  1. Just throught i would share my current build. First skyline i have ever bought and love it. Bought my 1996 r33 Gtst about a year ago like this : Had some pretty horrific problems though, Coils were ratsh!t, suspension was way too low and stiff causing front guard damage, Gasket between manifold and turbo was 75% gone, wheel bearings front brakes just to name a few. (also the car was completely covered in little jewel beads! First thing to go! ) So after a few months getting it all sorted and working well i decided to get some mods: Plazmaman FMIC Aftermarket boost guage Blitz coilovers ces racing split dump and front pipe 3 inch exhaust boost T CAI Catch Can To then look like this: So now down the track i have caught the bug again and am looking to do some more mods and get it on the dyno: My list is Kando td67-25g 4" 10cm turbo - bought waiting delivery Tial 44mm gate z32 ecu z32 AFM nistune 770cc injectors - unsure which brand yet fuel pump Hoping to put this on stock manifold with spacer as i hear it can be done? Also hoping to modify the dump pipe to a vband and run the wastegate to the existing pipe on the dump with the gate coming off the rear turbo housing. More pics to follow shortly and any advise or tips is very welcomed! I love this forum it is a wealth of knowledge and has saved me ALOT of heart ache!
  2. I have a 1996 r33 Gtst with about 180,000ks, stock turbo running 10 psi, plazmaman Front mount intercooler, new splitfires and new plugs, stock ecu. Recently i have been getting quite alot of white smoke on a cold start which increases when revved. It all goes away when car had warmed up. I did have some problems with a pcv vlave and also installed a catch can which i have taken off for the moment and installed all new hoses and i have replaced the pcv valve and grommet. I have done a chemical radiator test which came up neg everytime and there is no oil water mix. I did a compression test which was my first time ever and forgot to open the throttle! so dont know how accurate it is but results were: 1. 125 2. 125 3. 120 4. 120 5. 130 6. 130 i took the intake pipes off the turbo and there was a bit of shaft play in and out, a little bit more play than there was up and down. The intake pipes were pretty clean and no real signs of oil. Does this sound like turbo seal failure or leaking valve stem seals? Any help would be much appreciated
  3. I had the exact same problem 2 weeks ago for my rego and the mechanic couldnt get a cheap pump anywhere so i looked at the solenoids attached to the abs unit. It was $90 all up and it solved the problem the pump was fine. Im glad i looked at the relay when i did mine it was alot cheaper than replacing a perfectly fine abs pump!
  4. All the nuts on the turbo to manifold were loose, i tightened them up and ordered a new gasket. Would this be enough to cause complete lack of boost or is it likely to have a boost leak somewhere as well? car seems to be running very rich especially at idle.
  5. Well it seems i have found the problem, the gasket from manifold to turbo is in bad shape and has completely perished in the top corner
  6. hmm, i was going to pull it all apart this weekend but i cant get the replacement gaskets till after monday through nissan. Thanks for the info, might pull a few things out of the way and have a look for signs of a leak as you say. Not that i can see it very well but i think there is a broken stud on the manifold to head too.
  7. No the car wasn't exactly cheap. Tonight i disconnected the bottom vacuum line from the stock solenoid and i seemed to make 6-7 psi, was about half way from 0 to 7 mmhg. I also got a clip of the noise:
  8. Hmm no its a different noise, it wont get close to boost till high revs and then it starts making the noise and will get to maybe +1 mm/hg at the most. Ill have to get a vid of it tomorrow and post it up.
  9. Lol! havnt seen any feathers yet but will check Hmm looks like the turbo is coming out, if it is the wastegate is it more than likely the actuator or the wastegate itself?
  10. I have recently bought a 96 import r33 gtst and i am having some problems, firstly being boost, the stock boost gauge just barely gets past 0 at the high end of the rev range (cant see exactly because tacho is not working atm which is another story). The other thing which could be related is there is a high pitch whistle noise which doesnt sound right at all which sounds like its coming from around the turbo when it gets to high revs. I cant see any apparent split hoses, could this be a leak on the manifold side? Any advise would be much appreciated before i start dismantling on the weekend.
  11. Thanks, yeah its wrapped. I live in the hornsby area. I wish i had saw your reply earlier i would have come down! looking forward to some cruises.
