green P's bud, and 1 year to go. i dont want to wait it out
HAI COMPRESSHHHSSHHH pewwwMay i ask if you are on your red p's or green's and roughly how long you have to go?
-
i would have thought that i can register it as a non turbo, seing as thats what it will become..
do a search . it gets covered weeklyoh heres and heres a clue
http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Pu...a+turbo+back+in
its also still illegal as the car is registered as a turbo

no, i dont wanna sell the car later down and get a turbo one, i want to know if its cheaper to buy a N/A one and put a turbo in it, or buy a turbo version and take it out for a year then put it back in. i dont mind if the turbo version has work done on it, just taking the turbo out for a year. but i thought you had to do something to the motor when you do take it out, which is why im asking the above question. thanks.
Before you get shot down in flames for asking a question asked many times before... get a non turbo on your P's, then when you get your full license sell it and buy a Turbo - the only way to go. -
Yes, but i dont mind if i buy something that has work done on it, i just want to know if its expensive to take the turbo out and put it back in a year later or whether i should get a N/A model and put a tubo in later.
Its only a year, buy somethig like an r31 for under a grand or something. then get something that already has work done to it -
What would be more expensive...Taking the turbo out of a skyline, or putting one in?
P plater here, and i want to purchase a skyline, either r33 or r34, but my question is simple. I either get a non turbo version and whack a turbo in once i get my blacks (1 year down the track) or i get a turbo version and take the turbo out until i get my blacks then put it back in. Its a year till my full licence but i cant wait I read somewhere that when you take the turbo out, you need to re-compress the motor or something and do other things to it, thats why i ask if its expensive.
cheers

its really up to u tho and what u wanna do with the car... like depends if ur gunna keep this car n make it a beast by pouring money into it or sell it a year down the track n upgrade
that is my intention, yes. I wanna keep the car and put money into it. I'll be having it for a long time, so I'll try make it last

how long until you get off your p's? the reason i ask is that if it isn't that long (like a year or so), i wouldn't bother doing extractors. just get the catback. save the money for the turbo upgrade as you will only have to ditch the extractors when you put the turbo manifold on
I have a year to go then I'm off my p's. I will be putting a turbo in when the time comes, I just want to be ready for it. So you don't have extractors when you have a turbo? Wow thanks you saved me a heap
-
Thanks man I'll look into it. Also, if I'm planning to upgrade to turbo when I get off my p's will a 2.5" system with a 4" cannon be sufficient? Or will I have to upgrade?
What's CPI mean? The exhaust system is 100cpi is that good?
-
Well what would give me a nice sound without being so loud that cops hound me? I always see skylines with cannons and they aren't always deafening...
-
thats how much mine cost, it all depends on the muffler you put on coz that can be the most expensive part.
Was going to get a 5" cannon. They are like 100 bucks from supercheap

Hey ive recently been quoted a price for a 2000 skyline r34 GT non turbo, for an exhaust system. I was wondering if its worth the price, and if the components are any good? The quote is below.
You will be looking at $1150.00 complete for extractors, stainless 100cpi hi flow cat and 2.5" system.

wow man im having the EXACT same problem. Im thinking of buying a skyline that i can always upgrade to a turbo when im off my p's, and im gettng a 4 door to make insurance cheaper too I just want to know if the non-turbo's have ANY sort of power behind them (not compared to a turbo, just generalised) to see if its worth even bothering till im off my P's.
-
awesome, thanks, and is it different again for a non turbo version?
-
Hey i was wondering whether a 1998 r34 skyline will take the new e10 petrol or will it destroy the motor?
What Would Be More Expensive?
in RB Series - R31, R32, R33, R34 (1986-2002)

Ok. I have read links and searched threads, and i think i will have to wait it out. If cops still will pull you over for being a 'turbo' car, and it has no power, whats the point? guess i have to keep my 94 VR commodore a bit longer thanks guys.
