  1. Yeah thanks Erin for a well planned cruise. I thoroughly enjoyed the run, although I am suffering the consequences of not putting sunscreen on before getting to the lake - one half of my body is red and crispy, the other is white! The only downsides that I either witnessed or heard of: - the unfortunate incident between the two Skylines - it made me want to cry and they weren't even my cars! Anyone got any pics of either cars? I didn't get to see the yellow Skyline up close, but from close inspection of the Gold Coast Skyline with cool tint job, it certainly wouldn't be looking pretty right about now (and neither will the bank balance!!!). - the cunning tosser that thought he might be able to boost some wheels with all those Skylines around - WTF!!! - seeing a fellow Skyliner being pulled over (and breathalised I think) on the way home - losing all the Sunshine Coast cruisers and having to go home early Perhaps the Sunshine Coast leg of the cruise could be planned ahead for those interested next time?? Other than that, I really enjoyed my first MSC - I look forward to the next one!
  2. Yeah just saw this thread now as well - maybe just a tad too late... For the record, I decided to head down to Aspley and go all out for my first cruise. In hindsight, if the afternoon is left open for some Sunshine Coast cruising, perhaps some organisation may be of some help. As it turned out, I was in one of 6 cars that ended up doing a lap around Mooloolaba in search of some more Skylines, but it kinda died down pretty quickly so I went home after that. Was there a pre-organised cruise scheduled around the coast that I was unaware of?? Either way, it was a great day out, but like many, I am suffering the consequences of not putting sunscreen on BEFORE getting to the lake...
  3. Thanks for all the replies... I'll let you know how I go...
  4. OK thanks guys... I have eliminated the Falken ZE326 from the race, but are still getting some very positive reviews (mostly US-based) for the Sumi HTRZ II's (a couple from Mustang GT drivers in US). I'll throw two more in the mix though - anyone know anything about BFGoodrich's G-Force Sport, or how good Falken ZE512's are? (and yes, I have used the Search facility too! )
  5. Found this link for reviews of the sumi tyre - it's American, but people seem happy with them nevertheless... http://www.carreview.com/Tires/Sumitomo/PR...rx.aspx#reviews ???
  6. I am about to upgrade factory wheels and compliance tyres to 17", and would like anyone and everyone's opinions/testimonials on the tyres that I have narrowed it down to (I am looking for a good performance tyre in wet and dry, good value for money, fairly quiet, but nothing over the top as I won't be racing with them): Sumitomo HTRZ II vs. Falken ZE326? Any experience, positive or negative for either would be very much appreciated. Thanks! Oh, and pros and cons of 235-45-17 vs. 225-45-17?
  7. I love having a GTS non-turbo Skyline R33 for a number of reasons: 1) just coz it's a Skyline - it looks great, sounds great, and has plenty of power and acceleration to get me away from the lights quickly and legally (i.e. hitting the speed limit (or thereabouts ) quicker than most cars around you from a standing start is no problem). I still get plenty of stares wherever I drive, and all I've done to the car is add some 17" wheels to it. All up, to get the car on the road, complied, registered, with new 17" wheels and high performance tyres, it has cost me about $15,500. 2) Non-turbos are cheaper to run (I still use the expensive Shell Optimax, but it lasts a lot longer than if I were running a turbo), and from what I read in reviews, if something is gonna go wrong with your Skyline, it'll be the turbo. 3) Insurance is a HEAP less (although some will still only offer third party fire & theft, not full comprehensive). If you're looking to take your Skyline to the track, then a non-turbo is a waste of money, as it is fairly common knowledge that it would take a hell of a lot more money to get your non-turbo race-worthy than if you started with a GTSt. Likewise, if you're looking to drag everyone off the lights, you are probably looking more for a turbo, but don't expect to keep your points/licence/car for very long anyway if you're street racing. Well that's my rant anyway. Good luck antonahu!
