  1. thats a temporary setup to get it running . will be running 2 tubes with 45 degree bends so that pod filters will be behind headlight . shielding , thats a good idea too and will try it too
  2. Fitted it up on Saturday . As you can see in the pics its got 2 x afm . However only 1 was wired up . As i,m running an apexi safc 2 i tried to add enough signal to compensate for the fact that the afm air speed would be 1/2 what it used to . I had to increase signal to nearly max what the safc can put out . HMMM Sooo switched the input signal to the safc to think it was connected to a q45 90mm afm , as i kinda worked out the air flow speed thru a 90mm t/b would be about the same as 2 x 70 mm inlets . IT WORKED . So the setup consiasts of : 2 x 60 mm rb25 throttle bodies 2 x 70 mm rb25 air flow meters ( only one is wired up , the other is left there to have equal restrictions on both inlets ) apexi safc 2 , input signal set at 1 ( q45 infinity afm 99 mm signal) output signal set at 4 ( rb25 ecu being used ) As a preliminary tune i have put in 20% + at all low throttle settings 27% + at all high throttle settings So far i,m pretty impressed by the way it drives . Seems more responsive and more torque . At a steady 100 kmh the throttle was 14 % now its only 8 % . Will take it out to Willowbank drags test and tune soon as i can . Theres still a few things to tidy up on it but at least its fitted and running well .
  3. THANKS FOR THE OFFER . 1ST I,M PUTTING THE MANIFOLD ON THIS WEEKEND WITH THE 2 X RB25 AFMS AND TRY AND ADJUST THE APEXI SAFC UP TO GIVE ME THE FUEL I WANT . IF THAT DOESNT WORK I WILL THEN GO FOR THE SINGLE Q45 AFM . WILL KEEP YOU IN TOUCH AS TO HOW IT ALL GOES . THANKS AGAIN
  4. my speedo ( r31 wagon ) only goes to 180 kmh and i.m not running a signal to the rb25de ecu . SOOOO when i race at the salt lake in speed trials the speedo neddle just starts bouncing off the stop . The faster i go the bigger the needle bounces . Sooo when its bouncin really big i know i,m goin fastest ( the tacho keeps on goin up ) Best speed is 226 kmh electronically timed .
  5. AHA Just read those articles and it seems i was heading in much the same direction , except i will have the 2 x afm , not 1 x afm and a secondary bypass . i will fit it and see what happens . i could probably just wire up 1 afm and be able to adjust the air fuel ratio to what i need
  6. Thanks again for the inputs . Now i,m going to try 2 things. You see i have just replaced the fuel press gauge on the fuel reg . The old gauge was reading way too high . In reality i was only running 20 psi , its now reset to 36 psi . Now thats messed up all my air fuel ratios and have had to reset by pulling back around 25 % with the apexi safc . SOOO i am going to put on the 2 x rb25 afms and see if i can adjust it up to what i need . i now have around 70 % scope to play with . At present the apexi safc it set around minus 20 % , and you can adjust them to 50 % plus . Ya with me . Now if that dont work i will finish off the Y piece which is 2 x 75 mm tubes running to 1 x 90 mm tube ( when i can find a bit ) then to an infinity Q45 90 mm afm

  8. WOULD ANYBODY KNOW IF RB20DE/T CAMS WILL FIT R33 RB25DE/T HEADS . I AM WILLING TO GET RID OF THE V.V.T. ON THE INLET CAM . IT JUST THAT IT SEEMS THERES A BIGGER RANGE OF CAMS FOR THE RB20DE/T . IF THEY DO FIT NO PROBS THEN I WILL USE ADJAUSTABLE CAM GEARS . I INTEND RUNNING THE HYDRAULIC LIFTERS SO THAT LIMITS ME TO 8.8 MM LIFT . MAX DURATION I WANT IS 270 .
  9. THANKS FOR ALL THE INPUTS SO FAR . SORRY HAVEN,T BEEN HERE FOR A FEW DAYS TO RESPOND . I figure the simplest way is to run a single AFM . The apexi is switchable between most nissan afm inputs including z32 and infinity 90 mm . i,m now making a Y piece and will just hook up a rb25 afm until i can get something bigger . This year when i ran at the salt lake speed trials the afm didnt max out , it went to a max of high 60 %s , was reving up to 7000 rpm . heres some figures of areas of t/b and afm . 2 x rb25 t/b ( 60mm dia ) 56 sq cm 1 x rb 25 afm ( 75 mm dia ) 44 sq cm 1 x z32 afm ( 80 mm dia ) 50 sq cm 1 x q 45 ( 90 mm dia ) 63 sq cm

  11. if your willing to pull the engine out , put a rb30 bottm end under it and use the rb25de pistons ( give 10.5 - 1 compression ) or get block decked to take it up to 11.0-1 , about the limit for premium unleaded . a set of cams an after market ecu or just an apexi safc 2 rb25det injectors 370 cc as against stock 270 cc extractors with 2 1/4 " or 2 1/2" exhaust cold air intake dyno tune
  12. IS THE HEAD R32 OR R33 ? DOES IT HAVE THE VVT ? WHAT CAMS DOES IT HAVE ? REGARDS DON
  13. yep painted it silver cold galvanising paint . not too shiny or tackey like chrome paint and lasts longer.
  14. well this is the way i understand it . with 2 x afm the output signals of the afms would be 1/2 that of just 1 x afm the safc can accept 2 x input signals , then sends out 1 signal which is just an average of the 2 x inputs not adds them together .. so i still end up with just half the normal signal . the ecu would send the ammount of fuel to suit that signal , not enough .
  15. seems i cant run 2 x afm s , so am going to make up a Y piece from the 2 x t/b and just use the 1 x afm
