  1. Gents, My wedding is getting closer and closer and my plan has always been to rent the car, or hire a driver with an R35 GTR. I used to own a 34 and it was a really good car to me and I would like the breed to be there on the main day. I have done the standard google search and have only found two websites in melb that offer a rental service. Problem is you have to be over 30 to drive it. The excess is 10k and the price for a weekend is $3000. Now I would consider this but at the time of a wedding I don't think I would get the full use of it as I will understandably be busy with other things! Can anyone point me in the direction of a reputable rental company OR a private owner who would be interested? The main use will be for arrival of the bride and exit of the bride and groom from the ceremony. The car will then take us to the reception where special parking will be organised in a prime viewing position. This will be in the Gippsland (VICTORIA), primarily Traralgon area. (Ceremony still TBD). Early Jan 2014. For the privateer, they would be paid of course. They would also enjoy the benefits of free drinks and food. But most importantly, be sent photo's of their pride and joy from the photographer. Kind Regards, Angus and Sally.
  2. Took it in and made a booking. Mechanic said it is definitely not the coil packs. Apparently I would be experiencing lots of missfire's etc and would know about it. Showed him the error results and he said he would trace out that particular circuit when it comes in. Either way, I guess I am in for an expensive ride... :-(
  3. Ah ok. Well thanks heaps. I guess this means I won't bother with the oil change. I'll book the car in now I guess. Bit of a pain considering I'm selling it but I guess the next person will be getting a little extra! Thanks heaps for the help. $500 Splitfire coils $100 Install I'll see what the workshop quotes me lol. Thanks again, Gus.
  4. I'm not sure how valid this is, but I have been told that the camera's need to allow for an Error percentage (5% in Vic I think), plus you may need to allow for how far the speedometer is out. Add these together and maybe, just maybe it will be a little easier. Never the less.... dont be a fool!!!
  5. Thanks for your quick reply Dan. I just went out into the cold and tried the above. I short the two connections for +2secs when ignition is on, and the Engine light disapears and then returns to blink twice, followed by a shorter blink, then repeats this over and over. The tutorial says that it will indicate with "DTC 55" but I cant see this happening with any numbers or DTC, just the engine light blinking. When I go on to the Oxy Sensor, and start the engine, the Engine light appears straight away and stays on. Sorry if I am missing something but I don't know how to record the results. Any Ideas? Thanks again
  6. Hi guys!. I have been reading this topic in hope for an explanation to my small problem but none are quite the same and I am really hoping an expert can come to my rescue! Perhaps, as listed above the problem is the coilpacks but like Dan said, its useless replacing a part unless u know what the problem is. I live in a remote area which means NISSAN is probably my best bet for a computer for the error codes which will be $$$ so I thought I'd run it past you first. My problem consists of the Engine light only, with no bad smells or shaky engine no matter how I treat the car. The engine light will appear at random but never at start up. For the majority of the time the engine light will not appear until after about 30-40min of driving. I own an R34 GT 4spd Auto. The only thing I can think of is at its last service, the "Motorsports" service center I take it to, filled the oil up quite high on the dipstick (even at cold) and I am wondering if there is some form of sensor that could get tripped when the oil expands? Never the less I will drain a little tomorrow. Anyways, I'm looking forward to a response as I hope to sell this car in the near future. I will however do whatever it takes to fix it up as best I can first!
  7. Ah i see. So in the other models (GT-T or manuals?) the aircon unit is wider so that it can fit in the top spot as the sides of the pockets increase from bottom to top? Thanks a lot for the advice. Make sense to me now and when I look at pictures of nice double din pockets in other skylines I can understand why! I might try and fabricate something to blend it in! Thanks Gus.
  8. Here is a pic. Even if the head unit was moved down to the bottom, there would still be a small gap
  9. I will take some asap - Currently I have foam pieces cut to fill the gaps so it doesn't look too bad. As for your question, I have put the plastic from the head unit on, it is only about 5-10mm thick and just hides the metal housing for the head unit. The gaps are about 20 - 30mm wide on each side. Thanks for the reply!
  10. Hey guys. Firstly, very thankful for this site and all of the people who have added their experiences and advice. It has helped me so much during my Skyline adventure. I have had a good search (correct me if I am wrong) but I cannot find any information on the gaps either side of my universal head unit in my R34. I have installed just your basic head unit and everything functions fine but there are some very distracting gaps either side of the face. I noticed that the R34 dash where the head unit and AC unit is installed also gradually advances in distance from bottom to top making it hard to install one of those generic pockets from super cheap etc. If this doesn't make sense to you... maybe because my car has some disabilities, or my description is that of an 8yr old's, I will gladly post up some pictures for you on request. I just thought that all the previous people who have installed Head units with the generic Australian size would of come across the same problem too! Any information about how to cover these gaps up would be much appreciated! Gus.
