I know what the Faq says

but my friend says that according a few companies thge GTR suspension all around is what is called for with teh stagea??

it contradicts everything ive read here

gtr fronts fit stageas yes, gtr rears dont fit unless its a series 2 manual from the factory. gts-t rears fit but they are not designed for a wagon and wouldnt be very suitable.

so what coilover setup would be suitable?

the whole shock spring setup most of you run will not be quite enough for my application.

IS there a certain reason why GTST rears arent suitable?

oh and i dont think that spring shock combo will go quite as low as i need to be. I had to modify my coilover lower brackets to go as low as i needed.

Hopefully to have the stagea on stock body about 3-4 inches fromt eh ground.

yes lowering is an issue, ive got mine with about 100mm of clearance from chassis to the ground and exhuast is about 60mm from the floor, i can go lower at the rear but not the front as the strut bottoms hit the control arms :D i have circlip grooves down to 300mm from wheel centre to gaurd but with the lowering issue i can only goto around 315mm.

sydneykid will know the spring rates etc for the setup he sells.

which is why i wanted to go with coilovers

i know how to make big wheels fit small spaces

plans are to put 18s, slam it and drift it, like i did with my 180.

Ponly problem is flaring the rear fenders to fit the single digit or negative offsets i want to.

But unless i have a manual stagea from the factory (wihch obviously i dont)

I need GTR front GTST rear.

rodge

I have a set of Gab wagon coilovers which is so low at the moment that I scrape on a speck of dust on the road, they are also hard/soft adjustable as well as height.

Couldnt tell you what model, unless you know where to find it on the coilovers themselfs?

Since you are Japan you have a heaps of options

There are heaps on Yahoo auctions suitable for the Stagea and drift

Tein make several different sets

I have Tein Wagon's which have 4kg Front and Rear, but they also have Tein HR which are approx 10/8kg F/R

ive already got a company lined up, i was just getting contradictory information

My suspension sponsor from my 180 is hooking me up with cost on another set

i was just making sure on what models to get with the front nad rear

  • 4 weeks later...

tanaka wont do it scotty

but a guy back home is a distributor for the same shit that was on my 180

and he can get 20mm shorter front shocks and custom springrates with the shocks valved to match. for an ass kickcing price

what do you mean he wont do it... i just went over there the other day, and it actually came up. well he is kinda choosey like that... oh well... good luck with that...

but it can be done... why not just buy a set of S14 CO's, R33 Uppers and go at it... oh well...

why dont you go up there with me, they didnt quite understand what i was trying to do.....maybe you can help me out?

i need something that is shorter than this

from bottom of tophat to bottom of the shock (out of lower bracket) is 33 cm

with the lower bracket it is 36 cm

i need like a 30-32 cm shock possibly shorter

    • Was there ever a model of the Stagea m35 that didnt have a badge on the grill? I thought I saw that somewhere, some aero edition or something? I cant find it again? davemoto
    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
