  1. Thought it would be good for stag owners to let other stag owners what mods they consider to be the best/value and performance gains made, also things that might have been a waste of money.Love to here all your thoughts and latest mods So to get the ball rolling just fitted 2 my c34 an e bay split dump pipe 3 inch Hks copy $120 delivered and decatted my cat. Good power gains were made car comes on boost a lot quicker and not really much louder. Stag on
  2. I think your series 2 turbo should pass fine as they look identical externally and it is a factory Nissan part. But make sure all factory boost lines are in stock positions and you are not running any bleed valves or T pieces or ebc. Just run the factory boost solenoid wired on standard mode not on high boost mode all the time. And all should be sweet!! good luck
  3. Be a good car for my mum I worked at a compliance bike shop in qld and we used to comply bikes that were not exactly what they said on the plate (slightly different model)But i think due the volume of cars complied in qld, they seem to slip through the cracks. And inspections in qld can be done at privately owned servos. For $3500 would make a good daily drift hack. Should I tell him he is dreaming
  4. + 1 kiwi rs4 yes bigger core in stock radiator good idea as it can be cleaned properly. I also purchased a radiator sock from radiator guy ( like mesh) and it stops any crap going in new radiator it lasts for 12000Km.and sits in top hose .would be a good idea on those using an alloy radiator as well( as not easy to clean)Good peace of mind. Stay cool stag doods :
  5. woops on on the over tighten!! plus plastic tanks were probably very brittle if that makes your heavy hand feel better. Big alloy radiator is very nice but you will not achieve temp drops as the the thermostat controls the engine operating temps. where your larger alloy radiator will be an advantage will be under extreme operating conditions such as track work ,hard driving , extreme hot weather, reduced air flow for example fitments of large front mount. high boost etc thats when a larger alloy radiator will be beneficial. If you do fit ally cooler and your stag is auto dont cheap out and bypass first trans cooler as some one suggested as this will just put more stress on trans and you dont want to have to fix trans way more painful than fixing radiator. buy the the best trans cooler you can afford!!Otherwise you are just taking a step backwards!!One negative of the alloy cooler is they are not easy to remove tanks to clean core tubes as aluminium welding is not cheap!! so radiator is basically throw away. plastic tanks are crimped on with a large o ring seal. so easy to clean and remove.summing up you have work out what you are using the car for track/ hard beatings / front mount or just missus daily with the occasional squirt if the latter just drop the radiator off tommorow for new tank and and clean as stated b4 $150 bang back on road tomorrow night.+1 misses is happy Use a good quality coolant and make sure bleed cooling system and check for other crappy hoses that might be on the way out. Just trying save stag owners money by passing on many yrs of performance motoring experience
  6. r33 radiator is exactly the same so no upgrade. but bigger ally radiator for r33 will fit no probs and work well . but if your car is auto you will need an extra trans cooler. Stock radiator works fine when not full of shit. My car was not running hot but got radiator cleaned out and new top tank and cap for $150 sweet . the radiator guy told me it was 50% blocked! The main prob is in japan they are reluctant to put coolant in cars.Removing radiator only requires 10mm spanner and large pliers 4 the hose clamps. there are no bottom bolts just 2 top 1's and and 2 self tappers 4 the shroud. would not worry about the bung to much as long as it does not leak.Replace hose clamps with better 1's(screw driver type) then it will only take 30 secs to dump fluid the next time. piss that bottom tray of as it only gets in the way. takeing radiator out is only a 5 min job!!! Best o luck
  7. Dont be lazy take radiator out go get the core cleaned out rodded $100 at radiator joint. I would say if your radiator is murgy sludgy..... the rest of radiator is full of crap and stag radiators are only 1 core(other sports cars 3core) so you want it cleaned properly not just flushed otherwise come summer you risk blowing head and trust me you dont want to fix head $$$$$$$$ . especially if your car is modded front mount etc. blocks cooling air trust me the cooling system on rb25 is not something you want to skimp on!!! and dont forget to bleed cooling system, bleeder nut located between inlet manifold and rocker cover. All i am trying to do is save stag owners money in the long run
  8. Woops sorry guys did not mean to start a debate about turbo timers in the defect thread. All interesting points of view... cheers!! I suppose it comes a lot down to personal taste and mainly really driving style I live in the hills so my car sees a fair bit of boost most of the time or driving on track.I do the slow down drive b4 stopping as suggested as current ride has no timer...previous did..and found timer handy. Best of luck to the guy in the purple GTR getting the defect off and to anyone else going through that Was that purple GTR the one I saw @ the Mt Alma hill climb??? Just heard they are going to start crushing hoon cars in 1 month
  9. I put rb30 vl t water pump on my rb25 no probs yes one bolt hole does not line up the small one on top right fill it with silicone and bit extra around gasket area no probs. generally when a water pump fails its not from the gasket surface its from the internal water pump seal wich comes in contact with the moving shaft and when the seal goes it will spew water out of the tell tail hole on the top or bottom of the pump. I paid $69 for a jap made rb30 pump with a 2yr warranty cant complain about the price.!!! If money is no problem buy the n1... but I prefer extra cash left in my pocket for beer and more performance orientated mods.... changing the pump is a bitch of a job because you have to pull so much crap off.... it can be done without removing timing belt just the tensioner and zip tie the belt in place so cam timing does not change if you are not confident removing cam belt and two save time. You will need a harmonic balancer puller to remove balancer otherwise you are going to damage it and loose skin off your knuckles.( dont just hit it with a hammer) puller cost $15 from autopro. Top cam cover allen key bolts fit in balancer no probs with a few washers as spacers. Have fun allow the best part of a day for this job. could be done quicker but I prefer to take my time and make sure all gasket surfaces are super clean. ...have fun concluding rb30 pump on rb25 no probs!!! save your dollars!! Direct from the ghetto!! Ha Ha!! not really ghetto. more ghetto is bodgey work done .... putting a second hand pump on is super ghetto!!http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/style_images/1/folder_post_icons/icon6.gif
  10. Why do you say turbo timers are only useful on on track cars?? when every manufacture of turbo cars recommends idling your car for a period of time after driving the car hard to cool the turbo down....sitting in the car park for 2 minutes cooling the turbo is not my idea of fun... hence turbo timers on the street cars are a practical idea sadly not legal... just a point of view not a diss!!j
  11. That was my silver rs4 on longwood rd yours must have been the black 260rs nice car!! not on ne rd only really drive around hills as just live out of aldgate.. saw r35 gtr 5mins b4 i sore your 260rs
