  1. i usually finish work at 4:30, noticed the problem only occurs when the car is running hot, still investigating
  2. couldn't get the unit case apart or off so i disconnected all cables and leads and blew them out with an air compressor then reconnected them, worked fine this morning but i'll bet money the problem resurfaces , the gauge is more prone to well..being a shithead at warmer temperatures. very annoying but i can't be bothered doing anymore than what i can at home.
  3. managed to get a hold of a soldering iron but i can't seem to get the boost unit case open, i don't want to crack or break it but can't seem to find a way of getting it off edit: i mean the larger case just above the right wheel, not the part sitting above the engine
  4. to update, i've checked all the cables and the vaccum line as best i can, all in good working order by the look of things gonna try and pry open the boost control chip case and go from there.
  5. no doubt, i've never soldered in my life however ahah.
  6. i'm in croydon, i found a tutorial about resoldering the three joins on the chip above the front right tire, scared about messing with it, it's under a three month warranty, doubtful but would that cover this?

  8. thats what i thought, is there anyway i can fix this myself? i think supercheap has 60mm gauges i could grab but installing it would no doubt be a nightmare >__< gauges are half the fun of owning a turbo imo
  9. i've never owned a turbo before so i was hoping someone could help me out a little.. im running a completely stock 34 gt-t and sometimes on ignition the boost gauge won't move, not even a slight fluctuation, today i was driving and the gauge had been sitting on nothing, then doing 60 it suddenly jumped to about midway up the gauge, stayed at that pressure for 10 seconds, then dropped disturbingly quickly back to 0, im not sure whether it's because i've only started looking at the boost gauge while driving that i've noticed it goes for ages without moving from 0, i can hear the whirring/spooling? sound but without gunning it, cant tell wether it's active. i had a major service (smooth garage) and immbolizer installed friday if thats relevant at all.. basically i'm dumb, is there something wrong? or is that normal behaviour? only just bought it, i'll be pissed if it's already playing up. is my best bet getting a compression test? cheers guys

  11. well..i went into villis tonight and it was uncomfortable to say the least.. i had no idea who i was looking for and the fact there were 30 pensioners behind me with an acoustic guitar frightened me. it was you guys wasn't it? thats why you drive wagons, to keep your guitars and walking frames handy.. but yeah, dissapointing i guess it was my own fault, it's disarming having a room full of peoples eyes glued to you and i was too afraid to ask someone, on the plus side i think i disturbed a few children. anyway if it's a regular thing i'll come down next friday? i'm pretty easy to spot, a bandy legged kid with a funny hair cut and unsightly tats. so please say hi or at least tell me who to look for. thanks guys
  12. well i went down to two different supercheap autos last night and couldn't for the life of me find high flow square panels to suit the car, they had K&N pods in a set of three? the staff there (no offence to anyone that may work there) were about as useful as a nun's box, in retrospect i should have taken the measurements of my current panel, could have helped. anyway, who's actually turning up tonight at villis? i'm going to try and get my memebership fee sorted and need to know who to pay. in before :"give the money to the bloke in the skyline" also please take pity on me if you do see me out, my ride is stock, giggling hurts my feelings all that being said, it'll be a pleasure to meet you guys

  14. oil leaks would be the least of my concern, knowing me, fires, explosions/implosions and several fatalities would somehow occur from my handywork
  15. thanks for the offer buddy, i'm in croydon, considering it but i'd feel bad for dragging you out for such a seemingly insignifigant thing plus i should really learn to handle this business myself if i have any hopes of getting the car to an impressive standard, much appreciated though

  17. thanks heaps guys, i reckon i'll pop into supercheap after work tonight and pick up an adapter + pod(s), i've never actually done anything underneath the hood myself before so i'm a little apprehensive, it's not possible for me to go too far wrong is it? i'm a teenager so in my mind everything works like gran turismo, take car into shop, pay money, man makes car go faster...

  19. what's everyones take on this? i did my best to look for an existing thread on this so apologies if its already a topic. my first port of call so to speak is replacing my current stock unit and i was just wanting opinions/personal experience i've heard dry pods make a nice induction noise which definately appeals, but require a heat shield to stop them inhaling hot engine bay air, got quoted $300+ for custom fabricated alloy heatshield and K&n pod, or would i be better replacing the square panel filter and fitting a cai? or a combination of pod and cai? i heard anything that doesn't look stock might call for a regency inspection so i guess it's risk verse benefits.. cheers guys!

  21. thankyou all very much, couple of final questions, i saw a member with a white 33 sporting the skylines australia logo sticker, is there a way i can get my hands on one? do i have to make a donation or? i could make my own being a signwriter and all but theres no fun in that plus i don't want to piss people off by circumnavigating possible "sticker requirments" aha thanks everyone. and finally are there any open entry level meetings or whatnot coming up? i'd be keen to meet some other enthusiasts. cheers!

  23. this is probably irrelevant now but the car as it is remains completely stock, right down to the rather unsightly 17 inch alloys where's the best place to get it serviced? i was considering the obvious like ultra tune but i'd much prefer a place that deals specifically with imports. again any info is great! thanks guys
  24. thankyou for what i think will prove to be vital information, i understood to a certain extent that mods attract police attention but not the the extent you mentioned, also being on my provisional license and having plates up doesn't help my cause! thankyou very much for your help, for the moment i'll look at getting an exhaust sytem custom fabricated i reckon, then go from there. is it true some aftermarket ecu's negate the 180 limiter? not that im considering it solely for that reaon.
