DRIFTZONE DRIFTDAY COMP MARCH 6th

Drivers to be signed on by 12 on the track at 1pm.

DriftZone's next drift day on the 6th of March at Queensland Raceway, Willowbank is going to be our first competition for 2005 and will be using the new drift course up at turns 1 & 2.

At this stage, we have some details to finalise, but prizes will be on offer for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and an encouragment award for the most improved driver of the day. Points will be awarded to the top 10 drivers in the competition that will accumulate over the year towards a grand prize at the end of the year.

The competition will be running on the high speed drift course starting with turns 1 & 2, then heading into the dipper and left around turn 4 onto the centre straight.

At this stage (yet to be finalised) we will be making a top 16 for the competition based on the early practice runs and then starting the competition at approx. 3pm.

Free practice will then continue on the old drift track (starting at turn 3) for those that dont make the top 16. This way, everyone gets to have plenty of laps whether you make the top 16 or not.

Prices for the day still havent changed and are:

$100 entry per car (including one driver),

$50 for an additional driver in the same car,

$10 refund of gate entry if ticket stub is produced at sign up (first driver only).

Entry to the competition is included in this price for those drivers that make the top 16.

Drivers that make the top 16 will be notified during the course of the day and asked whether they wish to compete or not. If a driver decides not to compete they will be able to continue free practice on the old drift track.

NOTE: If you elect to not compete you WONT be able to change your mind later as the drift tree will be drawn up with the top 16 confirmed drivers as early as possible.

Lets try and get as many people out there on the 6th of March spectating too as now is the time for us to really show that drifting in Australia is becoming accepted as a mainstream motorsport alternative.

*UPDATE*

The competition is confirmed and so is first prize.

First place will be a voucher from Streeter by Streeter for Slideways Aero Parts.

Second and Third places (and the encouragement award) are yet to be finalised so keep your eyes open for more updates

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
    • Also wanted to say, my new spark plugs are blackened looks like it's very rich. I have splitfire coilpacks but stock coilpack loom and ignitor. I tried directly grounding the ignitor ground to body as well.
