  1. Hi that does help, the garage did the belt back in 2017 but it went off the road in 2019 and hasn’t yet really come back out so it’s 7 years old now so probably worth just changing and being done with it
  2. The only thing I did notice was that my Hicas light on the dadhboard is on all the time now since swapping to LED warning lights as well probably not connected and need to get the hicas serviced or locked out
  3. No other noises apart from the usual knocking noises where I need to refurb shocks and bushes lol
  4. Ok so just been out to check everything and have cleaned up the boot connection to the chassis and the starting seems a little less “laboured” but still pulls the voltage down to about 9v however when it’s connected and running now after cleaning everything up it’s sitting at 15.5v on the in built Chinese usb charger with voltage display. The in car one is also jumping around my voltmeter is with my work tools buried in the back of the pickup so will dig that out tomorrow and check it at the battery when cranking and running for more accurate readings but I think the alternator might be in its way out but that doesn’t answer the slow ish starting but if it’s been overcharging at 15v+ it has possibly fried part of the battery
  5. Hi all how often should you change the cambelt on the RB26 ? the car has done less than 15,000 miles since the last time it was changed so curious as to how many years it should last etc vs how many miles normally I would do them on previous cars at around 5-6 years of 60-70k is it the same for the HKS I can’t find any specs etc
  6. Help Question to the R32 GTR Gurus Lights flickering and voltage jumping around. Had the alternator reconditioned about 6 years ago. I noticed last year before putting the car away that the voltage on the USB charging adapter was fluctuating 14.2- 14.6 roughly when the car was idling in the garage. Since then I have moved the battery to the boot, fitted 0gauge to the front of the car for 12v 4guage from battery to chassis in the boot Grounding kit in the engine bay cleaned up the points in the bay with a wire brush and in the boot where it’s connected. Changed the dash lights to LED due to a number failing so now it’s more readable at night However still got the voltage fluctuating and lights flickering Anyone got any further tips to try before replacing the alternator and possibly fitting a PDM to replace all fuses and relays (wire tuck at the same time) took car out today and watched the voltage meter that was fitted with the USB out on it and on cranking it drops to 8.x Volts before starting so could be battery related but the battery was checked 2years ago and has lived on a Ctek battery charger / conditioner whilst stored can anyone offer any pearls of wisdom
  7. so with all the big bits done now it was time to start the more smaller less obvious bits lol Fitted
  8. then it was time to re assemble the car i put the wheels on the decide the Green had to go it just didnt look right with the car almost nearing completion and all dirty work out side the car done i installed the aero catches as well
  9. during the spray session the wheels got a bit of over spray so it was time to give them a new lease of life but being wolfrace wheels they are not worth refurbishing professionally so i gave them a quick going over to see what they would look like
  10. a quick polish up with the G220 and some Decent polish it was then time to apply some branding for the shows
  11. then i had to go away for a while so the car was left like this
  12. next step was to flat the lacquer and give it a polish this does however show where you didnt put enough lacquer on as im no professional i did cut to far on a few bits and have had to redo some bits but we all have to learn so here it is after the 1st cut and buff
  13. now for the lacquer Wing Mirrors Side Skirts Wind deflectors and other parts Tailgate Tailgate area Bumper Bonnet Side of the car
  14. Now it was time for base coat Rear Bumper Spoiler Tailgate Bonnet Side of car Random Plastic
  15. Well the car didnt sell so i decided to keep her and sell my 350z i wasnt fully happy with the work i had done so decided to redo it so stage one of the new work consisted of stripping the bits i didnt need off the car and then prepping the new bits and the car ready for the transformation to start Bonnet Bumper Rear Doors Front Doors Car Reassembled ready for more primer including door shuts
  16. Sorry to revive an old thread but I'm looking for these for my stagea over here in the uk Can anyone advise on where tO get a set Many thanks Rabs
  17. ok so been a while and im ashamed to say i had put the car up for sale as i brought a new car as i needed a Economical car But on a brighter note it didn't sell and still hasn't sold so i have decided to keep it funds permitting etc
  18. all in all it was about 7 weeks but this did allow for me not working on it during the week as it was at my weekend house (big garden as you can see) Most of the time was spent on the front end and side skirts preparing for paint etc the rest of the car was mainly a blow over which was about 2 weeks work
  19. So here we go this was the paint match on saturday So i tried to polish but no such luck due to being the wrong paint on the rest of the car so on sunday afternoon i started masking up and monday morning / Lunchtime it got bar-coated sanded the high spots of then hit it with colour So after 3 and a bit coats of paint It was time to leave it over night the roof isnt right and requires a further coat as its so big and such a pain to paint its got alot of imperfections but im hoping that i can get lacquer on it tonight and maybe tomorrow sand the lacquer again and hit another coat on keep your eyes open for more updates lol
  20. Well we have success but was without its moments, if anyone attempts painting the car again dont try and use the Meguiers G220 to get out the Orrange peel or even the aftermareth of using 1000 - 2000 gritt paper as its not man enough. i found this the hard way so had to go and buy a new Sander/polisher but once i did wow what a difference cut through the scratches alot easier and brought the car up to a nice shine so here is the finished article prior to leaving the Booth today So i drove it back to the ranch and gave it some love so after a clean and a hit with Poor boys Black Hole we look like this
  21. Ok so I must be mad but spent the day outside in the rain with the wet and dry paper sanding the orange peel out so we now look like this This is how it did look If the rain will do ne tomorrow I will hit the car with the g220 cutting compound then polish it ready for the ace cafe next week......
  22. ok so thats the second weekend over with an still its not on the road but we do have significant progress there was a few runs so we gave everything a quick rub down and then re lacquered so the moment you have been waiting for well i hope you have anyway lol The body work unfortunately has orange peel i think to do with a mixture of things mainly the heat it got to in the room during the spraying rather than after where you bake it on so this means i have to flat the orrange peel down to get my glass finish i want so that's next weekend sorted here is the comparison what are your views anyone had orange peel from spaying before etc.....
  23. Ok so end of another day which started off not do well there had been a reaction over night to something we suspect a mixture of 2thinners maybe the culprit so had to sand the wing back again few more costs then again untill no reaction was left didn't fancy going all the way back to Barcoat as thats lots of work etc So once this was do e we carried on few more dustings on the rest of the car then a light rub down and lacquer time now this stuff goes off quick dependant on mixture levels do we had what we thought was a 25min window per load turned out due to mixture and heat that it was a 10- 15 min window lol So after 4 passes this is the state
  24. Ok so yesterday I had the day off work so after a early start to get the last few bits do e it was time to paint started with the skirts After a few coats we left those to harden and after about 30min in the polly tunnel it was time for the bumper Again few coats later and lunch time for the wings We deliberately sprayed onto the bonnet to get a thick coat on the edges as we're expecting as with most cars that to be the points that could get damaged easy So... Also did the fuel filler car and the bump strips of the new wings Will do another few overall coats this morning then start with the lacquer depending on how quick it all goes off will depend on if it drives away this Sunday or not...... Stay tuned lol
