There is a guy on ebay based in SA selling coil packs for around 30 bucks each
-
Think it is a dud coil pack and only shows up when hot

:Pimp2: just picked up a r32gtst. It has a mystery misfire in it. What makes it so mysterious is it went away when I diconnected the battery(and reset the ECU). The misfire then returned when I turned the engine off and refired it. After this I am in the process of looking at the ignition system ,coil packs etc-i know they crack and spark can jump. Anyone got any other clues or also had this problem?

Evo s are still solid but it depends on your buying price in Japan. The EVO 9 will not be much more than a subbie STI to stay competitive. Some EVO models are not eligible for importing either. Once again hard to say which is best investment all depends on your buying price. I have just landed and complied some 95 late series 1 R33 GTST coupes in 5 speed for 11-12k
-
Two major importers in Brisso have just been rejected on a load of R32's. Being 5 months or so since the rule change its now very hard to do them. Not all is lost as R33 auction prices are dropping and compliance here is getting cheaper. Landing and complying 94-95 R33 GTST is now looking good at around $12k each

The Government(SEVS) will however question why if you bought the car in Dec last year have you waited 7 months to file for import approval. Many others have been caught this way in the last 6 weeks trying the same thing. Keep an eye on those 'huge' EVO prices as they are on the decline now that the factory are bringing in latest generation EVOs for reasonable money
-
Yes its true if you can get original owner to sign permission forms for car to be imported to Aus you can apply for import approval, doesnt mean you will get it but. These cars arent particularly cheap anyway. I have seen both models go for less than 130000 yen at auction. I have imported many R32gtst some in amazing cond and paid no more than 200000 yen.
-
Neither look the best. Cars go for real cheap like these in Japan, not more than 100000 yen. You should land either one for 6000 Aus dollars plus compliance. The Grey type M could be a worry, obviusly had FMIC on it which usually means had boost controller on it and with nearly 200000klms the RB20 could be stuffed. Many of these that I have seen or driven in Japan with this amount of klms have been a dog. Little things like dirty pod filters or clogged fuel filters etc are a dead give away for a car that has not been serviced or cared for. I have also found some R32 in amazing condition for not mure more than the 100000 yen and they are much better value, wait and get one of these.
-
You almost on the right track. You can purchase the car yourself from your contacts in Japan and get their permission for you to apply for import approval. Once again this just gives you the right to apply, not the right to get import approval. Thats up to others. If this is successful you then need to organise shipping, customs, compliance etc etc.
-
you need someone on the ground in Japan to stop that happening. you cant expect to run an import business without a business partener in Japan. Mine just happens to own some auction houses and yards in Japan. Any car bought before feb 7th with import approval can still come in. If you dont have any then you will have to look at the RAWS list to see what can be imported-stuff like R33.34,jza80 supra ,stagea etc . To get import approval on the 15yr stuff now you need someone in Japan buying them privately and then applying for import approval and the original owner must give permission to do this.
-
Yeah but anything too modified now after the 15year has finished can be tricky to comply and register especially with a cage in it. I brought in some really modified cars a year ago when things were easier, but now can be a little more difficult. Depends who is doing the compliance and road worthy for you and depends if in the first place you can get import approval. If you are in Bris I can help
-
Its not as straight forward as all that. I said you can apply for import approval, doesn't mean you will get it every time. Iwont give all my secrets away but you sound like you have the right connections to fiqure it out. I have an importing business with similar connection and with connections with car dealers and auctions houses in Osaka
