  1. I realise the tilt tray was there but if he rolled back as far as possible, then the tray driver got in and moved out of the way cameron could have backed his car out of the way enough for the officials to then do what they please with it and let the race start without any problems.

The race did start without problems...every driver was aware that car was parked there

  2. How sure are you of this?

I mean I expect the GT500 cars to be faster but nearly 10 seconds faster than V8SCs?

Very sure...I helped do some of the data telemetry over the 2 days..... the faster guys on a good track and good conditions have done 1:09:5 in a V8 at QR....so yeah the Gt 500 Supra was every bit of 7 seconds quicker....so they should be with what they are allowed to run...inboard shocks , carbon everything and sequentional gearboxes etc etc

  3. If Cameron was a touch smarter he would have pulled up along side the wall and just rolled it back into the driveway rather than trying to do a 3 point turn.

No one has ever claimed Cameron is smart....but even he knows he cant back over a tilt tray to go into a driveway...

  4. Too right! All you GTR lovers need to get your heads out of your a*** and look at the facts.

GTR slower - V8 faster. End of story.

As many people have said the race record means nothing as the safety car slows the race time down.

PS I love the Group A GTRs as much as anyone else.

correct 7 seconds per lap quicker which is a lot

which over 161 laps is close on 19 mins at the end of the race

    The Carrera Cup cars are quicker to...around the mid to high 2:10 at bathurst...not bad for a N/A 400hp 2wd car...kinda puts the GTR's 2:14's into perspective...slow

  5. As the marketing manager you would be well aware of the gearbox and tyres differences between the V8 and your GTR right? I have it on good authority that the gearbox is worth a couple of seconds a lap as are the tyres. Take that into account and your 1:20 laptime compared to 1:14 isn't that far off.....

Well our driver does 1;11:5 in the v8 and he has done a best of 1:19:4 in my car so its more like 8 seconds

and 8 seconds is lights years away at qld Raceway......this would be more like 17-18 secs at Bathurst track..,

Ha ha I pay all the bills so I am well aware of the costs of all components in our race cars.... Oh and the big difference is the V8 will do that time all day and mine will only be good for 10 laps

  6. can anyone tell me why it was safe to drive past mcconvilles car on the first lap, on cold tyres and with drivers not knowing where it was - but it is not safe to do a second lap with warm tyres and the drivers knowing where the stopped car was.

typical commercial considerations coming before safety again

Every driver knew exactly where that car was sitting thanks to team bosses on the radios....lownes knew it was there but was jostling for position and went a little wide......but he knew it was there.

  7. it seems that all the ppl sayin that the GTR would get whooped stil havent read the records..

GTR HOLDS THE RECORD FOR FASTEST RACE

if everything else is sooooo much quicker and the GTR would get owned... why does the record stand after what??? 16 YEARS!?!??

its not like its a not much, its fkn 16 years ffs! thats a really long time for the aussies to get theyre act together and still havent.

plus ur also comparing a 16yo car with a new one. one with a space age bullshit chassis to a street chassis.. if they still cant beat the record.. doesnt that tell u something?

compare apples with apples. the Current 2007 GTR would absolutely MAUL anything this country brings out on the track

    ANYTHING

    Its called a safety car

Look at the lap times...when a GTR does a 2;06;8 sec lap then you have an argument...but you dont. Anyway how can a 2007 spec 500K race car be compared to a 15yr old road car.....its laughable...like most threads on this forum.

I am the marketing manager for a V8 Fujitsu team and I own a well modded GTR track car and I have driven both at Qld raceway on many occasions at private test daysand the v8 Supercar with me in it doea 1:14 (and our driver does 1:11:5) and mt GTR on semi slicks does 1:20 so sorry guys but the GTR is not even close.

  8. Its interesting that the drivers are being painted as the bad guys. There is no way i believe for a second that the drivers took it upon themselves to process the Ferrari data and try to apply it to their cars and testing. At a min the drivers race engineers would be involved and a portion of the engineering staff. In turn RD must have been aware as surely the team isnt full of spineless cheats. It seems by the time RD tried to pull the reigns up on what was happening the damage had been done.

Hatss off to RD for handling the whole situation the way he has.

Yeah but it was the drivers who where caught txt messaging about the stolen Ferrari data...if Alonso knew detailed info like weight dist. and brakind systems it makes you wonder how many other personel at McLaren knew to.

It just proves how dumb Alonso is getting busted like this...Alonso = Warne (txt message idiot)

  9. Looks like Alonso may be on they way out, which is a shame. It was too early to promote Hamilton to F1, it seems he hasnt learnt his place in the team. Telling Ron to go swivel was the worst thing i've read all year... the disrespect he's shown is unbelieveable. If he makes it to melbourne next year, the abuse im going to shout at him may get me ejected

Alonso is a primadonna wanker and Ron should sack him. Hamilton is just as good 9maybe even better) and sooky lala Alonso cant hack it-Sack him Ron

  10. It was a great race...Stoner is on fire...his gap is too big to catch now unless he totally screws the pooch in the next few races...Its great to see a really talented aussies in motorsport...we have a few now..Stoner, Vermulan, Power...and NOT Webber

  11. Everything about that whole fcuking team makes me sick

I cant even remember the last time there was a controversy in F1 that didnt involve them in some way

I say thank god for Ferrari in F1....without them it would be a fcking boring waste of time and oh yeah 70% of the world wide audience would walk away from the sport...im Tifosi till i die and i say fck the garagistas. If you an ounce of Italian blood or even maybe been to the factroy of even better know soemone inside the factory you might understand but you dont which is great cause we dont want ya.

This whole thread is a bitch session no better than 'Who' magazine......there is rarely any insight or talk of racing...its just a bitch session from the misinformed.

I hate McLaren but I dont bag them cause I actually enjoy the racing betwen them and Ferrari and I enjoy the rivalry which is what makes the sport so interesting cause lets face it the racing on track is the worst in motorsport...even V8 taxis pass more on the track

  12. There's no US grand prix, there will be no Australian grand prix soon and it looks like there'll be no UK grand prix if they dont get their act together. 3 of the wealthiest most industrialised nations on the calander, nay the world, and they wont host Formula 1 rounds... how sad

Bernie is quite content to take these races to backwater third world nations who'll pay his rediculous ransoms, where nobody will turn up and the racing will continue to be a farce on yet another Tilke track

    Great move, you utter fool

Maybe the US and UK and Australia are the 3rd world countries when it comes to F1.......countries like these think they have a right to and F1 race where other countries know they have to pay....I for one couldnt give a sht if Australia/US/UK lose the F1....Silverstone is a joke of a track for amenities and Shanghai and Bahrian are awesome...F1 is a business and no longer a sport and Bernie will always go to the highest bidder. It makes me laugh how the punters get so passionate about F1 and the governing body dont give a sht as long as it makes money....much like our daily jobs

You call Bernie a fool????....well unless you are more successful then maybe it is not him who is the fool

  13. i like the idea of MS and DC at BMW.....and deinitely love the idea of webber in a mclaren, would really like to see how he goes in that.

Webber doesnt deserve a Mclaren drive...that bum doesnt deserve a good car...he should be in champ car and Will power should be in F1

  14. If only there was a circuit in Queensland that combined a good history with an interesting layout.

John Tetley now has a lease on Lakeside to run some club like events but you will never see V8 Supercar back there

  15. i luv the spray J richards gave Qld rcaeway...he is right it is the most boring and badly repaired track on the circuit...cut the shitty Qld round from the series ....but they wont cause crowds are very good in the sunny state

  16. McLaren are quick but they employ cheats

I think part of Hamiltons skill was to get into Mclaren in the first place so for me he deserves his success. I love the fact this young rookie has turned the otherwise stuffy old boring sport of F1 on its ear and made it interesting again...anyone who bags this young kid is either jealous or belongs back in the dark ages when Coulthard use to win races

  17. Hamilton said that he knew massa would out brake himself, driving as raggedly as he was and he did just that. An intelligent driver knows when to do those things. He stuck to the inside line, baited Massa by suddenly moving to the outside line and Massa obliged hook line and sinker and overcommitted himself to the corner subsequently overshoting the corner.

I thought it was brilliant psychologically from a guy in his 3rd race ever.

i still dont understand why people stick the boot into him...

Me neither...Hamilton is just want F1 needed...breath of fresh air and has the guts to stick it to the primadonnas...NO other rookie driver in the history of the sport has had a year like his (and I know the car is awesome), but he has had the skill and level head to make maximum value of it (unlike his 2 times world champion team mate)

On another note it looks like Webber has scored another unreliable dog of a car for 2007 season...how do you keep do this Mark....ill be glad to see him in champ cars by 2010
