Hey guys recently i have been looking at cars in Japan and i must say some of them look really nice. im not gonna be vague and say im gonna get a skyline or a silvia they are all pretty tempting as im unsure as to what i want for a next car, dont say buy local, ive bought enough local and im not keen, i want to import a car aswell cause then at least its another thing i have done and can vouch for others in the future etc. MY QUESTION IS: What in the most simplest form is the process in importing a car from Japan to Fremantle port, now dont go giving me links to sites explaining, i have read this 100 times and it still doesnt make sense so i wud prefer someone (from past experience in perth prefferably) to explain to me the relative total costs involved in importing I get it you pay the amount they require for the car and about 1-1500 in shipping costs, however prior to doing this do you have to fill out a form to let the government know theres a car coming or when it lands on the shore do you start the whole delegation process. I know you pay 5 and 10% gst but what else is required, like if the car came from jap with scissor doors would you need to get an engineers certificate from them or would you need to do that here.   3. so what i was asking was where i can get them from? Yeh i know im askin about v8's, i still got my skyline love em, but for a project car id rather put a v8 in change it up a bit, so importers would sell half cuts, and i can just take the motor out of these, would seem the most optimum way? where are some ideal places that would sell these half cuts?

Hi was just wondering i search the web and in classical cars and project cars ppl always says they have 253's and 285's, cleveland boxer, fireball etc all these v8's that seem to just 'bolt in' to engine bays and what not, i was wondering where you aquire these sorts of engines as im thinking of starting a restoration project, cheers
  5. haha awesome im a loooser, i just wanted to find out what your ops were and stuff ive never lowered or had a lowered car before but the way my car is at the moment i think personally it wud look better lowered, i havent got a body kit cause thats gay, stock look. Ill see what conclusion i come to, cheers guys
  6. oh well if its illegal then dont worry about it.. haha next question i want to lower my car, is the only way to drop it to buy 2k coilovers? cant i buy like a set of springs at a certain height (non adjustable) and just put them on and they cost me like $600? like how does it work.. explain haha

  8. hey guys a long time back i saw a guy with a honda crx or somethin like that and it was pretty nice, but he had like custom windscreen wipers like the top were a thick red and the bottom part was obviously black, but yeh they were cool, cant seem to find on ebay is there any store in w.a that sells things like these? maybe their at an auto store i just havent looked... cheers.
  9. i dont like bodykits and stuff for the fact that to me it seems impossible to find one i rekon the car looks alright as it is, probs cud just lower it a bit maybe, i have decided to go with the nsx green colour that HANK SCORPIO! ahaha has suggested, i will upload a photo in a few weeks to show the completed paint job, thanks for the suggestions guys was much appreciated.

  13. okay some nice inputs! =), to the guys that are saying spend the money elsewhere i have the biggest non industrial air compressor available, i am doing this paint job myself, so money is not an issue to me
  14. hey guys topic says it all im re-spraying my r33 totally cause its a bit dodged here and there so a fresh paint job is what i want to give it, its not rusty or anything. Anyway i have a few pics of the car but i was just wondering taking into account the mags and stuff what colour to re-spray it i was thinking either a sort of normal/light green or a purple sort of colour or if anyone knows some other good UNIQUE colours then thats cool, i dont want black or silver or white cause all skylines are like these colours i want it to be unique. you know what i mean... help me decide! its doing my head in here are some pics i took of it today its puuuurdy dirty nd stuff but yeh let me knowww thankssss
  15. i live north mate and i drive through and around the whole of joondalup nearly everyday for parts and errands etc, ill deffs keep a look out and if i spot him/her i will stop at nothing to make sure i track em down to where their staying
  16. thanks for the help guys took the cover off and looking at the coil packs one caught my eye i pulled on it and it came right off so it wasnt plugged in ahhhhh what a pain hey, thanks anyway guys cheers.
  17. hey guys in my r33 i was finally taking it for a drive tonight to go pump up the tyres get a full thing of petrol etc after getting it to drive. when i noticed the muffler was really rough sounded like a rex... and call me stupid but you can usually tell a difference.. well i can, theres no shit coming out of the exhaust it runs fine hey no black/white or any smoke comin out nice and smooth anywayyyyy first of all there is no bloody power when i put my foot down its still using the turbo and stuff cause the bov lets go when i let go etc, but it really is going no where and is shakey, i realise the most problems come when im in second going for hard acceleration from first gear like 3/4 rev then shift to second to continue with foot down but what happens when i have my foot down is there is a huge RUSH of air that lets out then the accelerator/throttle stops working, like there is no pressure when i put my foot down, so then i let go come to a stop put it back in gear and it drives still but it has no balls! if i drive it accelerating slowly its fine... I replaced the timing belt, spark plugs, radiator hoses, radiator fluid, fuel lines, fuel filter, oil filter, oil, got fuel injector cleaner, new pod. Figured id let you know what i replaced so you can possibly give me a diagnosis as to whats happening. If they inter-relate or not Help asap would be appreciated cause ive spent months trying to get the car back on the road so the sooner the better cheers. Maybe the timing is out? just want to check with others to be sure cause i dont want to rip everything off the car again cause we all know thats not fun... cheers.
  18. yeh thats tru man but its good cause then you look at all possible aspects so like i said, i say cheers =), yeh i knowww hey i duno why the fuel was bad does 98 octance being so pure go shit quicker? ehhh it was hell nice pooring like $80 on the sand =( haha
  19. second update: i guess it dosent matter but just figured for your own interest none of you were on the money, it really was simply just shit fuel, changed it out put a new filter plus hoses and the car works perfectly. but thanks for your inputs
  20. yeh sorry i just realised how bad it was after i posted it haha, alright guys cheers ill have a look maybe today but im a bit busy if not ill have a look tommorow deffs and see how i go, cheers.
  21. hi guys i have a 1993 r33 manual turbo blabla, it had been sitting in my garage for about 6-7 months i recently got rid of my other car so i decided i wud fire this baby back up, i re-charged the battery, put new rims/wheels on it, put the intercooler piping back on, cleaned it up and then started her up you beauty!!! was all doin fine rev'd nicely and all that stuff, then one day i decided id take it to pump up the tyres i take it for a drive. Straight away i realise the car is going incredibly slow but was driving fine, pretty much my v4 pulsar could have beaten it which is rather embarrasing... my mate was like maybe your not giving it enough revs i turned a corner and took it to past 6 then shifted and the car just locked up and stalled, i re-start the engine and kept rolling 30 metres where the car died again i go to start the car and it has mass revving problems going from about 200-1400, the lights dim as if the cars gonna stall each time i try to accelerate but it just gets all these weird adjustments in revs, i could not move the car, i got it towed back to my house by my mate where there i had a closer look it was shooting that much black smoke out of the exhaust i swear you would be dead covered in it in about 3 seconds. ALSO on closer inspection i looked at the engine bay there seems to be no leaks or funny sounds or anything except the whole f*kin engine in the bay was bloody shaking more violently than my mums old washing machine!! i immediately turned the car off not wanting to turn it back on.... i looked at similar posts but my only querys would be that its the AFM, or could it be the fact that since the car was sitting for ages the 98 octance fuel i put in it went bad and has clogged the fuel injectors+ throttle body? also my biggest question... why the hell is my engine shaking? IMMEDIATE HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. thanks.
  22. heyyyy i just got a question im gonna re-vamp one of my skylines and i was just wondering wheres a good place that sells bodykits in WA? if there isnt one can someone suggest something else like a good online one? also i wasnt really interested in a whole body kit more just a new rear bumper and side skirts... anyway... cheers.
  23. just wanna say thanks to the blokes that inputted, it really was the immobiliser me and my mate yesterday ripped it out and re-wired the whole thing took 7 hours but the car works and starts perfectly now =) can close thread now.
  24. yeh mate ure on the money i um bought an updated version of the immboliser like when i got there i was like listen this is it can u make me a remote he go's itll take a few days to make a remote for it plus itll cost u like the same amount just to buy the newer version which plugs straight into the ports u got in the car at the moment, i said listen ive travelled far as long as you can give me something and itll work and i dont have to come back then ill grab that so i went home got the newer one it plugged straight it i thought sweet it beeped everything so i through the old one out after having trouble with it for weeks now ive come to realise in small print on the manual it says when u change just the box to the premium one u will have to re-wire it cause all the ports will have changed i was like OMG WHY COULDNT HE HAVE JUST SAID THAT LIKE WHEN I WAS THERE here i thought it was other problems.. so me and a mate and a soldering iron are gonna go to town on this thing when i get the time, thanks heaps for your help boys! wait a minute... bypass? can u say how to do that in better language, sorry electrics isnt a strong point of mine what do i have to do? thanks.
  25. yeh tru guess i will get round to doing that, replaced all the hoses and stuff they were like so very very tight i think the petrol acted like glue in the long run to it, they were just absolutely stuck i nearly tipped the car trying to pull em off hahaha, yeh i think ive found the main problem the immobiliser wont let the power go to the dash so the power cant come on to allow the fuel pump to start up to let it pump fuel to the engine, im so ringing up that immobiliser company and havin a go at em, when u get a new one dont u have to like get it re-programmed to like the main computer or? i duno how they work..
