  1. You can all say what you want and make up your bed time stories.

John, I advise you get legal action if that is the truth about your car etc...which I don't have a clue about and you can take legal avenues to get compensated.

If you want you can contact me on 0410658888 or [email protected] if you want to and if you have a legitimate story.

Also we don't use WCCG as a warranty company and haven't in a very, very long time as we use National Car Warranty hence your bullshit story.

If you still want to rant and rave on about this I advise you get help as you and your story doesn't match or make sense.

By the way I sleep very well at night and fall asleep within seconds. Not sure about you John.

I am proud to be one of the best and most truthful importer in Australia and just because you have someone telling you what to say and what to do on here

to try and destroy me and what I have left then go for it. Enough is enough though especially with the 1 and 2 post warriors. I hope everyone can see the trend.

As of now and in the future I will no longer be fighting these pathetic and stupid made up battles and stories.

For those that know me personally thank you for your help and support as its over and out for me.

I am the only importer/dealer in Australia that has been fighting these so called allegations as I know the truth and what is said is wrong and full of lies.

Stressing about comments and other dealers that have an influence on here that have been trying to close me down is not worth it.

Please go buy cars off them and make them happy and lets see what sort of cars you will end up with. Don't come crying to me as

all I will say is you deserve it. Many have done so in the past and I have always helped them as I am a gentleman.

I will be closing my account and if you want to rave on about me and tell your lies and stories please feel free to do so and don't hesitate

as I am apparently the worst person in the world and the biggest asshole to deal with. Go for it guys.

  2. I don't have anything to hide and since I didn't want to make this public and wanted to keep it confidential....

Its actually my EX-Wife as we haven't been together for over 6-7 months.

Are you f**ken happy now that I have told everyone on SAU my personal problems?????

YES...I have promised that I would help her business but we go our separate ways very, very soon.

Anyone has a problem with that?????

A few people know and I wanted to keep it under wraps but I suppose I have to log on here every day and tell everyone

what colour undies I am wearing today.... Its black by the way....

  3. Another 1 post wonder who is making up stories.

Its funny how story telling on forums these days has taken off.

Never ever heard of your problem before and as I have said before I am not hiding.

Xtreme Motorsports will be opening back up in a few months once I have found a new place.

For the 100th time.... I AM TAKING A f**kING BREAK AND NOT RUNNING AWAY.

  4. Despite the pessimistic view that I usually hold in terms of import car dealerships (and most people within them), I can understand where you are coming from Joe. The amount of variables that exist within the car import industry is astounding and the way that the industry conducts business can be thought of as somewhat market failure because of the few engaging in illegal activity that would cause the industry average price to decline and leave legitimate dealers with an ethical dilemma in mind: go broke (and close down) or engage in this activity (that everyone is getting away with) to continue operations. Unfortunately most have chosen the latter that has caused this vicious cycle.

Externally, one of the main problems (and conversely solution) is the ignorance that can plague the consumer. It happens when even true car enthusiasts personally 'hate' the dealerships and spend all their time cussing and posting on forums (which personally, I have no problem with because it creates awareness for the unsuspecting people who get duped by some of these dealerships, that I really feel sorry for) when really, the energy and blame should be directed towards the ones who are truly accountable for this: the Government.

The government should have already intervened, tightened up the laws and made huge crackdowns rescuing the industry before this entire mess blew out of control as it has now. Unfortunately, with the announcement of the recent supposed 'crackdown' it is all too late. If we think about this for a moment, if the Gov does knuckle down firmly on the dealerships and they do begin to conduct legitimate business conduct, it would be fair to assume that the average price of the vehicles will be raised. This will further affect the industry by decreasing the demand for vehicles from dealerships that already have somewhat inflated prices as opposed to the now flooded private market. In other words (in my opinion) the industry is f#cked in terms of profitability in the future if the government does tighten down firmly due to the further expenses coupled with the less demand from a rising price (and this is having all else equal – we don’t even have to look at the current rising property/leasing prices). Who knows, maybe this is the reason why they haven’t touched the industry for so long?

The flip side is that, if they decide to leave it the way it is, these business’ may continue to operate, but the consumer will continue to get ripped. Personally, I do not enjoy seeing any consumer being ripped off or any of the crap that goes around in this industry and would prefer the entire industry to collapse, but that could have negative impacts economically depending on the size and amount of employees within the import dealership industry ( I haven’t looked into it).

As for you Joe, if you are being legitimate which it does seem that you are (I honestly have not read much on here lately nor know much about your previous business), it seems as if you are at a cross roads in your life and it would benefit you to take some time off and re assess as you have said. Is there any other industry or skills that you are interested in or have previously been a part of? I don’t know how long you have been in the game or what you did in the younger days but it may be time to look at walking away and looking at new/different ventures in a different industry.

Anyway just my 2c, I hope that my opinion has made sense for both sides of the argument.

Thanks Bill. Fantastic write up and you hit the nail on the head. I agree with you a 100%.

I have and did conduct my business to the best means possible and tried so hard to try and please everyone at the same time.

That in return meant very low profit margins and even trading at a loss on many cars just to try and educate customers that what they are getting is real but unfortunately

I was out numbered by many dealers and backyarders that were up to their tricks and illusions.

I am now enjoying the break as Christmas is coming along and spending time with my family and definitely re-assessing the situation.

I am in the building trade and still have my business operational. I have a development starting in February but I don't need to be there as I have 2 partners that have been

looking after that business for the last 3 years. They know my passion with cars and understand the scenario.

I was always proud of what I did and what I do but after sitting back now and realising how hard things were and the struggle in keeping the business alive is it worth it?

  5. A massive percentage of business fail within the first 5 years primarily due to poor planning..

I understand what's it like to be in the industry Joe as i have been in used cars for several years in the past but have since moved on to new cars.

A lot of customers want everything but expect to pay bottom dollar.. these days it's easy to give your credit card to a dealership in a big city and get them to send you a car on the back of a truck but it's not the same experience as buying in person at your local dealership. This problem is without a doubt the worst part of new cars - people shopping prices elsewhere. Wanting us to drop our pants and do cost price deals and yet be serviced and taken care of etc..

That's off on a bit of a tangent but that's my rant - similar to what you're saying with bills and running a business etc.

The import business i can imagine would be very difficult considering the amount of competition you have, bills and running costs, stat warranty claims etc etc.. not to mention only delivering a small amount of cars every month you would really have to be making good money off each car.

In my work i average $2250 per new car, and i deliver an average of 18 cars per month. Some cars have more margin than others but you know what i mean. I imagine you would have a lot of uncertainty with your profits given what's involved with importing a car and used car reconditioning.. sometimes you take the risk a buy a lemon of a car that costs you too much to recon so you flick it off and wholesale it.

Very true Sean. I believe the new car industry is tough as you have said too.

People shopping around everywhere and not even comparing apples to apples and just want the lowest price.

It is a very hard market as many people are now involved in it and there is a lot of backyarders that think they can make millions by doing it from home.

I can name at least 10 backyarders who have been ripping off people and getting away with it as there is no warranty or comebacks.

We always honoured legitimate warranty claims and did the right thing by all our customers.

Maybe that's the reason why the overheads were becoming too high and should have told everyone to get lost. Lol...

  6. One just needs to pick the right industry or path, do a sound business plan or the due diligence on the numbers of the existing one.

Too many people go in without doing proper research on the feasibility of the business, area it's in, costs, projections and so on. Then end up losing massive money or at best getting back their initial 18months later for what was essentially a bad decision and it screws you for many years to come.

In under 9 months, business I run, decent return coming back and looking to open 2nd in the near future. We didnt go into it blinded like so many do which is often the biggest problem

    I agree.

Though the Car Import industry is very hard to judge as it has a lot of different areas that you could make or lose.

A lot of the hurt in the industry came with GFC as the dollar crashed and hurt many.

  7. Gregg if you feel threatended then this constitutes common assault; also using a carriage service to threaten/ menace is also a criminal offence. I am sure that Forsure has heard of your gang affiliations that would be only too happy to action the threats above, namely: The NSW Police Force and Australian Federal Police (And they always win).

The information that Gregg published is readily available through ASIC searches and the subsequent contradictions he highlights are well founded and deserve a response.

Also of interest, does this mean that a known asbestos building was where your workers were working everyday? The very same ones that you are at pains to mention you will be transitioning to the new business to look after them? Poor Sam and detailers!

I agree. I don't know and don't want to know who has threatened Gregg as that's very uncalled for and cowardly.

I don't need anyone to fight my battles as I can handle them myself. Thankyou

The asbestos was there and I mentioned it to the landlord from day one and did my research and it was not at all any harm unless it was disturbed until when the tree fell.

Sam hasn't been working with us since October/November 2012 and believe he works at Sports Auto Group now.

John the detailer is a Sub Contractor and is mobile and still does work for us and will be doing work for us once we are back in action.

Generally, undisturbed asbestos poses very little risk to people.

The issues get serious when it is damaged; either by impact, paint removal, and rather ironically; fire.

Many of the houses destroyed by fire in Yellow Rock & Winmallee were older houses, which had asbestos present; and the damaged product is causing all sorts of complications in the remediation of peoples blocks for re-building.

A 100% exact. Its harder than everyone thinks.

    Yeah correct.

Certain things can be done, inspections regularly etc. You'd be surpsirsed how many older buildings have it but it's manageable with the government rules being followed on it and so on. No need to get too excited about that.

Back on topic now... Pretty poor to see death threats for what in a nutshell is 5mins of info gathering that is all public record and readily accessible to anyone in the world... Bit weird things would go that path.

The threats are cowardly and uncalled for and I wish I could find who the hell it was so I can give them a big f**ken slap to wake up and there is no need for this.

Whoever it is man up and there is no need for your threats. Reveal yourself or suffer the consequences.

Lol!!!! Next import that someone buys in NSW could very well come with a body in the boot!!

Someone that is actually capable of going through with some sort of violent retribution would probably not bother sending silly threats through an online forum....keyboard warriors FTW!

    Its pathetic and childish behaviour.

Usually if dodgy people are trying to hide something, they resort to the actions we saw above.

Not necessarily as I had nothing to do with their actions and not responsible for what other people say or do.

I cant control everyone and everybody and if they want to make threats they can cop it instead of the innocent people that had no affiliations with it.

  8. If any business man was losing money in business would he not part with it ASAP? I know I would

Its easier said than done especially when you have employees and a lease that cant be terminated. When you enter a lease agreement you become a guarantor and your liable till the end.

Sometimes it's not as easy as just shutting the doors and walking away. The would be minimal examples of a business being set up with zero initial outlay. When you financially and emotionally commit to starting up a business you a) hope that things will get better and you make a return from the business and b) you don't want to fail so keep pushing that bit longer in the hope that it does improve.

I looked at buying a business last year and it made me realise just how successful a business needs to be to make a decent amount of money. You either need huge turnover, huge margins (impossible these days as EVERYTHING is available somewhere else) or minimal overheads. Obviously a combination of all of these would be perfect but in todays competitive, internet driven marketplace that has become just so hard.

I respect anyone that has a crack at running a business as it takes huge balls. Desperate times can lead to desperate measures but not when it means rip.ping off customers.

Well said Shoota_77 and you have hit the mark precisely and exactly.

I couldn't justify ripping off customers and hence why I am taking a step back to assess the situation.

    Out of curiosity,

So we can get a feel for both sides of the story. How many cars have you sold in the past year Joe?

Off the top of my head I estimate 2-3/week but I could be way off the mark. This is just an estimation.

This year we only sold around 80-90 cars though I have lost a lot of money on some. Example: Toyota Bb owed us $16800 and sold it for $10500.

Another good example was a genuine EVO 8 MR with 62000kms that owed us just over $30,400 and we sold it for $28500 because customers kept telling me

that the mileage was too high...LOL...They didn't care if it was genuine or not they only cared for what was reading on the dash.

Well, you say it costs you $11,000/month to rent the site you are at now

However, your site is currently advertised as $6,000+GST/month

    http://www.realcommercial.com.au/property-retail-nsw-strathfield-500953011

That is only one side as I have managed to find someone for the other side. Though they have to wait till the tree is removed and all repairs are done to that side of the property.

Junkie that's $6000+gst for only one side

    100% Correct.

Seriously, if I had a dollar for every time someone had asked me to go into a car yard, I'd probably already have retired. I don't know how dealers put up with the stress of it all, to be honest. The GFC and the tsunami were massive blows to the industry, both in Japan and Australia.

Your a 100% right Iron Chef. Looks good on the outside but the stress is not worth it.

Thanks everyone for your input. It shows that there are some true and decent people out there.

The worst part of the industry is that its very, very dirty and if your not a hard ass or a criminal you cant survive.

Hence the reason of taking a step back for now.

  9. ...& I'm sick and tired of seeing cars at Burwood offloaded to the unsuspecting, whilst I sit on several auction sheets of the same with replaced panels right up to the A-pillars

    SICKENING!

What about all the other areas Terry???

Haberfield? Sylvania? Rydalmere? Newcastle? Blacktown? just mentioning a few.....

  10. Lets face it, the average joe off the street thinks Jap imports should have 50thou kms, but any true enthusiast knows this is BS 99% of the time. That's why we get pissed when dealers aren't honest in their listings, like some of the cars that have been caught out on numerous threads on this forum.

No one with a brain would think it's easy to run an import business, but honesty is still and always should be a priority. How can someone sleep at night knowingly ripping people off?

It's far too easy these days to find the truth about something, technology is making it harder for rats to hide.

Very true and I completely agree.

I hear what you are saying Joe but it all sounds like every single other business in Australia.

If costs are too high and you cant compete then you go out of business. What you don't do is start ripping people off by selling cars that you know are not in the condition that you are advertising. Thankfully it looks like we are finally seeing some movement from the authorities in this respect so hopefully all of the ripoff merchants will be out of business or locked up soon enough.

If the dodgy dealers where actually being shut down, then prices would revert back to where they should actually be and you could make some money. Harvey Norman is still in business and yet you can buy all of their products cheaper online. Just as i can import a car myself for less than buying it locally.

Australia is an expensive place because we have one of the highest standards of living in the world. Basic principles of supply and demand mean that you should still be able to make money as long as there are not too many dodgy people operating in the industry. If you are serious about what you say then you should be focussing some time on trying to get the authorities to chase down and prosecute those in your industry who are doing the wrong thing. Moaning about us not wanting to pay the correct price does not give anyone an excuse to rip people off.

Very true and correct. Its getting hard to trust and find legit cars.

Everyone understands the need to put food on the table and pay the bills. We are not questioning that aspect of running a business nor the hardships that you face.

What consumers are being fed up with is dealerships knowingly and willingly adverstising cars that are not in the condition as described.

As a dealer, you go through the auctions just like any other individual, you see the auction sheets and paperwork and you inspect the car.

    BUT

When you try and resell an "R" grade car with multiple panels replaced, 100XXX on the clock and then knowingly advertise it as "mint, mint, mint no accident damaged car" with less than 60K what did you expect?

The world is shrinking, and there is no such thing as privacy anymore!!! it's naieve to think consumers are gullible. Consumers are now smarter than the average retailer!!!!

This world is small and privacy no longer exists. The reason why I am taking a step back and reassessing the situation here in Australia.

Iam SURE you have made a good living out of importing and selling cars so the rant about costs and the like are rubbish IMHO

If it was so terrible in being in the import business why would you look start up another company......

People on here and like myself aren't stupid and as some import yards think we are. We do our due diligence in checking and re checking the car we are purchasing. If car yards try and pull the wool over our eyes we will expose them for what they are.....

There is a lot of import yards and importers that do the right thing by the customers and have a great standing in the import fraternity and people are happy and willing to recommend them. But when those companies and importers lead customers up the garden path so to speak then consumers will voice there opinions.

    Just my 2c

Actually quiet the contrary. I have been losing money for a very long time with that business. If it wasn't for my building business I wouldn't be able to survive.

The other business as I have explained many times is not mine. I am only helping set up and they have offered me a job and I have said no.

Xtreme Motorsports will still go on and will be back on board soon though I want to run it without me being there as I have further plans as

I have been offered a job in Japan and considering it hence why I was asking these questions etc. and giving the truth and insights to the world behind the

    Imports etc.....

I am not on here for support or moral and don't care what people think of me or say or do.

Trying to show everyone what its really all about is obviously not good enough for some and I think it would take a lot of understanding as many have shown.

  11. Hi Everyone,

Lets see where this leads to?

Being an Importer for many years with all the knowledge about the Importing Industry I would like to share with you all what its like to be on the other side of the fence.

Many Importers in Australia and I am not backing anyone or even myself are finding very hard and expensive to find decent and legitimate cars for the Aussie market.

People in Australia aren't prepared to pay real prices for real cars. Everyone wants a bargain and a new car for the price of scrap.

Everyone doesn't understand that the cars are getting older and harder to find. To give you guys an example:

I flew across to Japan recently and spent endless hours and 12 days and went to over 15 auctions and travelled 6000kms and only to be able to purchase 2 cars.

Most of the cars either went for big money or had major problems such as previous damage or rust and corrosion.

This is only half the battle guys.....

Then you have your Sales Site/ Car yard etc...

Overheads...Rent pending on site. Where we were was $11000 per month.

Carsales- $3-5000 per Calender month (30days). Biggest Rip off ever. Their prices just keep rising.

Ebay and Gumtree- Not free for dealers and is approx. $1000 per month.

    Insurance- $1500 per month.

    Electricity- $1200 per month.

    Water- $200 per month.

Telephones and Internet- $500 per month.

Wages???? pending how many staff you want to run with. Minimum $10000 per month for 2 guys. That's without Commissions.

    You can do the calculations....

This is only the major stuff. Then you have mechanic's bill, auto electrician, warranty comebacks, Detailer, Compliance and the list goes on.....

You cant imagine how much money has to go into this type of business and how hard it is to actually be on top of the bills.

It is really hard work and very deceiving to the outside public and customers.

Lets face it, you the customer walks in and see a whole heap of nice cars and automatically think WOW...

Looks are always deceiving. Hard work, stress and marriages falling apart from this type of business and I feel sorry for every single person that is involved in this business.

I am not trying to whinge or complain but just stating the honest truth and facts as many people don't know.

Sometimes people pick on other dealers especially about the kilometres but those dealers are willing to take the risk as they are competing with each other and in need

of money to keep their business running. Unfortunately this is wrong and has to come to an end but they are doing this as the consumer/customer still believes that all

Japanese Imports are LOW KILOMETRES...and they shouldn't have more than 50-60,000kms....

Thanks to all that have read through this and I would actually appreciate your honest opinion guys and feel free to comment...

Please no harassment towards any dealers or anyone as I am not here to start fights or wars and just curious on how you all feel.

  12. Lol...Someone is bored...

    No shit Sherlock.....

I am not trying to hide and deceive anyone as Xtreme Motorsports is still trading and NOT BANKRUPT, NOT IN RECEIVERSHIP and NOT HIDING.

All Xtreme Motorsports bills have been paid up to date with no hidden agenda's. I am in the process of looking into another property to relocate but

cant find anything suitable or its fricken too expensive.

So why the BIG FUSS I might add.

Yes, I am guilty in helping Team WILD SPEED set up. As I have said to many as it was my obligation and hence why I was taking a break.

I have friends in many places that are trying to help set up Team Wild Speed hence why I am the point of contact.

If you guys want to expose me or would like to chat about your feelings and emotions towards this subject please feel free to give me a call on

0410658888 and will discuss it as much as you like. Please feel free.

I suppose any publicity is good publicity....Lol...Thanks Guys....

I am just being honest and legit unlike any other dealer in OZ and if you cant handle the truth and don't like me or my ways than please refrain from

your stupid and foolish behaviour such as posting absolute crap and especially with private and confidential information that doesn't concern anyone.

    Thank you.

Ohh... For those that have doubt about the tree you can see the attached photo's... Also if you drive past 428 you can still see it as it hasn't been

removed yet as a special asbestos team has to come in and remove all the asbestos first....

    post-86606-0-38691300-1385167397_thumb.jpg

    post-86606-0-06274000-1385167411_thumb.jpg

  13. Yes... Xtreme Motorsports has closed down.

We had a massive tree fall onto our workshop and damaged it severely and its disrupted the asbestos. Due to the health risk we had to vacate.

Wasn't due to hair cuts either Numleg by the way. Unlike your friends that I wont mention who use to do it in-house....Lol....

The Facebook page was sold on to a joint Australian and Japanese company that is new and opening up in January. Xtreme Motorsports have

no affiliation with this company though I have done the right thing by my guys/workers by negotiating a job for them there as I consider them family.

I on the other hand will be taking a break for now as I need a long holiday and will decide early next year what I will do.

If anyone has any questions or would like to contact me please don't hesitate to do so via PM.

Thank you everyone for your support over the years and I am enjoying the break and recouping lost time.

  14. Pleased to hear this was cleared up. It's not good hearing this sort of thing happening to reputable dealerships. Joe may i ask why you sell some of your cars on consignment? i've been in used cars for several years before i moved to new vehicle sales, my dealership ended up scrapping the consignment part of things due to legalities and i guess in your case it'd be difficult to tell if km's are genuine without doing a proper investigation.

    Thanks Sean.

Sometimes we have no choice for selling on consignment as we run out of stock and as usual try to help others.

Its not even worth it on consignment as you get more headaches than its worth.

We now absolutely for no reason whatsoever take any cars on consignment and refuse it. I would rather leave the yard empty.

    Thanks once again.

  15. So was this in the end just an error with paper work?

The car in question was on consignment and compliance and didnt have genuine kms and was handed back to its

    owner/importer.

Apparently the Gtr in question was there on consignment and not a car Joe imported.

Yes thats a 100% correct and we no longer trust anyone no matter who it is.

I think being caught out with wound back cars and showing VIN numbers for legit cars does not cover the fact of what's been done.

Besides that all buyers beware ,

The cars that I forwarded to JOC are cars that we have currently in stock and they were picked at random.

I am happy to supply more if needed though I have forked out $400 already.

As I have said above and many other times through out this thread those specific cars were here on consignment

and have now been returned to their owner/importer. We thought we would do the right thing and help them out but

unfortunately we have taken the fall and hit on cars that werent even purchased by us. I always try to help everybody

all the time but my kindness got our decent reputation in trouble this time around.

    ^^^ Agreed.

Those odo checks above didnt really prove anything besides those cars being checked being legit. But what about the 4 other cars dodgeyimports listed on the first page?

And all these new sau accounts popping up seems very sus...

    Caveat emptor...

I highly recommend a check on any import if anyone is looking for a car as there a very few and very rare genuine importers.

As for the new SAU accounts...LOL...Thats what happens on forums and blogs.

Everyone is a Keyboard Warrior and like to hide under another name so they dont get found and so they dont get known who they are.

I call that an act of cowardness. Its funny that they can be tough behind a keyboard. Lol...

  16. Hell we should name and shame dealers who do the dodgy that can be proven red handed. Thats the only way this import scene is going to clean up its act and make sure people like me and you guys are not ripped off!

I bought my car with 61***kms on the clock, I doubt its done that much but like to think it has :P hehe

Joe- Glad its all sorted out here mate and hope you can show other dealers how to keep a good rep around this place!

    Thanks Harry.

I highly agree that all shonky dealers should be reported as it makes the honest ones look stupid and gives them a bad reputation

even though they are trying to do the right thing.

  17. Attached are the full check results including translations for those who are interested. (in PDF Format)

One vehicle is missing due to a clerical error and the certificate for that vehicle will be posted up as soon as I receive it.

    Thanks JOC.

Hopefully this will shed some light on the truth as I like to be honest and straight forward unlike others.

    Appreciate your efforts.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the GTR checked above is not the one originally questioned.

No its not on there as that car was here on consignment and compliance and is now gone back to the person

who imported it alongside some of the other cars that use to be on our site.

I actually gave JOC a few chassis numbers that we have currently in stock.

From now on we will absolutely not and have banned consignment cars after this altercation.

If it doesnt have history and full Japanese documentation I wont even purchase it.

  18. I have checked auction sheets for all four Evo chassis #'s above and can confirm that the km's listed in brackets and where applicable on Xtreme's website are consistent with those recorded on the auction sheet. Unfortunately I could not find the auction sheet for the R32 GT-R chassis # above. I expect JOC will clear all 5 vehicles and you will all be able to see for yourself the de-reg/export papers. I am not going to post these auction sheets as I do not believe it is fair to Xtreme to have gradings debated in a public forum given there has been no mis-representation on these cars. When it comes to condition, the car is at the dealership for inspection - those interested can make their own assessment.

My suggestion on the learnings that should be taken from this thread:

    1) When buying an imported car from a dealer - treat every car as "guilty until proven innocent"

    2) If you have high expectations and want a low km's grade 4.5 / 5A car - be realistic, look at the auction prices: it ain't going to happen at a dealer - import it yourself

    3) Don't fall under the illusion that you're going to be the special person to find a "reputable/genuine" dealer (and hence can check your brain at the door) in an industry that is riddled with this cancer - chances are slim to none you'll find one. Be a skeptic every step of the way

    4) Do not assume that the law, a government department or official process is protecting you from this practice, or that it will protect you after the fact

    5) Look at auction price statistics for the car you're interested in and use tools on import broker websites to calculate how much it would cost to bring it in yourself. If you can't see where the dealers profit margin is, assume there is a problem with the car. Offer the dealer a price that is below what it would have cost for you to import it - if they accept, there is definately a problem with the car

    6) All dealers will tell you they don't engage in such activity and import genuine cars regardless. Whether they are aware if what they are selling is genuine is another matter

    7) Ask for a de-reg/export certificate and learn how to read one (there are plenty of internet resources to help). If the dealer claims they don't have it (they do) or won't give it to you - walk away. If you're still not dissuaded and have $ to spare, use a service like JOC to get a copy BEFORE you put down a deposit. Remember, depending which document you get this may only alert you to a very large windback. If the car has done very few k's since the last recorded on the certificate - be wary

    8) Get an independent mechanical inspection by someone that knows the model and preferrably has some experience in smash repairs

    9) A good detailer can hide a multitude of sins (and km's). Although windbacks are easy to spot at some dealers, I assure you - trying to check km's by looking at seat bolsters, steering wheel wear etc... does not work - you will be surprised

I'm sure there are plenty on this forum wiser than me that could add to this list.

PS. One of the chassis # is for the orange evo which is indeed complied - wow looked track-only to me, don't know how this got through!?

    Thanks Dodgy Imports.

I will send you a copy of the Skyline one if you want.

For all those that are interested I have also paid JOC this morning for the De-Reg's to come in.

Thanks once again to all the supporters that have been ringing us and contacting us in regards

    to this.

    Thanks

  19. Wow... $80 is actually really good value considering what you receive is a piece of official government-issued documentation and a fully translation version which is likely to increase the value of your car (assuming the KM's check out legit). This can only be done IN JAPAN - which means someone has to be available in Japan to request the document from the government agency. These people have to eat.

$80 on a $15,000+ investment is bloody good value.

    Stupid thing to post.

RE: Joe - much respect to see that you are putting additional cars up for scrutiny and looking to fix the issue. I will have a more detailed response later.

Thanks. $80 is worthwhile on any car you purchase or look at.

Also I believe its the dealers responsibility to notify the customer if the kms arent genuine and be honest and straight forward.

Sometimes the car might have had an aftermarket speedo/cluster and has been changed back etc...or

    whatever the case might be.

I have told a few customers straight up especially when the car has a Nismo cluster etc that this is the real mileage.

Thank you for your reply DodgyImports.

$80 on a $15,000+ Investment equates to less then 1%. Let me be exact here it equates to 0.0053% of the purchase price !

Please explain to me how that is indeed not good value at all?

Joe is the first dealer to jump onboard after I've had numerous customers from all around Australia in the past 3 months since I've opened up business.

What motivated me to open up this business was the purchase of an import myself in September last year through a dealer here in Sydney (Not Xtreme, but I'm not mentioning names)

When I confronted the dealer with the certificate their response to me was "We feel bad, and for that we will give you trade-price servicing on your vehicle!".

That not only outraged me but made me go as far as to spread the word that such documentation was available and take it into my own hands to assist others in this matter. If Joe does indeed come onboard and hopefully with every one of his stock, it will be a first to ensuring a fair playing field for Imports from Dealers here in Australia.

Just to be clear here, there will be two reading on the odometer certificate, one when it was deregistered in Japan and another from when it went for it's previous Shaken (bi-annual registration check). My vehicle for example, read 42,700 in 2005 and 77,300 in 2007 when it was deregistered. However it was sold to me in 2012 with 60,371 ? It was brought in by an import company in 2007 and sold to its owner then with 38,000 and the owner put in on consignment at a dealer ( who should have checked the car's genuinity before placing it on their lot) and sold it to me.

What other way do you think we can resolve this situation, BakeMonoRicer?

    I'd love to hear :)

Thats pretty unfair from the dealer you purchased your car from especially with proof.

We will be definitely going on board with you (JOC) and hopefully we can keep all the shonky

dealers in line for a change.
