costs involved?? thanks
  7. yea thats what a picture in that link i posted of the head proengines did, it looked like they opened it up to suit the gasket and welded the bottom part of the gallery.. if you dont mind posting more pics when you get yours done, just to give me more to show the guys doing my head and for my knowledge aha
  8. under what? cant seem to find the right page and they have no search bar aha
  9. I think its worth it depending on your budget? and how far your willing to go with it? i suggest getting a few prices on half cuts or engine/ gearboxes/ wiring harness etc see how much they will set you back not to mention labour if your not doing the conversion yourself and match it to your budget... my 32 had a 25 in it was good fun, now its in my 180
  10. thanks for the pic i looked at your other ones on your thread and couldnt really see where you got it welded besides the vct aha now that you have marked it out makes things alot clearer.. thanks for the help
  11. these pics deffinatly help, thanks saved them along with the comments on them so i can show the guys doing my headwork, and now understand why it has to be welded up for sealing purposes
  12. that does help me understand it more, when i finich the block and start head work ill use the info i just got and some pics to show the guys who do our head work and leave it to them... just wanting to get some info on it so i no what im on about thanks man
  13. hey guys just wondering when welding up the water gallery on the 25 head you use a 30 head gasket as a template ive seen pics on another thread and i dont see what there is to weld? proengines showed a pic of what they did and it doesnt look like they welded anything or are they "opening" the water gallery up to suit the 30? wouldnt it be just as easier welding the block to suit the 25 head and use a 25 head gasket? got the link if unsure on what im talking about http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Rb...ld-t304470.html any advice will help, cheers
  14. ey guys does anyone know a place in perth or website where i can buy a crank collar for a dirty 30 crank to suit a 26 N1 oil pump for a 25/30 build?? cheers
  15. thanks man helps alot im going for the same cp pistons aswell with 260 deg camshafts with 10.25mm lift so if you didnt have a problem then i technically shouldnt, but will use that blue-tack trick sounds like a good idea t make sure thanks
  16. hey guys quick question concerning a headgasket and valve clearance, do i need to use a specific headgasket with a certain thickness for a RB25/30 for valve clearance so pistons dont smash into the valves? pr is there no issues involved with just using a metal headgasket? cheers
  17. i reckon, made a mistake i think the lower thread is between the last 2 10mm bolts holding wtaer pump to the block from memory and if i saw right where the idler pulley goes, not sure if thats how they came from factory? but above the water pump the block is nicely machined flat for a new tensioner going for another look to make sure that that idler pulley thread is in the same spot as the pic in the build thread
  18. yea thats what i thought, funny thing was it had the standard SOHC head on... weird
  19. Today found a 30 bottom end from a 87 calais (apparantly 87 onwards are series 2 motors?) and of course had the oil/water feeder galleries and oil turbo return and from what i could see from behind the timing cover was a thread tapped out which would be used for the idler pulley for the conversion.. It looks like its in the same place as the idler pulley which is shown in the build thread
  20. cheers for that man, ive been told aparantly 87 onwards the vl RB30's are series 2 and they said the same thing about the R31 RB30's.. Found a 30 bottom end from a 87 calais and from what i could see behind the timing cover was actually a thread tapped out already for a idler pulley looks like its in the same location as the one ive seen on the RB30DET build thread..hopefully in luck :-)
  21. so really i should get a block from an R31?
  22. ey fellas im abit confused, have read a few other threads but thought i might ask the question myself.. I understand that by putting on a RB25DET head onto a RB30 block the heads oil VCT hole has to be welded up and a external one has to be made due to the RB30 not having this hole in the block.. im just confused on the water gallery jacket and what head gasket i should use?? correct me if im wrong but my understanding is you have to weld up the heads water jacket to suit the RB30 block or vice-versa?? and do i use a RB30 Or RB25 headgasket?? And one other thing how can you tell the difference between a series 1 and series 2 RB30 block? it says in the build thread i need a short motor with the turbs oil/ water feedr and return lines and has both tensioner locations machined flat.. i assume i use the RB30 from a vl?? cheers
  23. ey fellas doing some homework for an RB25/30DET motor build came across some info (dont quote me i may be wrong) but i need a series 2 RB30 block? due to the fact it has the oil and water galleries and return for the turbo and has the lugs on the front of the block machined flat to mount the tensioners? (please correct me if im worng) so my question is how do i tell the difference between a series 1 and series 2 motor? or simply is a series 2 motor ut of a vl hence the water and oil feeder galleries? any info will help cheers
  24. any ideas of who to use? only person i can think of is kermit
  25. thats what i thought was hoping it wouldn have to come to that, thought i could use it considering it came with the car for free... you think custom piping is expensive?
