  1. SURE CAM can regrind stock cams , they are fairly mild because stock cams cant be ground much .

He does an inlet with 255 degrees duration and 8.2 mm lift

    exhaust 258 " " " " 8.2 " "

stock cams are 240 degrees duration with 7. 8 mm lift

$ 170 per cam to regrind

  2. it is, took my mate a few solid nights and some weekend time to sift thru everything tracing wires to see where they went and what they hooked into, the amount of surplus in the looms is astounding..

AH tell me about it . Have spent many hours unravelling harness . Thought i had it right , then discovered i had chopped out 16 wires too many that go to the transmission ecu , a big BUGGA . Have had a lot of help from NICO forum in sorting that prob out .

  3. Spent many hrs on saturday , disecting the harness . had pulled out all engine bay harness and in car harness . Massive amounts of wiring . Found a total of 6 computers . Only using 2 of the computers , engine management and auto trans . Believe i have all the wiring i need after chopping out one big box full of surplus wiring and electricals .

  4. Mods will be limited to extractors ( home built ) , cams if i can get the stock cams ground , malpassi fuel pressure reg , Apexi safc 2 and a decent air intake .

I will be doing the installation myself and am going to tackle the wiring up too .

I will be using the auto box the engine come with , cheapest and easiest option for now . Fitting an rb25det box would be a good option , but but would cost more than my whole half cut by the time its fitted .

The red car is not for sale yet, as it will still be my daily driver until i finish the blue cars conversion . Hoewever will be selling the rb30de engine at a latter date , maybe towards the end of the year .

Its not a priority but it would be nice to have it all done for a total of less than $ 5000 ( including purchase of car and half cut ) . 150 Mph + for less than $ 5000 , i like .

  5. OK . Here is a pic of the wagon i raced this year at Lake Gairdner speed trials . Was running a RB30DE . Best average speed over 1 mile was 141 .187 MPH ( 227.21 kmh ) . I saw 152 MPH ( tacho reading ) at the end of one run . Engine basically stock with 370 cc injectors , extractors and 2 x rb25 throttle bodies , apexi safc 2 , and thats it . Standard cams and head .... NON TURBO

  6. This is the plan .

    Build an R31 with a VH41DE ( Nissan V8 4100cc )

    Heres what i have .

    I bought a VH41DE half cut for $ 1750 delivered

Bought the wagon for off ebay for $ 900 . It has a mint body . Replaced the diff ( $ 80 ) , replaced leaky water pump ( had a spare ) . Got it registered 3 weeks ago .

I plan to keep it looking as stock as possible , even down to the hubcaps .

Am only interested in going fast in a straight line , drags and on the salt flat .

Deliberately chose the 4100 cc engine to suit the class ( F = 3000 - 4300 cc ) i want to run at the salt lake speed trials .

  7. what you mean going to skyline heaven?!

what are you going to do with the engine etc?

what plans do you have after this one?

    This is whats happening .

    About 6 mths ago i bought a mint 89 gx wagon off ebay for $ 900 .

The plan was to tranfer the drive train from the rusty red car into it .

As i wanted more power out of the rb30de , i did some sums and figured i could get more power by putting in a Nissan V8 . So i have bought a Nissan vh41de half cut for $ 1700 . It was going to cost me at least $ 2000 for a pair of rb25 cams and an aftermarket ecu . Plus i can sell off the rb30de and manual box and all the other goodies for more than the cost of the half cut . Bsaically its going to cost me nothing to go faster , just a lot of time and a few headaches i spose .

End result will be 89 gx wagon with vh41de , hopefully by about October .

Red wagon will go to heaven ( just dont like dead cars hanging around )

  8. nah not yet sorry. its winter time here. the nearest drag strip is closed.. well the only other one i know of is 8hrs away..

when it gets back to spring/summer i will take it to the strip and see what she dus ;) well whenever i hear of the next drag met

    have you dynoed yours yet?

sorry for delay . No havent had it dynoed yet , probably wont , car will only be on road a few more months before it goes to Skyline heaven .

  9. nice dude.

what compression ratio has that thing got. and what pistons to acheive it, any shaving of head et?

I calculated i have10.5 - 1 compression . I use stock RB25DE pistons which sit about .050" lower than rb30s . RB25DEs pistons have taller dome tho . To get around 11-1 + compression , deck the rb30 block .050" so that pistons outer edge sit higher

  10. hey dondesto, have you thought about doing something to get some fresh air to those pods? an alloy plate probably wont really do much, but it would be interesting to see what someone could come up with.

THIS IS WHAT I DO WHEN RACING

    3rd and 2nd pics are what i used at drags ( 14 .4 @ 95 mph )

1st and 3rd pics are what i used at sal lake speed trials ( 141 mph average at one point taching 152 mph )

  11. GDAY . Those figures seem ok to me . High performance imports magazine got close to that figure with an r33 rb25det after a good tune and a few minor mods .

My engine is very close to what you have , and my times at the drags ( 1/4 mile ) are near identical to what a stock r33 rb25det should do .

The difference in my engine is 370 cc rb25det injectors , twin throttle bodies and i run an apexi safc 2 .

AHA got that wrong . i dug out that magazine i quoted from HPI 48 . They tested a r3 4 door auto RB25DE and base figure was 105 rwkw . They played with timing , air intake and tried a fuel cut defender and got it up to 121 rwkw .

  12. cheers lith

the only reason i thought it was running rich was cus thats what andre told me. plus that would explain the poor fuel econmany even on long distance driving. but then again that might be down to the tune of the car plus being an auto ecu...

yeah don im now sorta aiming towards your mods to help gain performance etc. i will be interested to see your dyno results when you get yours done. how long till you do your one? how did you tune the safc?

i been thinkin about getting it dynoed for the last 2 years , cant rush these things .

the safc tuning kind of guessing . As i run a rb25de ecu and i have an engine 20 % bigger , i justed figured it needed at least 20 % more fuel plus a bit more for having more air via the 2 x throttle bodies and extractors . From idle to around 3000 rpm it has an extra 10 up to 30 % at high throttle 3000rpm and above 30 % . low throttle settings are all set at 5% below this
