Is This Part Of The Exhaust Standard?
Jpowys replied to skylinetas's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yes it's the stock dump pipe. You can tell from the crappy factory sheilding -
Well i took it off to the mechanic. He said that it was an old fuel line which was not removed when braided fuel lines were installed. No wonder i couldn't find where it belongs... Thanks for all you help

thanks, couldn't find it unfortunately, so i've given it to my mechanic to check it out. Hopefully he's smarter than me...

Advice Requested Re Max Boost With This Setup
Jpowys replied to Jpowys's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
sorry for ignornace, but "programable management", you mean an aftermarket ECU? I was actually thinking about doing a Dr Drift tune, and doing it that way to save some $. -
Thanks guys Duncan, any chance you can get a pic up to show me what you mean (or reference in the workshop manual). I can't for the life of me see where it goes.

Advice Requested Re Max Boost With This Setup
Jpowys replied to Jpowys's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks for clarifying, that's what i meant, the actuators I'm able to get this spring changed to adjust the boost, but what i'm trying to work out is how much boost is safe to run as a daily driver with the mods listed above? Anyone else have any advice? -
Hi guys does anyone know where this hose goes and/or what it is? the pics are of a hose which seems to go to no where. the pics are looking at the left hand side of the motor on r32 GTR. cheers

Advice Requested Re Max Boost With This Setup
Jpowys replied to Jpowys's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks again I tried to get these details from the previous owner, and he produced a receipt, but no details of what's inside. Given this, i'm treating it as though the internals are not forged - as you suggested. Given this, assuming that the engine is a reco and just stock, what level boost is safe to run? I'm wondering whether i need to go and source some wastegates with a tighted spring, therefore running lower boost - maybe 15-16 psi.. what do you think? I'd also be interested in others' opinions too (not discounting what you're saying of course Dan, it's just good to have different perspectives) -
Advice Requested Re Max Boost With This Setup

Thanks Dan, that's good to know. I don't know the specifics of the rebuild, since it was done before i bought it. The guy i bought it from told me it had forged pistons, but there's nothing to prove this, so who knows. Do you think that 18psi is a safe "everyday" level? I hope to have the car for a few years, and definately don't want to have to be forking out for a new engine... oh, and the turbos are brand new... thanks again -
Hey guys This is a question to do with boost. I tried searching, but without much luck my r32 GTR has the following mods: garrett 2560r turbos recently rebuilt engine (15000 clicks ago) full 3.5 inch exhaust system with high flow cat and hks dump pipes apexi pods 600hp fuel pump (not sure of the brand - the mechanic fitted and told me the name but i forgot). What would be a safe level of boost to run based on these mods. It currently runs about 18psi. There is no boost controller fitted, so i assume that the wasegates have been changed prior to me buying this. The mechanic thinks that 18 psi is too high, and he thinks that he should fit wastegates which will allow it to boost to about 12psi. My understanding is that stock is about .8 bar (11-12 psi). Can anyone advise: 1) what stock boost is on a r32 GTR; but more importantly, 2) what is a safe level of boost for my set up Any help would be really great. Thanks

Hey guys I’ve recently been lucky enough to get myself a GTR – a 32 Upon buying it, I discovered that there car runs like a dog on cold start. I am wondering whether anyone has any experience with GTRs and cold start issues. Basically it is extremely hesitant when reving any higher than 2.5rpm in the first 5mins of driving. The mechanic I have taken it to is well experienced in GTSTs but not GTRs, but is committed to fixing the issue. He has been working through all the electrical components (including replacing the ecu, afms) trying to isolate the problem. So far he has been unable to identify the issue. Does anyone have any suggestions on possibilities for what is causing the issue? Car is running garrett 2560r turbos, apexi pods, and 3.5’ turbo back exhaust. I have tried replacing the stock exhaust and air filters and the problem is the same. I do not have the stock turbos so cannot try replacing these. Any help would be greatly appreciated… Thanks

Ok thanks, i'll try them. Anyone else have ideas? Would nissan have them do you think , or would they cost the earth?

Hi all Just wondering whether anyone can advise me on a good place to get a placement handbrake handle since mine has almost completed deteriorated. I would be happy with a stock one (mine is a 32 gtr), but I would also be happy with something aftermarket, provided it looked ok. I would consider changing the gear knob too to make them matching. Anyone have any ideas. I tried autobarn and super cheap, but they each only had one sort each and they weren’t very good.

As title says Clock must be working, handbrake handle must be in good nick. PM or 0400 675 814 Cheers Jeremy
