  1. Hello. Here's an update. Rang the closet place. He said the conversion is easy to engineer. But the car will need to pass emmisions, that's the biggest problem. He said vipac do it and it's about $1000. I've looked on the net and everywhere it says u can't engineer a rb30/25? This is so confusing! The car is a 1995. The rb30s where in patrols up until 1997. And the 25head is around 91-93. What is your input on this people? I've hit a brick wall
  2. Another post but I've tried searching. I've looked up automotive engineers in vic and found lots of people but I don't know if they are actually engineers. Can anyone give me some numbers? I've searched around and I Dnt think I will be able to engineer the car.
  3. Can anyone shed some light on getting a rb30/25 engineered and registered in a 1995 GQ Patrol Patrols come with carby rb30s up until 1997
  4. Ive had a look around and im starting to get nervous to whether i can engineer this. Im thinking i should keep standard turbo and standard injectors for now and go aftermarket ecu so i pass emissions test? ALSO I KEEP SEEING $3000 FOR AN EMISSION TEST?!
  5. Okay we will go with 200rwkw. With that ecu mate will it have the tuning capabilities to pass an emissions test? The car was last registered as a RD28TD. The RB30 bolts straight up, gearbox and engine mounts. But ive been told it will need to pass an emissions test, because the motor is older than the car. Plus the engine will need to be engineered. Cheers
  6. Well don't have exact specs in hand, but heads been fully rebuilt so has motor just with stock rods and cast pistons. Would love around 250rwkw, is this realistic in a 2ton car without stressing things to much? Thanks
  7. Keeping in mind id rather spend less. Car still has to be registered so need to get everything engineered
  8. E85 isn't in my area. Also what's a good ecu to get? It will need to pass emissions so a Nistune and that is out of the question. I have a budget of $4000 for ecu and turbo
  9. I just thought because its a 4wd it will be a whole different ball game. I have a stock turbo but I've heard the ceramic wheels are break past 14psi. The motors been fully rebuilt and I'm aiming for reliability as well as power. I plan on keeping the car
  10. I have a Nissan GQ rb25/30 it's been rebuilt only with cast pistons and standard rods. I am chasing a new turbo so I can get some power from this motor. Also what injectors should I look at? The ones on there heaps of the plastic tips on the end of the injector have snapped off.
  11. Okay thankyou
  12. The way u put your words together it doesn't sound promising. Are you taking the piss or u for real? Haha
  13. haha that doesnt sound good, i am 95% sure it will work, is anyone positive?
  14. I think u misunderstood my question mate, i have a fully complete S1 rb25 that has 2 bent conrods(hydrolocked) apart from that its fine, and i have bought a fully rebuilt motor minus all the accessories except spark plugs, so what im asking is can i swap all my intake and exhaust to the s2? Thankyou
  15. Hey guys I bought a bare engine, just block and head. What I'm wondering is can I use my series 1 coil packs if I use my external igniter? And can I use my intake manifold and exhaust manifold? The series 1 coil backs are near new so that's why I'd like to swap them over.
  16. Assuming you can do it yourself it wil take about 4 or 5 hours to replace the headgasket, so just do that an clean your head up abit. If you want rebuild it, new springs/heavier whatever u choose because when the bottom end lets go you can still transfer your head over to your new secondhand/rebuilt motor.
  17. And can I use my s1 intake manifold?
  18. Hey guys well I bought a rebuilt rb30/25 that's already assembled. Just bare engine. The heads s2 but doesnt come with coils or anything and my old s1 engine comes with nearly brand new coils ect. So can I just swap all that over to turn it into a S1
  19. Yeah it just seems so complicated. What oil restrictors should I use with a vct head and a standard rb30 oil pump?
  20. Scrap that idea, i dont want to remove the crank to fit the rb25 oil pump, so is the rb30 pump sufficient? Cheers
  21. So do you reckon i should go 1mm or 1.2mm? Later on ill be runner a bigger garret turbo and say around 14PSI. Im currently reading the 357 page thread and i think im confusing myself more and more. Hence why i created this thread. Will the standard rb30 oil pump be suitable? I plan on rev limiting it to 7k maybe even 6.5k. Also should i go a standard rb26 head gasket? 1.2mm i belive they are? Thanks heaps for your reply mate, we have no performance shops here so yous are my best help.
  22. EDIT - Just reading should run a -16 drain fitting from head to sump instead of oil restrictors?
  23. Hey guys well i have a rb25 powered patrol, going the 30DET root. I have the block here and the head. Heads off tomorow to get get the oil gallery plugged up. I need oil restrictors for the head yes? Where do i buy these from? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Yes ive searched and searched. But there are so many different opinions as to what head gasket i should go? Can someone link me to one so i can go ahead and purchase. Ive heard i should go ones thats got built in o rings? Thankyou. I have about 3 guides im reading in front of me. Keep in mind i live in a country town and there are no such places as performance engine builders. Ive found one place that will screw the hole up in the head Thanks Zac
  24. I'm in Vic if the laws are different to other states? Anyway Im buying a new nearly complete engine. The heads a series 2 and I'm just wondering will my s1 coils fit? I have the igniter and everything else just wondering as they are brand new OEM ones.
  25. I believe u can tip a bit of oil into the cylinder and if compression doesn't increase it's your valves Correct?
