mattysaidso
hey i have a r33 rb25det sedan. i went to install a bosch 040 pump into so i can begin the next stage of power mods. (turbo, pfc etc) thinking it would be the same process as most nissans. pull out the cradel, slightly mod it and hose clamp the bosch in place. hmmm no. now if you are familair with 33 4 doors, the tank is further forward then most import nissans, basically under the parcel shelf, also its plastic not metal. the other main diference is the fuel pump is not in a cradel but attched inside the tank and bascially impossible to get at. One option would be to drop the tank, requiring the whole rear cradel, tailshaft and exhaust to be removed. but that stil doesn garruanty that i can fit a bosch 040 to this tank. what options do i have? or what have others done in there modified r33 4 doors???? thanx in advance cheers matty Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/242482-aftermarket-fuel-pump-install-r33-sedan-help/ Share on other sites
toffy
it pretty easy to change mate , the pump is on a big long bracket that has a slide in mount inside the tank , the spin on cap to seal the tank is a cvnt though , make sure you don't cross thread it oh and watch you don't spray yourself with fuel when you undo the fuel lines on the top Edited November 2, 2008 by toffy Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/242482-aftermarket-fuel-pump-install-r33-sedan-help/#findComment-4236172 Share on other sites
Habler
Toffy is on the money. It isn't really that hard to fit (and yes the bosch 040 is a an easy fit for it) but does get a little fiddly thanks to the tank being almost impossible to see down into. The easiest solution is to give some kid 10 bucks to jump into the boot and use his little arms and a torch to pull it out/put it back in for you. But this could also end up sounding pretty suss when you have to explain to the cops why there is an 8 year old kid in your boot passed out from petrol fumes. So if possible, get yourself in there with a torch or like I did, do it all by feel. The hole bracket will just slide up and out and then its the same process as any other Nissan - simple modification etc. The hardest part is getting it back in properly and sitting at the same level. I thought I had it in right but after a quick double check relised it was not sitting deep enough in the tank which would result in less pick up. It should feel like it has slid and locked into place almost. Good luck, as Toffy said, that plastic cap is the worst part about the job... lunjiaow
Its pretty much the same as fitting it in the coupe. I ended up fitting a 044 in my sedan. Try and not to break the tabs on the cap when undoing it, some are brittle.
