  1. Hey guys, Doing research on cars because I will be buying my first one towards the end of this year. I love both the R34 Skyline and S15 Silvia and I have heard good and bad about both but which one do you prefer and why? Also which engine is easiest to squeeze more power out of? Cheers, Tristan. P.S. Being my first car will be N/A
  2. Sorry should have elaborated more by pistons I meant pistons + rings and maybe a rebore. Just trying to gauge cost because next year I will be buying a skyline and want to do a few mods (cams, exhaust and a tune) but didnt want to do them unless i knew the engine would cope so I figured I'd look into the cost of a rebuild.
  3. What would you guys recommend I do to a RB25DE to bring it back to close to factory spec? Mainly focussing on pistons but do you guys think the bearings would need doing?
  4. Probably pistons, rings and possibly bearings. Cheers, Tristan.
  5. Hey guys, Just wondering what a ballpark figure of an engine rebuild is (non turbo) I did a quick search but didn't really find anything. I understand that to narrow it down you need how many k's and what engine etc. but just looking for like I said a ballpark figure. Regarding the rebuild itself don't want it to race spec or anything just to bring it back to basically stock. Cheers, Tristan.
  6. Awesome what English cars do you have? (If you don't mind me asking). My uncle has a 1947 Austin 10 that my great or great great grandfather bought from the show room. After I've bought a Skyline I'm going after 1925 Dodge.
  7. Hi D_I_F, Thanks for the welcome. At the minute I don't have any vintage cars although I may have one in the coming years. At the moment I only have vintage stationary engines dating from 1933 - 1948. Cheers, Tristan.
  8. Hi Guys, My name is Tristan I'm 16 and I'm from Frankston VIC. Despite my age and where I'm from I'm not the usual stereotype. I love restoring vintage machinery and I have loved Skylines since I was about 10. Hopefully next year I will be a proud owner of a Skyline as I'm picking up an apprenticeship and as of next year will be working full time. Cheers, Tristan.
  9. Thank for replies guys. The model of commodore I'm interested in comparing the skylines to is a vz. Thanks, Tristan.
  10. Hi guys, I'm a newbie here so please forgive if I do something wrong. I have read a few times that N/A skylines are slow but what are they like compared to a commodore? Thanks, Tristan.
