  1. thanks for the info, i just wanted to know.. believe it or not, i've been driving the car after i left the mechanic without the spring on the tensioner =| i bought a timing belt kit so it includes everything..
  2. hi guys.. im currently doing the timing belt/waterpump job.. soon as i checked on the pulleys, i found the tensioner pulley didnt had the spring.. the 100k service was done by a reputable tuning shop =| anyway, can someone tell me what the spring in the tensioner pulley does? its done more than 75k after the 100k service was done..
  3. hey guys, can you give me some advice on how to remove and install the harmonic balancer.. i will be doing the timing belt replacement that's why im asking some tips/advice.. also, the car is auto so how do i lock the flywheel/harmonic balancer from moving while removing/installing it.. i've also read somewhere to use an old alternator belt twisted then tightened using the alternator, but i really dont want to do that.. i wanna know if there is another way.. i've also tried nissan for the special but they dont have it or the part number of the tool is not in their database..
  4. i really don't want to just seal the hole, but for a quick fix i'll just fill it up with gasket maker.. my understanding with the N1 pump is that, its got a less fin compared to the RB25's & RB30's.. i read too that its best use for track, street wise is not so good.. but i could be wrong..
  5. how much price difference is there between the RB25 and RB30 water pump? yeah it would've been nice if my mechanic did that but i guess he's confident that it wont leak and just leave the bolt out.. just for peace of mind, i'd rather get the RB25 pump.. im thinking of getting the 100k service even though it's only done 75k since the last one.. but also thinking of going to a different mechanic..
  6. thanks for that axe so the M6 hole on the RB30 pump does not line up with the block? i take it that the elongated hole would be the RB25 pump? i would really prefer to put a bolt there but if that's the case then i'll just fill it up with gasket maker.. when the mechanic showed me the other jobs they did with the RB30 pump fitted, they didn't even filled it up with gasket maker.. i just hope their job last the next 100k..
  7. hi guys! my water pump is leaking coolant in the #1 hole of the water pump which is where the M6 bolt goes in.. 100k service was done at start of this year and only noticed it last month that there was no bolt on the M6 hole.. my question is, what is the difference between the rb25 and rb30 water pump? i've also looked through pictures online and they seem to be similar and the rb30 can be fitted on an rb25de engine.. i went to the mechanic today and showed him that there was a bolt missing on the water pump.. he told me that he fitted a 'high performance' rb30 water pump and it was bigger than the OEM water pump.. he didnt include the M6 bolt because the holes don't line up.. he also showed me some of the works he's done in his workshop with the M6 bolt not fitted.. the M6 hole on my water pump is not an elongated one found on the rb30's.. and got me thinking its not an rb30 water pump! can i still put an M6 bolt there? can any please shed some light to this? thanks guys!!
  8. sorry i forgot to add that the car was 'auto' as well.. here are some pics.. i've also replaced the ground/earth leads on the car..

  10. for that info R34 -_- .. i'll look into that.. i might invest on one l8r down the road.. just currently replacing my rocker gasket and cleaning my aac valve (i think).. also cleaning the TB.. thank u again
  11. i see.. i understand it now .. but wouldnt it be weird if i put an oil catch can in my n/a engine? i thought that oil catch cans are most useful for turbo/high performance cars? is there a lot of sau members out there with an oil catch can in their n/a engine?
  12. tnx guys for your inputs.. i was lookin thru n/a section last nite and there was a similar issue with a guy who's got a 34.. if that was pretty normal then im at ease to know/for now.. as for your question Eug, i didnt replaced my intake pipe but i did attached a pod filter a couple of months after i got my car..
  13. hi guys.. when i had the intake pipe removed and saw the dirt on the TB, i've decided that i wanted to clean it.. after removing the TB from the inlet manifold, i've also noticed oil/dirt inside the inlet manifold.. is this normal? is there a way of cleaning it? can anyone explain this to me?.. im just a lil' worried.. i had rough idling before due to faulty coils but i've fixed that and replaced the spark plugs as well.. apart from that, the car is running fine.. tnx guys..
  14. hi guys.. just wanting to know if any1 here in SAU has replaced their battery leads?.. im planning on replacing mine with an 8 or 4 gauge wire.. reason for this is i need a new battery and the lead terminals are screwed right onto the battery terminals.. meaning i have to make a hole on the new battery terminal in order for me to connect the leads.. i'll try and post a pic.. if any1 here has done it, is it easy to do? especially replacing the positive lead.. tnx..
