  1. that 32 GTR was mine :) they're SAU vic stickers.. havnt joined QLD yet.. looking at it.

i just turned up to have a look as i havnt been to QR yet and looking at getting into some track days. I had a good chat with Greg though, i didnt see the owner of the white 33 in the hour and a half i was there. awell.

hopefully meet some of you at things down the track

  2. having read this thread in its entirety over the last 24 hours.. i have a few comments.

firstly: people need to fking read a thread if they are going to post on it.. there must have been 30 times the question is asked "are GT-SS the same as -9's" when it was answered 8 pages earlier..

secondly: its close minded to beleive that just because all you want is instant response in a car and that someone else is dumb for not agreeing with you, or will regret not going that option down the track. people are different. peoples tastes are different. and its their right to decide what they like.. maybe it hasnt occured some that there are people who own a fast car who enjoy the rush when boost kicks in hard at 4.5-5k and they want that in their daily, because thats what they like. And they're prepared to put up with a bit of unresponsiveness. Its their prerogative to do so.

further; by saying "that setup is just going to get you to lose your license" is not exaclty a valid argument. so will doing 60 in a 50 zone, if you get caught enough times. pretty well every car on the road has the capacity to have you lose your license if you drive like a tool. Maybe the owner takes the freeway home from work and hauls ass up to 100 in second on the on ramp, and thats how he deals with the stress of life. who knows.

    rant over.

im still undecided between -9s and -5s for my turbo replacement, after my tune with r32 N1s which are very lazy (max boost around 5k) they need to go! and i figure since im used to them taking their sweet ass time to come on perhaps -5s are the go for future upgradability higher top end and bearable lag. it just seems to me that there needs to be a set to bridge the -5/-9 gap..

on a side note has anyone ever used twin 2860rs's? their flow map looks like it has a more usable spread then the -5's with slightly lower peak flow.

  3. yeah still running stock dumps/front pipe.. which for the 32 is pretty sub optimal. someones selling a set of the standard CES pipes (not the racing ones) for a good rate, im juist weighing up weather i pick them up (At a good bargain) or get a 3.5" front pipe and cat-back.. cause turbo';s will need to come out for installation.

i was origionally going to get cam gears, but my tuners like.. nah why would you do that? thasts a waste of time.. takes a long time to tune, not worth it unless using cams.. i thought that odd. awell.

  4. ohh thanks for that mate,

only other query. does anyone know the dimensions of the stock front pipe. i got out and measured it this morning.. because i believe mines still stock.

my split pipes were 20cm circumference (63mm diameter externally) and meeting in a 24.5cm circumference (78mm diameter External) pipe. im assuming i would be able to find some gains through replacing these. Im running N1 turbos atm, and at 19psi making 248awkw, tuned for mid range and SMOOTH power curve.. but seems alot of boost for the power.

    my only power mods incl.

greddy FMIC (unknown size.. looks same as stock, maybe fractionally larger)

    modified actuators on the N1s

    apexi 3" catback.

Vipec ECU and electronic boost solenoid

my last (stolen) GTR had the above + cam gears, and cutsom dumps/front pipe to 3.5" decat. and it was 298 awkw on 21psi (2 psi more)

  5. i know im ressurrecting an old thread here but in relation to

i got lucky and found some r34 gtr dump pipes, much much better design than the old 32/33 items

arnt the R34 ones longer? so do they fit propeperly to the R32 Front pipe, or does it make the exhaust sit stupid low off the car?

and, does the R34 front pipe offer any gain from the 32 stock? (or would it be better going r34 dump, to aftermarket front, to aftermarket catback)

  6. yeah GTRs are always a head turner, probably my two most memorable would be:

firstly: when taking a girl out we were driving through the a carpark and this kids like " WOWEE mum! look at that! that car is AMAZING!!!"

secondly: once again out witha girl (probably the most fortuitous timing for it) and after parking a kid comes up to me and he's like "is that a real R32 GTR!!! you ought to enter it into the local show and shine! you would win for sure mister.. you sure are lucky to own one of those. i want to get one when i grow up"

obviously good for the ego in both cases. :)

  7. thanks for the responses guys!

so to sum up this is either caused by oil draining from the cylanders, or my plugs have fouled from bad/stagnant fuel?, and so by either removing spark plugs or CAS when first turning it over (untill guage registeres oil pressure) then refitting will prevent this happenning in future? (cant really do anything about fuel as i cant replace the fuel without starting her up and taking her to a servo).

if i wasnt to do this, will it damage the engine? or would the wear be negligible?

  8. hey guys,

i couldnt find anything specific to this so here goes.

i regularly have to travel for 4-8 weeks at a time with work so its not uncommon for my 32 GTR to not be started for said periods.. now ive found over the last 9 months, my car is deteriorating in how rough it is on cold start after a break... early last yeah it wasnt a problem, during startthe engine would shake for the first 3-5 seconds (while i assume it properly lubricated itself) and most recently after 6 weeks from christmas swhen i started it, it didnt just shake it sounded like something clanging within the engine, i was instantly about to cut ignition, however after 2-4 seconds the clanging stopped and she sorted herself out... my car runs perefectly smooth at all other times.

is this a problem (obviously not ideal), and is there anything i can or should do to avoid it, either before i leave or prior to starting? the oil is changed every 4000k or therabouts so is always in good condition, oil pressure is always fine etc etc.

    thoughts?

    cheers

    Dan

  9. PM sent :)

    just to clarify.

this is a original vipec plug and play board for SKYLINE RB.

It supports all RB's including R34 GTR via dip switches, so rb20 rb25 rb26, EXCEPT IT DOES NOT SUPPORT R34 GTT NEO.

It has does not require any extra harness's for supporting a 6 cyl, it does that standard, those extra cables there is the expansion cable which allows you to connect extra aux devices / temp sensors ($50 add on or something)

it has full boost control, you just connect it to where the original one was in the first place.

it has a inbuilt map sensor also, its a true plug in solution for RB skyline.

this ecu is HIGHLY capable when in the hands of a tuner that knows what they are doing with them, can work well with 150kw to 1000kw + setups.

    hope this helps.

and thanks for the info Guilt toy
