  1. Tell me about it! On the day we got it first I almost sent the thing into the back of my parents navara when I was putting it on the trailer then I almost sent it backwards through our bedroom window when we got it home! The brake pedal goes straight to the floor, that must have been a factory option. this is a pic of the cars owner (my better half) and the car trailer/launch ramp on the day we picked it up.
  2. Thanks heaps for that, thats the same series as mine so hopefully he'll be able to shed some light on easily transferable parts.
  3. The before shots are a bit of crack up, although the car is complete and free from major rust its still not what I'd call a "survivor" I'm going to keep a bit of build diary in this section so my stuff will be documented for all to see. lol
  4. Same same. Sooooooooooo much to do though its just not funny. Fortunately the B/in law is a body and paint man and as much as I'm no mechanical marvel I have tackled some tricky conversions already. (multipoint EFI in a 550hp chrysler V8, what a headache) This one is going to be the all out build though so stay tuned. Just noticed you've got a stagea, no wonder you like this idea.... lol
  5. I've started a thread outlining the mission statement of my 1966 nissan cedric Rb conversion in this section but I figured I'd throw a couple of questions out there for the majority of you that know a lot more about classic nissans and datsuns. 1. brakes: I have a complete running r31 sedan as a donor car and would like to use as much as I can in the conversion. I'd like to use the brakes since I'm using the diff from the 31 the rear brakes are a no brainer but is there a way of using the front brakes from the r31? 2. As the cedric has an L20 I figure the sump and other clearance issues will be similar to those who have done the rb conversion in early Zcars but any extra light or good links would be sweet. 3. Steering, many of you done R&P conversions in old nissans? of course I'm looking to use the one from the skyline parts car. I know my car is a bit older than what most of you work on but any help would be appreciated. Link PS anyone in Brisbane who wants to come and hang out when the mayhem starts or even needs an extra set of hands when they're pulling their ride apart feel free PM me
  6. We're doing it! we've got a Cedric in the shed 1/2 disassembled and a R31 waiting to be stripped of its running gear. Can't wait to surprise a few falcadore drivers by toasting them with grandma's stationwagon.
  7. Well tires will be short lived...... lol We're also going to try and tuck a set of 19's we got with car underneith it. In keeping with the philosophy of the build the wheels we're using are a stock nissan wheel. Even so I'm going to minitub the rear and possibly tub the front. The front tubs are fairly roomy stock and given the RB+turbo will be space hungry it'll be good if the front tubs don't need altering.
  8. Well my Girl friend and I are probably insane but our plan is to install a rb25/30 turbo motor into a 1966 Cedric. For those who don't know this is a 66 cedric:
  9. I will once I get a start on it. At the moment its about 3rd in line in terms of projects but since the car is my GF's no doubt it'll get pushed to the head of the line. I'll start a thread on the build in the classics section so I can start to get some ideas flowing with some of you guys. PS that pic of the cedric is from an old nissan/datsun promo but it is the color we're painting ours. Here's the one we have in the shed: However it seems to be complete and came with a running 2L six and 3 speed manual.......... (I'm thinking turbo FED with the left over bits.... hehehe) Anyway I'll jump over to the classic section and start rambling there. link
  10. Hey all, Been lurking for a bit now and have picked up lots of great info from this site already. Lots of clever people on here thats for sure. My GF and I have a skyline in the back yard but thats only a small part of the story. Our R31 is here as a heart transplant for a 66 cedric wagon. We intend to do the good old rb25/30 engine build then shoe horn that into the cedric. For the uninitiated I'll post a pic of a cedric wagon so you can visualize what I'm talking about. Well I'll leave it at that for the moment you'll be hearing lots more from me as this project gradually gets moveing. Link
