  1. (edit) As to how i know... like i sad eariler a family member worked over there for 4 months and eneded up buyign a car rather than renting... He commented when he got back that he could have bought a ZR1 for 80k, as they had them in the showroom at the chev dealership with fluro marker pen on the wind screen... Like all chevs at the moment you can buy one for 15 to 25% off RRP...

Having worked in sales now for 11 years, when a product becomes aged or slow moving many retailers and wholesalers will go well and truly below their cost price just to get stock to turn over... It happens every day here in Australia also, just not to the extent of the US car market is right now...

I VERY much doubt you could get a ZR1 for 80k, someones telling porkies. The base ZR1 is listed at 105K, so that 's US25k off MSRP!!!

I'm sure these guys would like to know how to get one at that price.

  2. Jokes aside, think about this. How and when did Holden come up with the thought that they could charge this amount of money for a car based on the assumptions that Aussies will gobble it up because of Brockie, Skafie, the Mountain and grunt?

Thats pretty f**kin arrogant if you ask me.

Holden had a Monaro concept at a Motor show a couple of years ago that used the Corvette C6R engine and lot's of other race goodies and said it would cost around $250 000, they were taking deposits left, right and center and stopped at 50 but then can canceled the program.

That is where they knew they had a market for this car, I bet they could even sell it for over $200 000 and still sell them all.

So is this the real deal or is it a photochop?

Well, since that article is almost a YEAR old, it's just speculation. Nissan has not mentioned ANYTHING about a EVO version, there will only be a V-Spec and all we know is that it will have more power, less weight, better aero.

Considering the V-Spec will have no rear seats, more carbon fiber I can't see how an 'EVO' version could top that.

  4. Was on the xr6T forum today. They were comparing the new F6 with the w427. There speculating the F6 will have around 600nm of torque and about 320-330kw, compared to the w427 with 370kw and 650nm? torque. the F6 will probably cost 1/2 the price and may actually keep up with the w427.

Now I think the R35 doesnt weigh all that much less than the F6 and w427. It has less torque than both and its power figure sits in the middle of both.

Would it be reasonable to say that the F6 or the w427 could out accelerate the R35 if they were rolling and did not loose traction?

Im not too keen on anything with 7L but the F6 with launch control could be a ball tearer.

No way will the F6 come out with 320+kw, try 300...and no they won't compete with the GT-R.

  5. no it wont. no one much outside of australia cares what happens in australia. we are a tiny market and are also geographically isolated from the rest of the world. selling a de-tuned version here wont mean bugger all to all their customers in US, UK and Asia. I agree it will be very dissapointing if it happens, but it's certainly within the realm of possibility.

Nissan has said the 911T is it's main rival and has benchmarked it against the GT-R the whole way through it's development. How is it meant to compete with said car if it's detuned???

I can't see nissan advertising it as a 911T beater with a disclaimer saying (only in japan, not the rest of the world).

    It doesn't make sense.

  6. We'll you can't just say it's Nissan. Think of the NSX, EVO and STi's as well....

But it was funny because he was doing the big talk on the microphone saying "Well we don't know the specs of the Aussie car - but the Japanese version does 0-100 in 3.6s, Nurburgring in blah blah blah". It was almost like he was trying to slip the 1st sentence in un-noticed. lol It was one of the main reasons I went and had a chat to him!

It would be very disappointing if Nissan Australia detunes the car but I can't see Nissan Japan allowing a detuned version of the GT-R, it would really hurt the cars reputation as a GLOBAL supercar..... The UK are getting the full spec and so is canada/USA (and they have worse fuel then us), I can't see it happening. Maybe he is referring to the suspension specs? I know that the USA are getting a revised version to be more 'user friendly'.

  7. its not there yet :ermm:

That's because it's only just after midday there.

Don't get your hopes up for a 15 minute review with track times etc. Apparently it's only a short review and jason plato was impressed, he loved the DSG but was a bit nit picky, mentions a bit of understeer.

Going to have to wait for a while longer until Nissan provides 5th gear and Top Gear with a GT-R to really flog (the one driven by plato is a customers imported GT-R which is the first one in the UK)
