He brought it from an auction in Japan, so had been sitting around for atleast 4 or 5 weeks b4 being driven, it was a monster RB24 with T88 on 22 PSI (at that time), scared the crap out of me. Had a half a tank of fuel in it, he just started thrashing it on backroads when he got it and then died and wouldn't start, we had to get it towed
But b4 that sounded really healthy and no knocks, leaks or bearing noises at all. He knows he was in the wrong, didn't even drop the oiler and filter, it might not of needed a new fuel filter, but hell atleast some new fuel or additives at the very minimum.
When he checked the fuel, the mechanic said old fuel causes serious detonation and that was his diagnosis as everything else appeared ok

It's like me showing you a picture of a GTR without the bonnet open and asking if the engine has forged pistons.
without the sump off u mean
Oh, good grief. When insulation tape has been all unwound off a wiring loom it tends to suggest that someone has been in there doing something. No?
Seriously.
That's doesn't tell us what fuel pump there is tho, for all we know it could still be stock from a wrecker, Op needs to show the pump itself
-
huh? loom, what happened to the loom, 1 it looks fine and 2. that wasn't his question?
OP what does it say on the pump!? names, numbers etc
-
Hypergear do some very nice turbo's, I have bought around 10 off him this year, most with billet compressor wheels.
10? why do u need 10 turbos in 1 year, that's what 15 grand in turbos?
I have tried to tell this dumb bitch that ignorance is not bliss.....but she keeps coming back with more.
pIease refrain yourself from using such vulgar and oscen language sir, I thought u blocked me cuz I was winning remember, please go back to blocking yourself for the better of the forum
Kane checks peoples profiles cuz of his insecurities, thinks he's important cuz he's been on a forum for longer then needs to be, yet still drives an R32 rb20...
...Kane got Kaned whhheeecchhhsssshh
-
if op can't decide
go buy s2k, let the vtek kicks in yo
on a side not what wing is this 34 running?
looks like a wing of a small airplane but could be wrong
-
Wat?
Need a facepalm emoticon for this thread...
he's asking why u would want to replace the old stock wheel...4 a billet one obviously, but u can't change it it coz its a ceramic wheel so may no be worth changing out the turbine and highflowing that turbo it since most people r going to billet compressors aswell these days
get my drift?
-
easy for a 3 point Oh bro tho
-
Why would you want to replace the ceramic wheel? Its the weak point
have u heard of that new thing called billet compressors...that's why
-
why not?
-
put it this way,
the supra comes with a factory RB26/30DETT, rated to 600-700rwhp safely
6 speed gearbox ready to run 7's on the 1/4 mile, or handle around 1000rwhp
but its a bit of a boat and not so practical for a daily
shit. now i want that black supra, does it include the girl?
THIS.
no need to spend 20grand on a built rb30 when the 2jz motor will take up to 700whp on stock internals, absolute torque monsters
-
^ This guys running a 30/26 and looks like he had the same or similar problem to you, in the comments section he wrote
"Haha cheers man, the car had a split weld on the cooler tank and could only make 16psi and on 20psi it had 323kw (432hp) atw so below 300 somewhere i would say. I just changed the computer to a platinum pro and put in id1000 injectors and it went from 415hp atw to 529 atw or around 380kw all on bp ultimate"
massive improvement!
-
All depends on the car.. A 400rwkw Silvia is alot more silly than a 400awkw GTR.
yah and how many 400rwkw silvias do u ever c on the road..
-
and get the vvti (97 onwards) model supra
-
Fact: the HG highflow is pretty much just as good. And billet.
Fact: his ceramic wheel can't be replaced, so how do u get billet from that is rather odd!
Fact: to say a vg30 highflow will be "just as good" as a GTX or or HTA is beyond me, theres no way the highflow HG will match the flow output of the GTX, it will make heaps in the top end)
As I sad b4, go the highflow if your on a tightbudget, but if you're thinking long term power, then better of holding off and putting your money into something thats gona get the job done with ease, as well as having more reliable core etc
Thanx, non night

I didn't realise the r34, supra or 350z came out with the sr20
-
f**k it's just hard to choose
-
what would a second hand head on a rb26 cost tho?
I've heard so many of these stories where people buy 32 gtrs and 2 weeks later theve spun bearings. There notorious for there oil pump problems and being such an old car, I would be reluctant t take the risk on one, unless it was rebuilt not to long ago...maybe that's why u got at the "bargain price" u did
-
It is a bargain. What are you? A moron? Less than a grand to take a (blown and therefore useless) stock turbo to a better than 250rwkW responsive bolt on turbo is good value.
I swear, you are not looking like good value yourself.
a brand new watercooled billet ball bearing turbo will cost u not much more and have a greater power output, but the highflow option is good if on a tight budget
-
What do you people think about 350z? I was thinking about getting that?
after all the replies u got telling what to buy, u then say this
make up your mind 1st
ps Supra FTW
-
twins?
3.5" dumps back?
-
and they let that go on for 28 pages pfft
-
Fact of the matter is - you are completely wrong.
I can tell you for a fact that Shell give their 98 octane PULP a full 6 month shelf life if stored correctly, before the octane rating and quality of the fuel will start to deteriorate as it's in their technical specifications.
I meant fuel already in the tank, not stored, I should of explained better
-
2 weeks haha. Fark me, I'd never be able to drive my car, it gets parked for months at a time!
lol whys that? Your suspose to drive your car man.. bit of a waste of money if u don't drive your car one would of thought
-
I've been told numerous times by people and mechanics that if u import a car from Japan with old fuel (5 weeks after auction for shipping and clearance) and thrash it the motor could blow, and that's what happened to my friend and the grim diagnosis he was given
Also I use to race go karts and use to use fresh fuel from the pump on the day, again on my mechanics advice for best performance, I couldn't fathom using 6 months old fuel and expect to be competitive. We would drain that rest of the fuel that day and start fresh. Just like i'd never ever use 6 months old oil on my car and take a car out to the race track, I can't afford a rebuild. But each to there own I guess
ps come @ me bro is just a internet saying lol

can't believe how brazen game and the lengths some of these people go to steal shit, it's professional in some cases specially with all the copper wiring thefts
My dads mate got his 50k boat stolen from the St Kilda storage yard only 2 weeks ago, the laws gona catchup to them one way or another
