  1. They're all wound back? What a joke. So in that case they price their cars based on their condition not their kilometres right?
  2. Well for me 8 seconds or less is good. The Prelude VTI-R manual is 8.2 seconds and the Integra Type-R is 7.5 seconds (these are factory claimed figures)
  3. Ok so Im guessing low 8's then? How would it compare performance wise versus a Honda Integra or Prelude? Im just curious because if I think the non-turbo is too slow then I might get a turbo instead.
  4. Basically I want to know how quick is the manual N/A R34 Skyline? Is it that much faster than the auto, and what would the actual 0-100km/h time be roughly?
  5. I was looking at getting a non-turbo tiptronic with the flip up tv, but it looks like that is going to be a real nuisance to get to work so Im scrapping that idea. These are my requirements for a Skyline: - R34 1999 model or later - Low kilometres (under 50k) - Either turbo or non-turbo (depending on fuel consumption) - Has to be a coupe - Can be auto or manual (going to learn manual soon) - Looking to pay in the high 20's, $30k is pushing it Oh and what sort of fuel consumption would I expect with a turbo? (manual and auto) Plus I live in Sydney. Im going down to Northshore Prestige in Balgowlah on the weekend to check out what they have and will be getting.
  6. What kind of 0-100km/h times would you expect for an R34 NA? (auto that is, not manual). Does the tiptronic make much of a difference to these times?
  7. R34 non-turbo auto coupe. Yes I know the fact that its a non-turbo and its auto may not make it as good, but my parents said they will pitch in to help me pay it so I can afford it sooner, and I can't be bothered learning manual (at least not right now). Also it uses less fuel which is good considering recent petrol prices. It'll still whoop my cousin's V8 soarer's ass. :-)
  8. Next weekend I might be going down to a dealer to check out a Skyline with the flip up tv screen, and Im taking a friend who is a mechanic to check out the car. If it looks good then I might buy it. I guess if I buy it I could just take it to a car audio specialist and see what they can do.
  9. Thanks for bringing the topic back. I still didn't get an answer to the DVD question. And BTW, look at this: http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/DesktopDefa...lias=carpointau "Newly imported from Japan. Silver Skyline in immaculate condition. TV, GPS setup just needs conversion software from Japanese to Australian. Xenon lights. 18" Voltec mag weels. Power steering, windows and mirrors. Air con. Skyline floor mats. 10 months rego. Handles awesome. Alarm and Central locking. Rear Spoiler. 1 owner since being imported." What is this conversion software and where can you get it? Also how do you get it to play mpeg and divx videos on the DVD player?
  10. Just wondering, if I just wanted to hook up a DVD player to the flip up screen how easy would that be to do?
  11. Ive tried searching these forums for information on the gps/tv flip up head unit in some R34 Skylines and Im getting conflicting information. Basically I want to know whether they will work in Australia or not? Ive seen ads that claim the gps can pick up an Australian signal, but Ive seen people saying the exact opposite in some threads. Heres an example of one ad: http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/DesktopDefa...lias=carpointau Also the tv obviously needs some modification to play in Australia. How much would that cost? (for digital, not analogue). Ive heard that its not worth the effort, but I would like to know anyway. Im only going to buy a Skyline at the end of the year, but I just want to suss out a few things first. Edit: Oh and is it used for anything other than just tv and gps?
  12. Ok, well I got the answers I was looking for. Autospeed has an article on the R34 but you have to register to be able to see it. The back seat can "fit" people, but not comfortably. As if they would care anyway when they are in a Skyline. The turbo auto does mid to high 7s from 0-100kmh (with 2 people on board), so I don't have high hopes for the non turbo. So that settles it, I'll just have to get a turbo model. Its going to be frustrating though waiting another 4 months to buy one. At least it will be worth it in the end.
  13. Thanks for that. I live in Western Sydney, but this looks like a good place to buy from. And yes they do have something I like. This is the sort of thing I was after: http://www.drive.com.au/used_cars/nissan/s...p=12&d=341&nv=0 Non turbo coupe with the flip up tv screen. And this one looks good too: http://www.drive.com.au/used_cars/nissan/s...p=14&d=341&nv=0
  14. Well, I definitely wouldn't let any tall people in the back. And I don't think a Skyline would be as bad for rear space as some other coupes out there (like the 200SX or 300ZX for example) because it has a comparitively large wheelbase. I guess the only way to really know is to go check one out, but Ive never done this before so I don't know if the sellers would tell me to get lost unless I was serious about buying.
  15. Im in Sydney. Im sure there are plenty of places that sell Skylines here, but Im not sure how kindly they would take to someone who isn't ready to buy yet.
