  1. i didnt say they were the same thing but they perform the same task and champ had blow off valve not pop off valve i can quote published documentation but for any interested parties have a read off FORCED INDUCTION PERFORMANCE TUNING by Graham Bell .This guy is a legend and has lived and breathed race all his life and it is well worth the read.

And someone tell me how a bov is for emissions is has no benefits for emission at all

I will give it a read, thanX for that.

As for now Im off to bed

  2. A POV will not vent on throttle liftoff. A BOV will.

    They’re not the same thing.

As for racecars not using BOV may be correct. If you think about it, a champ car uses SWOL (Shift With Out Lift) so a BOV is not really needed here, but if the driver tries to turn up the boost to far in a race the POV will stop him exceeding the regulation limits.

As for a road car with the constant lifting of the throttle in everyday driving conditions a BOV will assist in a quicker spool up of the turbo.

  3. Roy is correct.

A Pop off valve is fitted by the governing body in motor sports and is compulsory, where a BOV valve is not.

    Two totally different operations.

POV's are to stop race teams running more than a pre-set amount of boost as defined by the governing body.

A BOV is fitted to help reduce turbo spool up time after a throttle close.

  4. Your keep telling us you have the proof that the BOV's do nothing and challenge anyone to prove otherwise.

You Sir have not yet shown any proof to the contrary.

Posting VDO's and links to other (which is you again telling it how it is)forums does not prove squat.

Post your proof here and make us all look stupid, at the moment your talking through your (for the lack of a better term) :shake: ...

  5. can anyone answer my question regarding blocking the small hole in the bottom of the factory BOV? and its damaging effect, if any to the rest of the turbo system? i just want to be sure i wont f*#k anything if i block it off and take it for a strap. :)

ps. i have decided to stick with my std bov cause i really dont have the $$$ to replace my turbo 'IF' it shits itself due to increased wear from compressor surge.

Matty it won’t damage anything if you block the little hole in the bottom of the stock BOV, but it will be difficult to feather the throttle especially in lower gears.

  6. Please... Even sydneykid knows what im talking about.

there is NO test proven that they do ANYTHING.

We have done many tests on our autronic sm2 with datalogging and testing how much damage the air can do.

Pushing many turbo's past 25+psi and no damage with TESTS to prove the air didnt damage the turbo.

Sydneykid knows this himself, and i bet his race car DOESNT have a BOV.

Sierra Cosworth's pushing 45+psi down mount panarama screaming with there external wastegate's and did NO damage.

Please , get your facts right before posting crap on the forums.

    Petar.

    LOL

    What ever fool

  7. Yes, the reason its there for is emmisions.

If you dont care your car makes the flutter noise then remove the utter jibberish BOV.

    Petar.

    Petar try reading this

    The idea of a BOV is to prevent the air from reversing direction when the throttle is closed. This has 2 effects;

    1. It prevents the compressor being suddenly stopped (or run backwards) when the air rushes back the wrong way.

    2. It keeps the air (in the intercooler and pipework) moving in the right direction ie; towards the engine.

Its not just for emissions boy :kick:

  8. Hi Matty

Don't remove the BOV it's there for a reason. As for the small hole in the BOV, yes it does leak boost so you get a nice smooth transition between no boost and boost. For every day driving and Circuit work I leave it un blocked. For Drag racing I block it off.

  9. "if in doubt, give it a clout".....just make sure that nut is still done up with plenty of thread.

the one on the GTR was damn tight to get off.

Agree with Drunken. The bigger the doubt, the bigger the clout. Try hitting it with the palm of your hands but not from the back, head on as if your trying to fit it back on. You need to do it rather quick to get some vibration happening to break the seal between the two metal surfaces.

  10. scissor doors = Rice and only adds wank factor to the car...

I have to agree with Krzysiu. I'd feel like a wanker opening the door in a Skyline fittd with a Lambo door kit. I dont have a GTR badge on my GTS-t so I wouldn't want a Lambo door on a Nissan.

But each to their own. Good luck with it.

  11. Selfish?

This is happening every week or so. It could have been my wife and kids this guy killed.

I’m sick of wishing the family’s of these people condolence’s over the behaviour of a few morons who think that the rules do not apply to them.

Condolence’s to the family’s. Just because he was driving a Skyline doesn’t make him my brother. I used to think it did.
