  1. I am struggling to figure out which models are which, when I compare the models to choose from car selling websites, and the Infiniti website. For example, on carsales.com I have to choose from badges: GT GT Premium Red Sport S Premium Sport Premium and V6 and V7 series. On the Infiniti website they have: Pure Luxe Sport Red Sport 400 Which ones are which? I want to buy one, but I want a certain version. For example, I don't want the rebadged G37 model, but I also do not want the drive by wire, or fake exhaust speaker model either. Can anyone help?
  2. Most recently my remote fob will no longer unlock my passenger door. For a while sometimes it would work, and sometimes it wouldn't, and now it's stopped altogether. Reading through old threads on this forum, I believe a change in actuator will fix this? I won't be doing any of the repairs myself, so I am wondering what is the cost of a mechanic to fix something like this? On top of that, my mirrors which automatically move when I put my car into reverse, now don't always go back into the same position they were in before I put it in reverse. They attempt to go back into the position, but then overshoot. Have to readjust my mirrors pretty much everytime I have to use reverse. Also, after my last service, I noticed that my trip computer (which I paid to have converted to English) has stopped working. The time counter still works, it just does not count the kms anymore. Which is rather annoying. Also my compass has completely reversed. So it actually points south when I am facing north now. Both of these worked before I took it into servicing. I can not confirm it was the service that caused this though, as they are not things I check often enough. Can these be fixed too?
  3. Good to know I'm not the only one. Still frustrated by it though. Will try and hook up the ecu to display.
  4. I've been told that all cars, in particular Japanese cars, overestimate your speed, so that the speed shown on your speedometer is actually off by a bit. I tested mine using a phone app called Ulysses Speedometer which uses GPS tracking to measure your speed exactly. I discovered that my speedometer is off by a ridiculously huge 8.3%. Which means when my speedo reads 100, I am actually only driving 91.7. And that to reach 110kmph which is the top speed on some highways, my speedo actually has to read 120kmph. I dislike having to estimate the speed I am driving at and never quite sure if I am now speeding or not, and am annoyed that I must be the frustrating person on the road driving unecessarily under the limit. Have you guys measured the difference on your car? Is it similar to mine? Can it be adjusted?
  5. Haha that's so cool that you just traced that job back to me. Yes it was Alberts, and you are correct, that's exactly what they did. I did mention that I had AUX because I originally wanted a USB port or 3.5mm jack, and they told me the USB was too complicated. If by Navi, you mean a DVD navigational system, then yes my car has it, however not converted to an Australian version.
  6. So I recently had a bit of a stereo overhaul on my V35. My CD player was jammed, so I got the whole rear replaced. I have added in a band expander. And I have had a 3.5mm audio jack inserted so that I can plug my Android phone straight into it and listen to songs from it from my phone. The guy at the stereo place explained that to use it, I need to turn on a switch because it uses the FM frequency to transmit, and I have to override the radio. When I tested it at the stereo place, all was fine. But when I went out on the road on a drive to the country, the music from my phone began to fade out and begun transmitting loud static noise. I assume this corresponded to how a radio frequency would have responded. I am sincerely hoping that they have not added in this function without informing me that I can only plug in my phone in areas where there are very strong radio signals. The whole point of it was to have access to music no matter where I was. Can anyone shed some light on this matter for me?
  7. I need to get my CD player unjammed and repaired, and have a band extender installed. I have no idea where to go for this. Can normal mechanics that specialise in Japanese imports do this? Or do I have to go to an audio specialist? Also places that are good with skylines in general would be helpful, I can always get them to refer places to me. Basically I just have no idea where to go for all my Skyline specific problems. Thanks.
  8. My CD player has jammed, and I also need a band extender for my radio. I've been told I should just replace the stereo system. However, I want the console to remain looking the same. I am unfamiliar with putting new sound systems in a car, and I figure they are all different shapes and sizes, and that my centre console will need to be cut to make it fit, and thus losing the buttons it currently has. Can someone explain to me how it works, or post pictures of your aftermarket stereo so I can see how one would look?
  9. So I've just bought a 2003 V35 Skyline, and had it shipped to WA from NSW by the dealer. I had it third party inspected, but never test drove it myself. The CD player does not work, and the CD I put in it is jammed, and makes a noise everytime I turn the ignition on. On top of that, I was told a band extender would be put on the radio, it was not. I am currently considering putting a tape in, just so I have something to listen to...yeah it's gotten to that point. Looks like a band extender is $100-$200 and the CD jam will be $550-$650 according to these forums. What can I reasonably expect to happen? Is the dealer obligated to cover the expenses I will incur fixing these things?
  10. Thanks that is all helpful. Can you explain what an OEM in my boot is though lol. Told you I was noob. And I assume the DVD player would be an extra and separate one?
  11. I also have another question. Does the stereo have a jack I can plug an mp3 player into, since it has an Aux option?
  12. I am a brand new and very noob owner of a new 2003 Skyline V35 GT350 coupe, which I just picked up from a depot where it was shipped by a dealer from NSW to WA. Put a CD in it and it immediately jammed. The expensive jam it seems, based on info from these forums. But that's just me venting. I have a few questions that I am having trouble answering properly by reading the forums. 1. The dealer I bought the car from explained to me that the radio can not pick up radio signals above a certain frequency, and that he added in a device, or software that makes it possible to still listen to your radio stations, but they are displayed at different frequencies than normal. For example 96.1 is now 76.1. However, it is only picking up 2 FM stations and about 3 AM stations. Has he really installed that device? Or is my antenna not strong enough? With my CD player immediately out of action, I would at least like to be able to listen to my choice of radio stations. 2. The Navigation system I understand is incompatible entirely with Australian maps. But can the DVD player, be made to actually play DVD movies? Or can the player be replaced with one that can? 3. Am I correct in understanding that there is now a TV tuner that will pick up Australian TV stations? All the threads say it is impossible, but recently there was one that says it is. 4. I have emailed my local Xanavi Japanese to English trip computer translator installer, and will be getting the software for that. But can any of you tell me what kind of price I am looking at for converting it to English? Also, are there English button stickers that can replace the Japanese ones for the computer? I really appreciate any help I can get.
  13. And yes, I managed to entirely miss the thread, two threads down that discuss this exact question Forgive a noob.
  14. I'm just in the process of buying my first v35 GT350 Skyline (yay), and am searching for the cheapest option for insurance. So far I can only find SGIO and JustCars that insure these skylines and i would be looking at about $1200 a year with a $1000 excess fee. Who do you insure with and what are your costs? Any recommendations?
