  1. Hey guys, I did a bit of searching around but couldn't find specific answers for this;

What would be a more suitable oil in a stockish R34 GTT - Royal Purple HPS or their new XPR oil?

It seems the XPR is a on up from the HPS, specifically for performance racing, does that mean it would not be suitable for a daily jap turbo?

This is what their website has to say; (useless)

    Thanks :)

  2. The squeeling problem is most likely a loose or off center belt. You could turn it on and look at the engine bay and try and follow the sound to see which belt the sound is coming from, replacing/tightening the belt's price will depend on which belt it is really.

I'm sure someone else would be better suited to explain the lights on the dashboard problem, I would be leaning towards a fuse/short somewhere though.

  3. Yeah, the defect is bound to happen I guess.

my question again though, the possibility of the infamous "$10,000" fine for running a decat car can only technically be had if they can prove it is decat. the only way for this is if they nab you there and then on the road by suprise, and try and test the emissions in a carpark (as they do sometimes) this car park has random RTA n EPA officers sitting around n they pretty much test it there n then.

So in considering that, would a kill switch be a viable option to not have that happen? or will they seize the car or something i dunno lol

  4. So not that any of this applies to me; but to avoid these two problems:

    - Cop defect for exhaust too loud

    - EPA road side defect/cop defect for de-cat exhaust system

Could one not instal a hidden kill switch in their car, and hit the switch, pretending the car doesn't turn on for whatever reason, therefore not allowing the EPA/Cop to check the loudness or more importantly, if it is venting toxic fumes due to decat. At least temporarily, and then tow the car home n change it back to stock?

This example referrs to if you're driving and pulled over "randomly" and then directed to an EPA station from there directly. Or more likely, the cop with a decible meter.

I wouldn't recomend this idea, just wondering if this is a possibility.

  5. With the recent japanese free trade agreement going through, I can't seem to wrap my head around the concept still so I was looking for a bit of clarification.

With this free trade, will the prices of use jap imports drop, e.g R33s, R34s, etc. Along with this, I don't understand how in New Zealand, the prices for these cars is almost half as much as it is here. I always assumed it was due to the agreements and that this new free trade agreement would balance out the prices eventually evening them out with New Zealand.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks in advance :)

  6. hey guys, i've got a r34-gtt and have had it for quite a while, i bought it fairly cheap and now im a bit paranoid beacuse i looked at the PPSR check and the free rego check of my car, and while the number plate and all is correct, it says

    body type = SEDAN

when infact, my car is a 2 door coupe?

Can anyone provide some insight or thought into this? Is this hard to fix? What could the reasons for this be? or how will this effect me?

    Thanks heaps guys.

  7. Hey guys, so i've got a R34 GTT 2 door. and just recently the passanger side window stopped going verically up, instead it goes up a bit and then starts to get wonky. I looked into it and turns out one of the lower guides that move horizontally while the window goes up and down has come out of its guide and is basically doing nothing.

It keeps coming out because this small white plastic thing it goes into has somehow broken, it used to be a full circle to hold the end of the mechanism into.

Really confusing to explain, so i took a few photos. The first photo shows how its sitting now (outside of the guide).

Second photo shows how its meant to be, but its meant to also be within that white thing, or it'll keep coming out of the guide.

Anyone know where i can possibly get that small white thing? or its name? or possibly a way to get around this problems?

    Thanks heaps guys.

  8. everyone here seems pretty sure so im a bit unsure now.

but as far as i know, im almost certain that p-platers in the ACT can drive turbo. however, once they enter into NSW they have to abide by NSW laws due to the jurisdiction. Similar to the fact that gay marriage may be accepted in a certain country but wont be recognised in a country that doesn't have the law.

So im gonna have to disagree with what is being said here, if the cop really wants to im pretty sure that they can fine you in NSW for not abiding by their P plater rules.

someone correct me if im wrong though.

  9. well thanks for allll the help guys, it was really heplful and wouldn't have gotten it done otherwise.

pretty much re did it all, except this time i put in bosch iridium 1.1mm gap plugs, cleaned out the area very nicely and yeah.

luckily this solved the miss fire problem, and even more so, the missfire under boost problem, i tried putting my foot down at high speeds and low speeds, where before there would be pops now there was no sound like that. so everythings working fine :)

    thanks again everyone
