  1. Spotted this @ Mona Vale around 5:30 tonight, walked into the sushi train and was spotted by a bloke I used to work with at Supercheap and is the current owner of this??

He has been through more cars than I eat meat pies xD. Hope he looks after it, great looking car in person.

  2. Yeah, I was visiting my mate at BMW there.

I parked parallel to your car in the driveway of what looked like a vacant factory.

Heh, my partner just got a car and we work on the same street so we car pool to work in her car :D :D.

  3. No, Japan's summers are not as hot as here and their cooler months are definitely colder than ours.

Decent trans coolers (hell, even small horseshoe shaped "coolers") have been found to extend the life of markedly and IMO should be on every car - feel free to ask EF Falcon/Futura owners who have their transmissions sealed from factory.

You are correct though and yes, I am a forgetful idiot. Scott's coolant bypass is without question the first thing I would install if I purchased another VQ (unless it has it from factory).

VB upgrade? Nah, not that high up on the list of things to add to a fresh PNM35 although I do appreciate the improvement it makes... hell, it is still behind roughly $3-4k of mods on my list.

We've already got a trans temp regulator type set up anyways... i guess, Also isn't a theory behind VB upgrade is that because there is less (slip or friction) so there is less heat generated between shifts?

Heh, not trying to come at you bro... I also forgot those mods in my #22 post in this thread :P.

  4. Nice PM's guys.

May I suggest that the first mod should be a transmission cooler?

Leave the fun stuff until later, they need a trans cooler over here.

Doesn't it get as hot in japan as it does here? Also, I'm ganna make a guess and say they have far longer traffic jams?

I haven't put a trans cooler on my car yet and it hasn't gone into limp mode. Not saying he shouldn't, but I think if he's not going to modify it or tow, it should be fine right?

If it absolutely needed anything wouldn't it be better having scotts bypass mod or VB upgrade?

  5. Was driving my NM35 Stagea on Friday night (about 10pmish) along Princes Highway (towards Springvale direction; for those who live in Victoria/Melbourne you know where I am talking about). Drove past a Highway Patrol cop car; he followed me for a while and he simply took off at the next set of lights...then literally 15 secs later, blue lights and high beam flashing behind me; cop pulls me over from behind (in his VF Commodore SS). Runs to my side...does a breath test...ask question "can i have your license, state your name and address...where are you going?...you're not cruising around racing are you?..."

Slightly off topic here; do you guys get randomly pulled over in your M35 Stageas? Spoke to a friend who drives an import and he said two things which may have explained why I spefically got pulled over:

    - driving along Princes Highway at night where it is very common for street racing/traffic light drags to occur

    - though the M35 Stageas look understated, they are starting to build a bad reputation by cops who specifically target imports

I never get hassled, even when I had P plates on it, I've even got a kakimoto exhaust on it and the kaki has a larger tip around the actual tip of the exhaust that makes it look like a cannon. I've had police follow me for ages but that's only because I've over taken them and sat in front.

It's also registered in a 60 year old lady's name lol.

I reckon most likely wrong place wrong time situation, they specifically asked you if you've been racing....

Back on topic. If the turbo ever gets strapped onto my car, I'm hoping that the drone will be lessened, if not I'll be looking down the varex path if not varex then it'll be nismo or fujitsubo zorstipoo.

  6. Does anyone have the part number for the lower ballpoints from Nissan and a price? I recently sourced some v35 ones and installed them and now front end has constant cracking in the front end.

Assume you mean ball joints yeah? the lowest ones on the steering knuckle?

Nissan doesn't sell it separately, they'll only sell you the whole assembly. Have to go on ebay.

  7. Oh, another question, I've seen an Axis submodel on some auction sites, what's the deal with them?

Well there are two types in series 2.

The Axis, which is the cross country version with the over fenders and raised height, they also have autech tuned suspension, grill, bumper and different interior.

The Axis S, which is the "sport" model of the two... with axis tuned suspension, half leather interior, different muffler, blackened headlights with a different grill and bumper.

No performance difference between them, one is just gay high. They're just optioned extras from Autech is all.

One thing noted about these cars is that everything is an option.... EVERYTHING. There are Autech series two stageas without the smart key function, bluetooth or bose stereos.

  8. Heh...

A corpse in a stagea :D. Surprised not a single mention of backpackers :P.

+1 for 3.5L AWD, if you really wanted to be reckless you could just pull the fuse to the torque distribution module. That way you get RWD for funz.

  9. Note: none of the aforementioned items will be going on the car, except hellaflush and apex burning seal stickers.

    FYP :D.

A Maxima with a V8 will be interesting! GL. You ganna get an LSD diff?

  10. A workshop manual will probably show you have to remove the bumpers and as for running cabling just use existing grommets in the firewall but if you want more examples just do a quick "the google" search and see if other people have installed antennas in their bumpers.

OK, height is not the key to reception, LOS (line of sight) is, height is for better LOS. I really advise against putting them in the bumper. I could be wrong, if these conditions are met if you live in a relatively flat area with minimal trees, minimal high rise buildings and the transmitter is your neighbor you might be lucky.

Give it a go, but I'm just trying to save you the work of fail.

Cars are not the best for TV. My antennas are in my rear quarter panel windows (wagon) I get a couple of digital channels but as soon as a van or car parks near me that's it... no more reception.
