  1. im running the stock box no worries. seems to flow enough.

more interesting was the almost stock looking Stillen Set up.. has anyone here done it?

I have the Stillen box with the Z-tube and it does indeed make a difference. I only dyno'd my car after the Stillen box, Plenum spacer and HFCs were installed so it would be difficult to ascertain what individual component is responsible for the gains. I can however vouge for the fact that it is a lot more responsive, it sounds a lot better (with the Z tube) and especially mid-range torque (between 3000-5500 rpm) seems to be up a notch. I'm quite happy to see it responsible for the most power gains on his thread...quite subjective but good to see

  2. checkout this write-up that Nate did (should really be a sticky by now..) It's quite helpful:

    http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/346667-servicing-your-v35-list-of-whats-needed/page__p__5580718__hl__servicing__fromsearch__1#entry5580718

On a side note I've tried a couple of brake fluid brands and found Motul Dot 5.1 to be the best (done occasional track work here n there) - AP Racing isn't bad either. For your AT fluid use Nissan Matic J ATF.

  3. Had a chance to see one today at Fabcar when I dropped off my V for a service. Looks quite decent. They're also getting in the Infiniti FX50 (obviously the Nissan version which I'm not sure what name it falls under exactly) - I got a chance to drive one which was owned by my brother's roommate in the US last year - they are bloody brilliant.

    The 5L V8's go like stink! 291kW/500Nm...*drool*

  4. Looking at buying a 35 from interstate (Melbourne). Can someone please recommend a workshop to get the vehicle inspected - compression / leak down test etc.

Anything else I should look out for when purchasing ?

    thanks

I bought my v35 from Sydney and trucked it to Perth. I looked up a few and State Roads offered the best price for what I was after. They do a leak down / compression etc and also provide a 1 month warranty (I know it's not much but least it's something). I paid circa $200-220 and they gave me 7 page report in addition to the inspector calling me straight after to give me a run-down of what he thinks of the car and if he came across any issues (always better when U hear from the inspector himself). Give them a go I reckon - http://www.stateroads.com.au/

  5. Hi everyone,

I just bought myself a gloss black roof vinyl overlay from a friend of mine (R3N) in WA. He ordered it from bluebatmobile from USA a few months back, and I bought it off him yesterday for AUD$70. He is a great guy to deal with too (Thanks again mate :) ).

Now, I have to find a person or place to do it for me. If anyone know a person or a place I can go to in WA, please let me know.

Call Kyle Williams on 0437 886 718. He does Vinyls.

  6. Ah ok fair enough.

FYI there are MANY dealers in Sydney that have sheds full of V35 interiors/TVs, Brembos and they make Premiums on demand .... basically if you want one of the cars on their lot they can 'make' you a premium or a 70th Anniversary edition (or vice-versa make a premium a base model by removing said bits and selling the car to you cheaper) - I had this offered on the V35 I nearly bought from a dealer in Sydney - they could put oem full leather seats, leather door inserts, pop up TV and Brembos on in 2 hours. Only thing they couldn't do were seat heaters. Hence why I asked.

Does it say on your VIN plate it is a 70th Anniversary Ed? Quite sure the R33 60th Anniversary had it on their VIN, as well as badging and other bits. Don't think I have seen a V35 with any stickers/badging though.

I searched the Jap auctions for AGES to find a black V35 with black leather interior, but never came across one. Found some with the gross tan/Willow interior, but couldn't stomach that, especially on a black car.

Totally agree on the Sydney dealerships. Have had similar experiences and nearly been coerced into putting a $500 deposit over the phone on a car I wasn't even keen on buying -_-

I bought mine privately through a guy in Sydney, it was his wife's car and she'd done only 5XXX kms in about 1.5yrs and when she got knocked up he had to sell it so they could buy a wagon :P

He too told me about dodgy Sydney dealerships so I stayed away. The other one I saw was in Perth but the price wasn't right for me. Both of them were private sellers who imported directly from Japan so if any 'aftermarket' black leather conversion took place, it would've been in Japan. Would have liked heated seats but on the other hand U could probably fry an egg on my seats come summer time (the downside of full black leather).

Will check the VIN tomorrow and let U know, would be interesting to see if any mention of the type of edition is made. I've seen a few 70th anniversary editions (all cream) without screens, without Bose and even some without dual-zone so I'm really not sure what the 70th anniversary actually comes with 'standard' besides the cream leather

  7. Has your car got any other indication it is a 70th anniversary? I have never seen one without seat heaters.

Don't think the 70th came with any badging so there's no real visual indication (unless I'm wrong). My main buying criteria was full black leather (picky, I know) - unfortunately I've only ever seen two (and I bought one of them  ) and neither had heated seats. Both were OEM Nissan leather (including black leather door inserts), not an aftermarket job. The reason I say it's a 70th anniversary is that both were advertised as that and the guy I bought it off (got the car trucked over from Sydney) had the import documentation which described the car as a '70th Anniversary Edition'.

  8. .. huge shame they only did them in the willow interior - if they had done the full leather in black I would have sourced one of those for sure. And yours has a double din kit already installed, so you can chuck whatever stereo in it you like.

:thanks: Mine's a full leather and black (no suede) and it's a 70th anniversary edition.

  9. Please feel free to give me your thoughts/opinions...I've valued them for many years now!

Car still rides beautifully, with not much change in comfort, nice change when cornering though!

I may have to get some sort of camber kit for the rears, they splay out a tad...(neg camber)

The car has taken on a whole new look, it's quite dramatic.....I like it very much....now over to you!

Also, selling the original 18" factory wheels.....noice condition, won't dissapoint....(no rubber included)

    I'm asking 600 (6 hunjy)....Hoping that's reasonable.

    Ebay ...Item number: 300499829569

I'll put pics of wheels being sold up here too.....

    Cheers guys.

Looking good. Might wanna get a 10-15mm spacer for the rears (just for the look :/ )

Just a bit curious, I've seen those rims in lighter shades of silver/grey, any reason U didn't go for them? IMO, I think black wheels suit dark cars better, but in saying that it still looks decent :(

  10. Hi Guys,

Not sure if anyone can assist in my query. 2 weeks ago I left my car outside a friends place because I had to catch a Taxi home due to my intoxicated state.

Anyway midday the next day I went and collected my car. it was a stinker of a day and the car was getting a beating from the sun all day.

I started the car, plugged in the iPhone and opened the factory screen, the sexy lass living in my dash politely told me something and the screen went black. I started again by closing the screen and opened it again, and she repeated her phrase and the screen remained off. I repeated this on my drive home and kept watching the outside temperature reading drop.

When the temp dropped to 36 degrees The Dash lady said something different and my screen came to life.

Does anyone know if theres some sort of temperature cut out or something that would have caused this.

Not a big deal but thought it was very strange! These cars are full of mystery arent they!

    cheers

    Lee

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but this happened to me today. It got up around 35 degrees, car was left outside work, no shade whatsoever. Couldn't really understand what the chick living in my screen was saying :action-smiley-069:

I started the car, windows down, aircon on full for around 5 mins then shut it off, turned it back on and voila! it works! Still curious as to what the issue is. Anyone know what she's saying?

  11. Hey Tarun, that's ok.

I also thought alot of people might go on holiday around Christmas. How long you be away?

We will see how many can come along. If not alot, we will move the date to January or February.

Thanks for letting us know, Tarun. Enjoy your stay in Singapore.

Will be in Sing for 5 days to visit my brother who lives there then off to India for 3 weeks - will be back 7 January. I've made a premature new years resolution (one of many) to spend a bit more on the V $$$ - so hopefully will look a bit different next year :P

    Thank you for your time.

Sorry broski - will be in Singapore!

  13. +1^^

    Good thread!

My doors feel like someone's pushing back on 'em everytime I open em (gotta hold it open in one for 1-2 seconds before getting out of the car otherwise the thing just slams closed). Didn't know this was an inherent problem, thought it was just my car. Would greasing the hinges work? Or is that black rubber thing an essential part of fixing it? Would be great if you could get the parts Chris.

    Cheers

  14. Looking to get either FK452's or KU31's for the rear as they have worn out completely.

Lowest quotes in Brisneyland i can get are $215 for both types of tyres (245/40/18)

So now it makes it more difficult to choose, FK452....or KU31. Also, is this a good price?

    Go with Ku19 over the Ku31s :P

I got 275/30/19 KU19s on the rear and they are brilliant. They grip like crazy around the corners (even in the wet) whilst at the same time are great at cruising, pretty quiet might I add. I was running Toyo T1-S' (great tyre!) before and thought the KU19s wouldn't come close (in terms of grip, braking, quieteness), but I was wrong. The Ku19s also have a better longevity than the T1-S and my only criticism of them would be the sidewalls being a tad softer compared to the Toyos - but barely noticeable on everyday driving.

Paid around $360 fitted and balanced, but bear in mind we boys in WA get charged a bit more than the East coast.

Don't know much about Falkens so can't help U there...

    Here's a whole thread on tyres: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ty...tml&hl=tyre

  15. Thanks for the replies..

dont get me wrong VDC definately does its job. I just wish it was a bit more refined. I heard the V36 VDC feels a lot smoother then the V35.. Actually it was a comparison between 350z and 370z but i assume its the same as v35 vs v36..

Ive been thinking.. I know why this car feels different to anything else ive driven in the wet. In the past, the only other 2 rear wheel drive cars ive had is an s14 and an s15.. But they didnt have the low end torque that you get from a V6 so they were much less of a hand full in the wet.. With those cars as long as the turbo doesnt kick in you generally still have traction.

I checked my tyres. They are Bridgestone Potenza's.. I dont think they're winter compound but i might check the pressures in them, could be too high.. Eventually i want to upgrade to wider wheels.. Hopefully that improves traction..

Alexander, I dont plan on doing any drifting on public roads but if something should go wrong it would be nice to have confidence in my ability to correct the problem (should VDC be off). I rarely floor my car in the dry let alone the wet...

Either way im still keen on going to one of these events..

heres a link to the RAC (used to be AHG) driving centre:

    http://www.dtec.com.au/mc-motorsport/performance-driving.htm

I havent had a chance to read up on it yet but ill check prices soon and post up. If theres enough interest ill do a separate thread.. Ive been there once years ago (civic days) and its pretty cool... Im hoping they have the ability to wet the skid pan for this particular excercise :)

In relation to the rear end kicking out in the wet, the car's chassis is setup such that it has a near 50/50 weight balance and such is a lot easier to kick out and control in any conditions, like a few people have said above though, just know the limits (and be mindful of the surroundings) when you're trying it out. I didn't find VDC too instrusive, however, I do see your point and can see where it can be intrusive.

The RAC course sounds great mate. I've had a lot of mates go on it and they say it's a good bit of fun. I'll be keen should you decide to pursue with it. Maybe start an EOI thread for the WA boys and see the response you get, accordingly you can decide whether to go through with it or not.

    GL with the drifts :)

  16. have you had it checekd by a mechanic for acident sighns?

i may have been in a minor crash and fixed up and sold, this would mean that the crash has made it unstable.

usualy a good mechanic or panel beater can tell if the car has been resprayed or had parts replaced.

Very true, my Uncle who worked in a dealership in Sydney saw a V35 at his mate's panel beating business which actually had part of the chassis welded together :P Was probably in an accident in Japan and well...that's the risk we run of owning imports :P
