  1. He didn't send me any. I'm almost 100% positive that they check though. -Patrick
  2. Let's hope things turn out so well for some more of us in this thread .. -Patrick
  3. This is the kind of information i'm really looking for, thanks for the tip - i will do these things when the car arrives too. I'm starting to get the feeling that i will be pulling most of the car to pieces... -Patrick
  4. This was my impression also. -Patrick
  5. Believe me, i hope you are wrong too. The reasons I bought the car were that i believe the modifications to be extensive and valuable. I don't quite see why you think the car would have rust - none was indicated on the condition report i received. I think that the car has probably been sitting in a garage/shed for quite some time, and the owner has finally decided to sell. I don't quite get why alot of people seem to think that this car has been raced.. It may have been, and there is no real way to tell, but i think there are alot of premature judgements being made. I think i will probably take the sump off the car, and possibly even take the head off to look at the pistons/bores, but I am of the mind that alot of people are over dramatising cars and their condition in general from japan. Remember, they have car enthusiasts too.. -Patrick
  6. I will just have to see how it is when it arrives.. Like i have said before, i'm willing to spend the time to make it right. -Patrick
  7. http://www.japparts.com.au/Parts+Panel/Int...tercoolers.html have them for $600. -Patrick
  8. I'm thinking of maybe getting their 600x300x100 core. Are you running aftermarket turbos/turbo? My car has 2x HKS GT2530's, so the cooler will be working hard..
  9. underground: Can you post any results you have obtained with this cooler, and which model/size you are using?
  10. I'm also using Prestige's recommended Melbourne agent, Frank Madden P/L, but the timing of the whole operation is left largely upto the client - i can decide whether or not to take the risk with the early import, it's no problem if i decide to put it on a later boat, and no extra cost. -Patrick
  11. The car is probably going to be my second car, driven during the week if i feel like it, and definitely on the weekends. It's likely to see a bit of track work too. I'll probably buy a '85 corolla or something as a shopping trolley -Patrick
  12. Fair call, it all comes down to how much money you are willing to spend, and the amount of work you're willing to do.. Some of us like a bit of work, and the chance of saving a bit of $$$.
  13. I think it might be alot safer to put it on a later boat.. an extra 3 weeks isn't worth the $000's it could cost if the import approval doesn't arrive in time..
  14. Unfortunately when importing we are rarely given that luxury..
  15. i truly hope that this is the case..
  16. I'll probably put a stock GTR spoiler on it, i like the look of those It's true that the car has probably been driven hard, and it's condition unknown. That's part of the risk you take buying a GTR, even one in stock condition. I can just hope that it's not too bad. Worst case if the engine is blown, or major chassis damage, i can either rebuild or strip/sell, although the thought of option 2 makes me quite emotional.. -Patrick
  17. I'm really hoping this is not the case.. I think before making decisions like that i will wait till the car is here!
  18. No worries, are you in a hurry to sell it? As soon as i find out it's the right part, i will take it.
  19. That's the plan, the end result is going to be a mint car -Patrick Do you guys know some good places to get parts in melbourne?
  20. bloody hell why can't they just get their arses in gear.. i really don't want to wait for my car any longer than i have to - i'm sure everyone else feels the same about their car, but if there is any real delay with getting the approval it could cost me alot of money
  21. Don't higher lift/longer duration cams put more stress on the belt? I just want to make sure i'm getting the right thing for my car.
  22. i haven't heard about this but i'm familiar with the stretch of road you are talking about - sounds nasty i hate accidents. i think the driver must have been doing something quite silly to manage what you described. like i always say, keep your crazy driving to the race track..
  23. Very interesting, i have had a similar problem in the past with a mini.. When my car arrives (5 or 6 weeks) i will need to see if this modification has already been done, if not i will definitely be buying some form of sump baffle. so a Tomei restrictor restricts oil going up to the head? does the head get too much oil normally or something like that? -Patrick
  24. I'm in a bit of a tricky situation now.. Agent recommends i fax them on the 26th of October, car *could* be put on a boat on the 23rd of October, which means it would probably arrive on the 10th of November (18 days shipping). I'm not sure if this time frame will work out, can anyone help out? -Patrick
  25. hippy: engines get dirty.. some people don't have the time to clean them i guess.. geno8r: mmm i will clean it up so nice you could eat off it.. predator: there is no way i would classify this car as a wreck.. and at least it hasn't been cheaply tarted up.. pentae: thankyou for your support. Come on guys, have a look at the front guards - straight as a die, how bad could the damage be. I can see a FMIC, front bar, possibly bar support and left hand indicator. Apart from this, there *may* be some underbody damage if the car went over a big rock or something like that, although the sideskirts look undamaged.. hardly a wreck It's my baby.. -Patrick
