  1. You can just user better clamps, that said I was using stock clamps for 20,000kms over 2 cars, and they were fine.

They were recently swapped however as it was suspected there might have been a minor boost leak.

Are you sure your engine mounts are in good order? Sounds like there is perhaps some more movement than normal going on?

Tried changing types of clamps, and even switched to the clamps I use at work (diesel fitter) which work on engines with 38psi running through them.

The engines mounts is actually something I completely overlooked. I'll have to have a bit of a look and see whats going on in that department.

Thanks for the imput Nismoid :)

  2. There a few things that the v spec gtr has over the standard gtr. These include 4 pot brembos up front with 300mm rotors and 298mm rotors with 2 pot brembos on the rear. Also it has brake duct cooling. The v spec has bigger wheels at 17" as standard and the v spec 2 released with wider wheels again. It also has a retuned attesa system. Only 1453 units were made of the v spec and only 1303 of the vspec 2. Hope that helps :)

  3. Stones throw away at eastern heights mate. we should hook up some time.

Ah yeah, wouldn't be suprised if I've seen you around. I seem to see a fair few driving around but never see any parked anywhere. :glare: Its like they go into hiding...

Is that jealousy Dan? You know you want to live in the switch.... So close to QR you can hear the top fuelers and all. And only drive 15mins to get to the track.

Just no meet spots like harry's or bnr :(

  4. Hows he shooting it? Is it going to be full colour or black and white in parts? Car driving but slowed down, stationary or just normal driving?

Is there going to be comentary, such as information on the car, or just the car and using the music to put the feeling of what its like to drive something your passionate about?

Maybe post a couple of still shots or even a few little clips up to help people see what sort of things your shooting for and the style.

I like what he's done with the light in the previous film with the camera in the car while the driver opens the garage door too. And the slow motion scroll across the front of the car looks sweet as well.

Have you thought about when your driving the car and a song comes on and you just are in the moment. Just cruising and enjoying the feeling of the car and what its like to drive something that your so passionate about?

If you haven't done the filming yet some things I can think of off the top of my head that would be alright are:

Moby - "Flower" or "Flying Foxes

Or for something up beat and a happy tune, iIly - "It can wait"

Stafford Brothers Vs. Hoxton Whores - "Wherever"

or maybe, Drapht - "Jimmy Recard"

Anyway theres some ideas. Just a bit hard without seeing the clip lol, Anyway good luck guys hope that can help you out. :)

    Matt

  5. as above I don't think it's normal for the car to die I thought the revs would just become unstable and go up and sown not just die ???

    Any body know?

hey mate, I had an issue with my air flow meters not too long ago. The car would idle rough and sometimes stall but when you accelerate it would simply just die. (leaning out, not a good thing).

The best way is to just flash the codes if it has a standard ecu and it should tell you.

    What cars it for?

  6. Evening chaps

Anyone know much about hubs? Specifically I have to replace some wheel studs on my rear left wheel (33 GTST), the sucker won't move (much like when Dan came and helped with the Laser :) ) and I've thrown everything I can at it...breaker bars, impact wrench, air ratchet... nothing.

Which way should it be turned? Clockwise or anticlockwise? I've been trying both in spurts but I'd like to be sure of one direction and just smash all my weight into it

    Hey guys, whats been happening?

Mate the wheel studs are a press fit so you need to push them out not twist them. Have seen it done with a hammer but this isn't the best way because the hits also smash the axle bearing and can cause it to get flat spots on the rollers leading to failure. If your going to do it this way then you should put a nut just on the stud to stop it from mushrooming. The other way you can do it is to use a ball joint remover although have never used one for this. Acording to the manual you can't remove the hub. Unsure as to why but. To reinstall space it out with washers and tighten with a nut to pull it back in. You'll have to remove the disk and pads to do this as well.

    Hope this helps mate

By the way has anyone seen a 32 gtr box forsale around in brissy? Mine split a seal and dumped all the oil and now i've lost 4th syncro and probably cooked it :( Just after a secondhand one at the moment. Pm if you know where one is thanks :)

    Cheers Matt

  7. You will need:

New clutch- and or push pull converter. 33 and 34 GTR clutches are pull, 32 is push.

Box- expensive for it's strenght. A 34 6 speed is debatable after 550 odd hp for racing.

    Modified drive shaft/s

    Modified g-box mounts

    34 diffs or similar ratios

Adapt the 32 ATESSA actuator, to the 34 transfer case.

    Adapt the speedo drive

    OR

Get your old box built to new, with a nice OS gear set and twin syncro's.

    Hope that helps

    J.

Sorry to revive an old thread but me and another mate were thinking about this the other day.

Why would you have to change the diff ratios?

I mean leaving the 4.1s in the 32 would mean that you would have the top end of the standard 32 gtr with the close gear set down low

allowing you to keep the engine/turbos better within there range.

I would have thought that this would have been better than just having a close gearset 5 speed. Especially if its still going to be a daily driver.

Sorry if this is a dumb question and i've missed something lol

    Cheers Matt

  8. Hey mate I was looking at doing this with my gtr as well. Have you found much info on this?

As I have been looking around for a fair while for infomation on this and as what would be the best option for choice of box. I was going to install a PPG gearset into mine with the billet sandwich plate and uprated input shaft so was wondering if it may also be better to convert to a hollinger or similiar box.

Are you going to be changing diff ratios as well or leaving them as standard? I know the diff ratios in the 32 are 4.1s and I think the 34's are 3.7? if I remember correctly.

Also depending on the clutch installed in your gtr you may have to change it from a push to a pull type setup. But yours is already a pull type so shouldn't have any issues

Let us know how it goes mate. Would be really interested to find out.

    Good luck

    Matt
