I'm a member of Ipswich Kart Club .. joined last year and got into racing in Leopard (125cc electric start, clutch , water cooled, no need for a pusher to get you started), was out there yesterday for the first race meeting of the year (just don't ask how I went)

I believe they are expecting at least 100 ppl next weekend .. and there won't be a problem with a whole group of you guys turning up. Unfortunaely I won't be out there cause I'm out of town with work next weekend

I would think that the minimum age would be about 7 to have a go ... but under 18 probably need parents signature on the paperwork, and don't forget to wear / take covered shoes

would be worth ringing the club to confirm this (Debbie - 0411 717 547)

you will have some serious fun, but not sure what karts will be available to drive (members are loaning their karts to the club for the day) and I'm not sure that the 'fastest' water cooled classes will be available. But I'm sure that if hire karts are the only ones you have driven before you will find these karts very different

Anyone who heads out .. If you need any information after the day about getting into the sport just PM me .. I'll be more than happy to help you out .. who know's we could end up with a SAU Karting Team

    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
    • The best part is when you own the car long enough that you look back and find your OWN ham fisted amateur shit!
    • The annoying part about neglect, is when you start to replace one thing, and find ten more broken things. Ham fisted monkey repairs you normally only find out about when trying to do something unrelated! Ha ha   Neglect you can kind of anticipate the huge costs to fix it all. Ham fistedness is normally a shock the first time your work on a new old car, as everything "looked" good before.
    • For DBA, check out their guide table here. https://dba.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Direct_Replacement-Guide-2021.2.pdf   Additionally they have some other guides and info on how to make sure you choose the right pad.
    • Sorry, just assumed that talk of coloured pads meant EBC red/green/yellow/shit stuff. I don't know the DBA pads, but it's a reasonable bet that they will be OK. DBA make good stuff generally. Those 4000 series rotors I linked to are very good. I may well replace the RDA rotors I have with those when required.
