  1. So im moving to Dubai in about 4 weeks to take up a management role with a super yacht company. Without going into it too much, im going to have to sell my R32 because its too much of a hassle shipping something over from here to there.

I have heard cars are pretty cheap and so is fuel over there, which got me thinking, does anyone know if it is possible to import a car directly from japan to dubai, what are the rules and regulations... is there compliance, year cut off etc like here, or is it just open trade... anything, any information you could possibly have would be greatly appreciated, as I dread the thought of stepping out of a 500hp 32 into some camry rental car :(

    Cheers,

    James.

  2. thanks for the helps boys. Yeh hopefully i can catch them before anyone elses car gets done. Its suprising for an area like Varsity too.

I work in Varsity down on Vasity Pde and Admiral Drv, we get at least 5 cars broken into and vandalised every 4 - 6 months. Its generally during school holidays. A lot of the time you will see 15 - 17 year olds skulking around the car park and streets after a Thursday Night out at Robina Town Center, and on weekends drinking and running a muck. I'd definitely keep your car garaged at all times, ive resorted to bringing the fourbie to work, because I just dont wanna take the chance with my line even though our carpark is well lit with security patrols.

I'll ask the secca's that come through if they know anything, they are pretty cool guys

  3. Leave the hicas in man, leave it 100% original, just restore it to its original beauty and leave it, and I guarantee you in 20 years time that car will net you a pretty sum man. I know your attention to detail having been to your house and purchased parts from you and following this cars build, not too often do you see someone go to the efforts you have  massive props, you know I love your car.

  4. not to stray off topic but is that josh's (NismoBoy) old r32 he had?

About the gearboxs lasting. I would be more inclined to think that circuit racing would put more stress, and temperature through a box then drag racing would, as its over an exteneded time. In a 20min race you do more high rpm gearchanges, more throttle application(on/off) and temps skyrocket cause your doing that for so long. Only thing you dont get is the initial force on everything from the launch as there isnt as much rubber layed down on the start/finish line like found at a dragstrip. 370rwkws killed our rb25gbox at the track after a 1.5 years of racing, 4th gear. Application will determine most things. I would stick to a conserative power if your keeping the rb20box.

Yes it is its had quite a lot changed on it since purchasing it over a year ago haha, soon as it gets out of the shop and painted ill get some update pics up :)

But yeah to keep on topic I have only had 1 issue with the gearbox which was a selector for 5th and reverse shitting itself which was an easy and cheap fix ($350 from memory) and it gets a frigging beating, tuned for 380kw roughly at the rears.

  5. yeah i learnt that with my FD rx7.... did a crazy build up 350-odd kw then realised i liked the 300 far better.

for me the ultimate setup on a rb25 is evrything you already got plus one thing.... a TD06SH-25g kit. This kit has proved on std internals to run mid 10's on slicks (CREATD MSA manual r33) and mid 11's on street radials (andrew manual r33 from autobarn frankston... now wearing a T88 and transbrake tho :) ).

    Something a little like this???

    R32 Gtst:

Engine: Rb25det conversion The internals are far from stock and top secret, Flowed head/port polish, HKS 275 camshafts, HKS head gasket, Trust Stainless top mount manifold, Trust 50mm waste-gate, Trust front mount intercooler, Trust Oil cooler and relocation filter kit, GReddy Type-R BOV plumbed backed, Nismo 820cc injectors, HKS F-con Pro V.... im sure ive missed a few bits n pieces

Suspension And Running Gear: Rebuilt Rb25det gearbox, brand new twin plate OS clutch, Nismo 2way mechanical diff, Tein adjustable coilovers, Tein Adjustable Castor Rods, Tein Tie Rod Ends, 17inch Genuine 3 piece Nismo rims.

    R32015.jpg

Pictures from a year ago, its now got a full gtr intake setup including ITB's, 490rwhp @ 1.2bar, we actually dont know what the turbo is, its one of three items, Trust Td06-25g, old school trust td07s or a t67-25g, whatever it is, it does the job :(

Due for a retune in about 3 - 4 months time, its in at the shop atm having engine and box pulled for more work and full paintjob. Ohhh and 11.4 on crappy streets and 10.8 on crappy slicks, also my first time driving a car with some decent power at the drags, im more into drift... so you hit the nail on the head with your proported claims in the previous post imo.

  6. Thats acctually somewhat wrong... Alonso's driving style at Renault seemed to have been a byproduct of the R26/27 chassis set up and rear biased balance. Also the way that Renault had set up their traction control system allowed Alonso to throw the car into corners with horrible understeer and get away with it. He adapted his driving style that best suited the car and reaped the rewards.

Now that he's at Mclaren he seems to have adopted a more traditional driving style, with more oversteer than anything now, which is quite an achievement since its such a dastic change from his previous (and successful) style. The guy really is mega by todays standards, he's smart, uncluttered and beaten the best. Like it or not he will be one of the greats

Whether it was a bi-product of the way his car was designed and setup there is no disputing his style was unorthodox yet effective. I agree the guy is one of the most exciting people to watch in modern motorsport and will undoubtedly be ranked along side the greats by the end of his career. No other driver is as exciting to watch in my opinion, the only other person in motorsport that can put me on the edge of my seat like Alonso is Valentino Rossi when he is backing it in to fast corners in the wet during passing manouvres *drool* but im biased being italian ahahha :P and prior to that it was Senna. Im sticking with the list posted above, but I know what you're saying.

  7. In terms of greatest ever professional drivers, Schumacher I believe is the greatest of all time. His work ethic and ability to bond his team to bring out the best in themselves is phenomenal.

However I prefer to rank on pure driving ability, Note this list is only from what I personally I have seen and stories/articles I have read, hence not much on Fangio/Clark/Moss etc. So here are my top drivers:

    1. Senna, simply put the fastest driver ever. You say Schumi was good in the rain....I say one race Donington 1993. In one lap Senna proved his driving mastery may never be matched. Need further proof?? Monaco 1988, Out-qualfied PROST of all people by 1.5 seconds!!!

    2. Gilles Villeneuve Perhaps the greatest car control of all time, one of the sport's greatest losses.

    3. Alain Prost The Professor, simply stunning example of "Smooth is fast"

    4. Niki Lauda One of my heroes and an amazing thinking driver

    5. Jackie Stewart debated whether to swap him and Lauda....very similar approaches. Thinking drivers, yet both could display stunning speed when required

    6. Michael Schumacher Despite what the records say, he is at number 6 because I believe all the drivers above would have out-driven Schumi in their respective primes. Some simply amazing driving from the german though

    7. Nigel Mansell the overtaking master, search for him on YouTube and you will see why.

    8. Mika Hakkinen the fact the Schumacher is here means Hakkinen has to be here, the only driver Schumi feared. Spa 2000 proved why

    9. Kimi Raikkonen Fastest man in current F1 the current "Flying Finn"

    10. Fernando Alonso unorthodox driving style shouldn't work.....but thanks to it he could maximise an F1 car. See Opening lap Hungary 2006 and his pass on Schumi at Suzuka 2005 has adapted his style to the current cars, the sign of a great driver. Could fall off this list if he doesn't deal with Hamilton

There are several others that should probably be on this list such as Jochen Rindt, Ronnie Petersen and of course Juan Manuel Fangio but I haven't seen enough footage of them drive to make an objective decision so there is my list!!

100% agree with this, well summed up :P

  8. I used an 80mm throttle off a q45 v8, it bolted on and was half the price of a shiny billet one
    i cant seem to find a q45

I've got one for sale on the Gold Coast in QLD, happy to post if you are interested shoot me off a PM.

Do not use the q45 90mm throttle body. It's not made for supercharged applications and the seals around the throttly axle will leak boost pressure. I've bought 3 tb's and tried before I gave up. They all leak after 0.6bars og pressure :)
That seems strange, as even the genuine greddy manifolds are drilled to suit them, there are 80, 90 and 100 mm anodised throttle bodies on ebay for under $300 new

I agree that does seem strange, ive used one on my car for over a year (490hp @ 1.2bar) with no issues or leak what so ever.

  9. hi guys

    thanks for the reply

that garret site has heaps of great info.

I am a bit of a handy man when it comes to my car and like to pull things apart to get a good understanding of how they work and how hard things are to rebuild etc.

    Ashley

Hehehe sounds like me, just like ripping shit apart to see whats inside for yourself :D Sometimes I can read something a million times and it still wont stick or make sense til I just bust one open and take a looksie.

I did the same thing about a year ago, bought a shitty rb20 turbo with blown seals, got seal kit from nissan for Im pretty sure it was 170 bucks, and put a seal kit through it. Had a look at how everything worked on the inside. Was really good, I knew how they worked prior and understood the theory but nothin like gettin your hands dirty n rippin stuff apart to really get a good grasp of how everything is put together :)

  10. Everytime i hear or read about the greddy plenum and people saying that its useless above 300rwkw i have to think to myself has anyone tried or has that person tried or are they just reading something that someone else has written and that person has no idea......

now i have tried on my r34 and ill tell u the difference's...

anyone who know's me should know that i dont write up here for fun and i actually go to the effort of finding out...as a lot of r & d has been done on the car at bel performance in syd.

i can only tell you for the r34 so dont ask about the r33 this being the neo engine is different than the r33 engine..and im also not here to tell you the differences so dont ask do a search....

    things that were noticed..

ok i went with a hypetune throttle body and greddy plenum also the tubo in question is a hks 2835 pro s

    1. more responsive -

    2. holds boost to redline does not drop off or drop down at all ,before it would drop off on top end as i was pushing the turbo to its limit .

    3. made much more midrange and top end without much boost so therefor before i had a plenum i was pushing more boost and putting more strain on the turbo it was struggling.

so in conclusion i made more power in midrange to top end but i wasnt pushing the turbo to its limit also the boost held better and didnt drop off..

so there's my 2cents of info i hope this helps and people put forward there ideas or questions instead of saying stupid shit to me... but hey this is a forum so i expected it i suppose..

    cheers

also the car made 300rwkw at 1.2bar and it was responsive as flys attracted to shit...hahahaha j/k

Who said anything about the greddy plenum being useless above 300rwkw, I can only assume you were speaking with reference to my comment where I said the stock one should hold til around then. Im currently using a Greddy plenum it shaved 4feet of piping off my setup and im pushing 380rwkw on 1.2bar on a series1 RB25 using an ITB setup with a custom adaptor plate. Still to be tuned for higher, and its running rich as a mofo. Soon as its painted its off to sydney to have the fcon tuned and ill get back to you on how much of a difference it makes. I totally agree with your comments above so sorry if I wasnt clear in my first post, just tried to sum it up real quick for him before the usual "USE THE SEARCH BUTTON" nazi's jumped in :)

  11. /sniff WoW ruined my forum enjoyment on here, as i post once and dont show myself for another few months.

I didnt preorder yet i got the first midnight copy (legally) in Victoria, my buddies werent to happy about that seeing as they preordered.

I dinged 70 4 days after official release, which is sad in some case.

For the first time since January 17th 2005, i quit WoW. I've never really said im quitting or barely taken breaks but yeah, Monday i quit.

So if anyone wants to buy a level 70 UD rogue let me know =p

To those who are MMO fans, i am looking into a new era of gaming and if you guys plan on quitting WoW by the end of the year, then let me know. Blizzard only have to implement Arthas in the next expansion, then they are out of story, unless they make some up.

Warhammer Online is going to kill WoW anyway man :ninja: Realm Vs Realm Battles.

  12. Why does everyone always think about power mods?

You can get just about ANY suspension component (within reason) for around the $200 mark.

Tie Rods, Rack Ends, Caster Arms, Camber Arms, Hicas Lock Bar etc.

Someone mentioned tyres, thats also not a bad option... for $200 your pretty limited, id be looking at something for your suspension. Grab them for your bday, set them aside, accumulate a few more parts, throw it all in one weekend and get yourself a wheel alignment.

    EDIT:

Add some nice brake pads or a service to that list as other options also.
