  1. My right steering rack end is bent. (the metal rods at the end)

I've acquired another steering rack and was wondering if it is possible to just replace the steering rack end instead of replacing the whole thing.

    is this process hard?

I also have a lower control arm which needs replacing, I have the replacement part aswell and also wondering if it is easy to put in or is something that I should let the suspension shop do.

    Thanks in advance

  2. figured it out guys!

    it was actually a fuse.

this fuse controls all the electrics in the car and also supplies power to the constant 12v to the headunit

it is located in the fuse box under steering wheel left hand side 7th one from the bottom 10A fuse.

so all is good now, rewired everything and getting 12.4v out of the line.

With 12.4V it is safe to assume the battery is healthy and ok and shouldn't require a swap?

It still starts up no problems every time.

  3. yeh i've topped it up with distilled water

    there wasn't much missing

and the battery hasn't gone flat since, well there is enough charge to crank the engine but still having the problem keeping the settings for climate and clock

either way I will buy a new battery i guess

sucks because I bought this battery in april

would of thought batteries can be reused if they go flat

  4. Hi,

I recently accidentally left my headlights on and drained the battery. Got a jump start took it home and recharged the battery.

After that is when my problems started happening.

The battery would go flat again every few days. Something was draining it. Anyway as a result when I started it the stereo died out.

Pulled the stereo out and with a multimeter found the constant power cable reading very low voltage(like 2-3volts). So no choice we just hooked it all up to the ignition power (which read 12v constant) and used that instead till later when I will rewire another power cable.

Now after that weird incident with the stereo, the climate control and clock settings always reset themselves after each time I start the car. So I reckon I've blown a fuse or something somewhere which stores these settings. Anyone got an idea? I've checked the fuses in the car and engine bay aswell, they all seem to be fine.

Any suggestions to what I might of blown?

    cheers

  6. hexagon bolt that looks like a nail head with a plus on the end for phillips head screw driver

the stick out of the back of the headlight and there is one or two that face towards the sky from the top of the headlight

    bit off topic

where can you find projector lens to do a retro fit?

can you just get the project lens itself without the socket? and mate that to the r33 socket?

can you get any old project lens that has a line in the middle or does it have to be xenon hid projector?

  7. Have you changed water pump?

I had same problem recently. Would leak a small amount on start up and would stop leaking once warmed up.

It was the water pump. Bought a brand new VL water pump from repco and got mechanic to put it on.

Might also wanna test your hoses. Could be corrosion inside. Give them a bit of a squeeze, if it is crackly then there is corrosion inside, give them a good clean and best to replace them later on. You can get silicon radiator hoses from ebay cheap.

  8. yeah with that air release valve on the plenum

when do you know all the air is out

because mine just keeps bubbling light green foam out, but i never see the coolant actually come out.

And do you do this with the radiator cap on or off?

  9. hi guys,

I'm after the two radiator hoses for an r33 rb25det engine.

Know anywhere in SE Melbourne that supplies it?

Also another question. I recently replaced the radiator because it died on me the other day and found that there is a bolt with a wire that attached to the original radiator (some kind of sensor, that attached to the bottom left of the radiator tank). Well I couldn't find a place to put that after getting another radiator from the wreckers as the original place where it was supposed to go was sealed. Well I've been driving without that sensor and their doesn't seem to be any problems so far but just to be on the safe side I thought I would ask.

Also how do I go abouts flushing the radiator and the coolant system? Is there a plug or screw that lets the stuff out while I run water through the top of the radiator?

And what coolant do you guys recommend. Right now I'm using concentrated coolant and mixing that with water. Is premixed better? 33% ratio? Theres just so many types.

Sorry for all the questions. :)

    Thanks.

  10. hi guys,

I might be going up to Japan again end of this year for about 3 months.

I just got some questions on acquiring keitai and how it all works.

I know you most likely need an alien registration card.

But I want to know more on how their plans work.

What are the differences between the carriers, eg Docomo, KDDI Au, Softbank etc

For a 3 month stay is it better going prepaid?

What are the call rates like?

Do they have something like yes time here?

Also which carrier is more widely used?

I'm aware their keitais use email instead of sms. But what is Skymail? How do they charge for this service?

How long are the contracts? Is there a penalty if I cancel within 3 months? How much is that penalty.

Softbank 3G phones. I hear it is possible for them to be used here by unlocking it.

What is reception like, especially up in the slopes. (which is where I will primarily be staying)

    International calls?

Oh and do all phones have free incoming calls? Or do some carriers charge for incoming calls.

Sorry for all the questions but I would greatly appreciate any information you have.

    Cheers
