  2. If anyone has any other options to what i have stated to get more kws out of the car plz give advice.

My budget reali is $2000 and im hoping to get -

    - high flow from slide, around $1000

    - Spitfire coils, $525 (needed!!!)

    - Deatchworks injectors, around $550 deliverd (hopefully pick up second hand)

    - Boost works tune, around $600

Total $2675 roughly. but then sell standered turbo very good cond $400? Injectors $100? So roughly $2000....

    hoping to hit 270kws.....

    any other ideas???

Have you considered labour costs to fit your new turbo, injectors etc etc???

You also need to factor in a Z32 AFM as the standard AFM will run out of resolution at anything more than what you're currently running. Budget around $400 (or $200-$300 2nd hand).

I'd also be cautious about using deatschwerks injectors. From what i've read, they seem to get mixed reviews (everyone in the US loves them, everyone else seems to think they're crap). If you're after something tried and proven, then spend a few extra dollars and stick with something like Nismo or Sard injectors (you'll also need the injector collars for the Sards as they're not direct fit). Try Nengun for some prices. 550cc are good for well over 300rwkw, so probably no need to go for anything bigger unless you're planning more mods further down the track.

Do you have a full turbo back exhaust or cat back only? Cat back exhaust is still going to be quite restrictive and limit the power you'll make, so i'd recommend upgrading to a full exhaust if you haven't already done so.

Not wanting to put a damper on your enthusiasm, but I think you're going to struggle to make 270rwkw regardless, especially without upgrading cams. I think 250rwkw is a realistic target, so perhaps set this as your aim and count anything extra as a bonus.

  3. Hmmm, it's not Friday in Monaco yet though

Anyone know why they have free practice on Thursday in Monaco, then nothing on Friday, before quali on Saturday?

Good to see Webber hanging in the top 10 in both sessions despite the fact that the RBR's had hydraulic problems. Hopefully they can sort the car so he can put in a good performance in qualifying and get towards the front of the grid for the race.

  4. Had a great day yesterday :)

Managed a best of 12.05@117 in qualifying for SRWD, then in my first ever elimination race, managed to pull off a win which was a bit of a buzz. I actually backed off towards the end and just shaded the racer next to me over the line running a 12.10@109 on a 12.05 dial in with a 0.04 R/T (also my best 60' of day - 1.71), so there may have been an 11 there...who knows. Ended up stuffing the start on the next round though and lost out, but it was fun!

well done to 2rismo and Taryn for winning SFWD

    Awesome work mate, well done!

Thanks again for the help yesterday, it was much appreciated. Shame I couldn't covert some of your advice consistently on the track, but I'll get there eventually with some more practice :)

    Cheers,

    Brenden.

  5. Fark!

Feel sorry for Webber. Seems like he's cursed with bad reliability wherever he goes.

Knowing his luck, DC will end up scoring points and lead Webber in the championship despite being outdriven for most of the season so far.

  6. get the standard turb hi flowed. its good to 19psi and thats heaps for street apps. will allow up to about 300rwKw with some supporting mods. (injectors, piston, cams, ecu etc etc)

    300rwkw? I think that's pushing it a little...

The most I've seen or read about with a highflow on an rb25 is around 270ish rwkw on a rebuilt Neo25 with cams and all the other fruit. Most rb25's running highflows and supporting mods range from 220-250rwkw.

Getting back to the original post, if you have the necessary supporting mods (i.e PFC, EBC, FMIC, fuel pump, injectors, Z32, turbo back exhaust) or plan on getting them in the future, then a highflow is definately the way to go and you'll end up with a very nice streeter once tuned.

If you don't have supporting mods and don't foresee getting them in the future, then I'd probably recommend just replacing your turbo with another std r33/34 unit as you won't see a huge amount of benefit with the highflow without supporting mods.

  7. 130 Pre-Entries as at 7.30pm today and probably still a few more to be added to the list (and a few entries on the day).

I'm guessing that's probably the most entries for a Sydney Sport Compact meet for a few years?

  8. Paid and entered this morning

I'd definately recommend other's out there thinking about having a go to do so. At the moment, there's a very good chance that most people would qualify for eliminations, at which point consistency (and not outright speed) are the keys to success.

It would be fun to meet a few new people as well - I don't really know anyone off here who is entering, so please come and say hi :D

(Any free advice greatly appreciated - I bloody need it!)

    Cheers,

    Brenden.

  9. Thats fairly high boost there, i really only wanna be running like 14-15, so im not punishing my engine. Thats why i was told to go with the GT3040 because its got the .63 so it should still spool up fast. And also make the same power as the GT3076 but on lower boost.

Boost doesn't kill (punish) an engine - poor tuning will kill an engine before boost does...

For the record, I have an ext gated GT3040R with supporting mods and make +285rwkw on 17psi with full boost in the low 4k rpm range. It's a little laggy, but still very streetable - i also don't mind the old fang at the drags, so I wanted something with a reasonable top end - I've done an 11.9 @ 118.

BUT, this turbo would not be my first choice if I was after a nice, responsive streeter. As MANY people have already said, the HKS2835ProS or GT-RS would be my turbo of choice (and yes, they do come with the T3 flange to bolt directly to an rb25). Full boost in the mid to high 3k rpm range making an easy +250rwkw with supporting mods.

Do yourself a favour and listen to the advice people in the know (and with experience) and giving you

  10. From what I've seen previously, you'd have to expect to get at least 3 qualifying runs, plus your elimination run (assuming you qualify), although these Ray Box events seem to run a little different than the traditional Andra events we're used to having.

Qualifying for Sport RWD, AWD, FWD and Sport Bikes is a single session which runs from 10am - 12.45pm (as opposed to the qualifying rounds for each bracket). Given that the session runs for nearly 3 hours, I think it would be safe to say there'd be ample time for a lot more than 3 runs.

To give some idea, apparently quite a lot of guys did 5 - 6 qualifying runs at Mini Jam earlier in the year, and at a guess, I'd say they would have had more competitors there than what will rock up at WSID, so hypothetically you'd have to expect at least the same amount of runs this time round (i.e 5-6, plus eliminations for those that qualify). Not too bad really...

Perhaps someone in the know can clarify? >_<

  11. Thought I may as well throw this up to try spark some interest... :O

Aside from the stupid event name (why do they persist lol), here's hoping this turns out to be a good day of Sport Compact Drag Racing with all the other usual shenanigans that go along with the Ray Box events.

I'm thinking about entering for a bit of fun - $80/$130 isn't too bad really, especially considering it's DYO racing and you could always get lucky and pocket some cash >_<

Who else is going? Is anyone keen?

  12. well i hope the weather holds up so that we get a million runs......the weather might keep people away.....fingers crossed ppl!!!

I doubt the weather will keep people away unless it actually rains and gets cancelled. I raced on Good Friday when the weather was dodgy (it did end up pissing down later) and the queue of cars going through the competitors entrance was out onto Ferrers Road.

My advice is to get there early if you plan on racing. If the weather looks ok, I'll be there :)

i was going t go but they arent prepping the track so big horsepower and street tyres and no track prep dont mix well
I don't think they prep'd the track before the Good Friday street meet either - although, after a few big hp v8's did slalom runs down the track, they put some sort compound down (and preceeded to waste over 30mins of racing time :domokun:)

    You'd think they'd learn...

  13. I'll also be heading out to WSID :P

Advice - get there early if you're racing. I got to WSID 15 mins after the gates opened on Good Friday and both lines for competitors were out onto Ferrers Road. I assume it's safe to expect that next Wednesday will be no different.
