  1. Hey Troops, hopefully this is ok to put in this section.

I have had a look around the forums and haven't really found much information on buying New Old Stock etc for a rebuild/restoration/replacement job for skylines. I came across the windscreen rubber thread indicating Clark Rubber might do a replacement strip etc, but not much else...

I have built a number of streety/cruisey type older Commodores in my time, and I'd ring up Rare Spares and say "I need a genuine horn mounting bolt for a 1983 VH SLE" and they'd have one in stock. Not so much for Nissans though?? So...

Where do you buy your replacement parts?

I am looking to do a back to metal respray on my 32 GTR, cutting out some rust and just tidying it up. Nothing too crazy as it will be mainly used on the track, but still want it to look tidy. I'm going to need windscreen rubbers, door rubbers, some trim pieces, just fiddly little items that I would prefer to replace with new / new-old stock, rather than pilfer from a wreck.

I'm in Sydney, but will pay postage from interstate / international if it's for the right part at the right price.

    Cheers,

  2. Ross Brawn has officially announced that he is to be hounded out of the Mercedes F1 team at the end of the year.

‘I am honoured to have decided to be let go,’ the Fozzie Bear-voiced team principal said today. ‘I have been considering my position for some time and I feel now is the right time to be told to hand over control of the team or else.’

However, Brawn admits the decision to be sacked hasn’t been easy. ‘I have a lot of great memories from my time at Mercedes,’ the vaguely-bearded strategy maestro confessed. ‘From being shouted at by Toto Wolff to being ruthlessly undermined by Niki Lauda, these are the happy times I will reflect on as I am escorted from the building by security.’

  3. I hope to see Dan do well at Red Bull, but the Sebastian domination is getting tiresome. I'm happy for Red Bull to continue winning, but I would like to see him actually have to work for it. Someone challenge him the whole way, rather than watch him streak away by lap 3 and not be seen again until the second to last. Looking forward to seeing how the turbo engines go. Just have to wait and see I guess!

  4. I bought a Skyline to replace my SS, but now I love my Skyline AND my SS... So my wife loses out (Or wins, depending on how you look at it) and we're selling her car instead.

  5. Thanks mate, on the spec sheet they gave me just indicates "tail shaft needs replacing" so I assume they've had a look and determined that the whole thing needs to be swapped. They were pretty good, helping me out with advice, rather than just trying to make a sale, so I tend to just go with what they say. I'll make some more enquiries though about the uni joints and yokes etc. Thanks,

  6. G'day,

Had JEM go over my R32 GTR a few weeks ago just to assess what I can do to it, what it needs what I should change etc. One of the few things on the list was to replace the tail shaft due to it being "pretty well flogged" . I plan to use the car for some track work, so I am wondering what my best option is? Buying a second hand one seems risky, but I'm not sure where to find a new / replacement. Any ideas? Tips?

    Thanks,

    Matt.

  7. nice...any mods?

    Thanks.

Unfortunately the original motor had a fatal failure and couldn't be rebuilt, so it now has an R33 motor with R34 turbos. Runs a Haltec computer and a few other smaller mods, but nothing too serious. Last dynod at 240kw, so it's enough for me at the moment. I'm looking to do some track work in it, so brakes and suspension are first on the list.

  8. Welcome. When you get the GTR and have had it for a while (novelty worn off) it would be great to hear your comparison with the VE. I agree with Luke, don't ask the missus just buy it. Feign ignorance of her disapproval and profit.

I'm looking forward to seeing the difference between the two. From driving the GTRs I have taken on test drives, I can already see that the SS has got much longer legs at top end, but the GTR seems to get up and boogie a little quicker. I'll have both cars for a period of time, so it'll be good to do a proper comparison.

  9. Hello,an welcome love the pick in your sig.

Come to the robbo cruise will be great fun. :action-smiley-069:

Hi Humbla, thanks! The robbo cruise? Is that the one on 15/9? I think I saw something on here about that, I'll hopefully have my GTR by then, so I may just come along. Thanks again.
